23/12/2016 10:24 | laserdisc - well done. I feel that I've totally gorged myself on HUR shares this last year, buying most in that 10p to 15p range, to the point where it would be reckless for me to buy any more! I see we're neck and neck in the UK Stock Challenge at positions 7 and 8 - more luck than judgment in my case :-) Well done though. | puzzler2
23/12/2016 10:17 | hi puzzler just added some more xmas treat | laserdisc

22/12/2016 20:19 | "Doing my usual thing buying then doing my research" That's also the way I do it. I'm not an academic...I need to have a bit of emotional attachment to my investing. When I "spot" a share, I make a smallish purchase. Once I'm then in the game I find it much easier to analyse and evaluate (including trawling through post after post on these bbs). If,as with HUR (and also IAE), my subsequent analysis justifies my original token purchase, I increase my holding significantly. If not I quietly dump the token purchase. Probably flies in the face of all sound investment advice, but it has worked occasionally for me. EDIT : Forgot to mention I also occasionally do have a quiet dump. :-) | lfdkmp
22/12/2016 19:50 | Holding up well, bought in as the share price has been stable after this weeks rise, usually a good indicator. Doing my usual thing buying then doing my research, but the more I read the more I like. | quemaster
22/12/2016 16:36 | closed in auction at 47.75p with ~100k or so shs.... | leeson31
22/12/2016 13:17 | Great company and a Great management my best investment by a Mile.Wish l had 2 of these. | gary38
22/12/2016 13:00 | Every cloud has a silver... At least Dr T can now spend Christmas at home as I don't see much reason to be on the rig while Barbara blows by. Maybe a Hogmanay visit instead and onto spudding Halifax. I also find it hard to justify the pessimism seemingly creeping in. To review 2016.... Shareprice quadrupled; Fully funded and 2 calls oversubscribed...mor Screaming success with the drillbit...potential Next spud imminent; New CPR (on steroids) due Q1; EPS details Q2 Talented, tenacious and dedicated management team. For God's sake what's not to like? All the best for the Season. I believe 2017 could be even more spectacular for HUR holders. | pcok
22/12/2016 12:16 | I don't understand the negativity on here. HUR have had an amazing year. Dr Trice and the team have done everything that could have been asked of them. They've had success after success with the drill bit and have been very astute with their deal making, raising money in a poor market that has allowed them to drill these wells at a fraction of the cost they would be in a good market. I have 100% faith that the good Dr will get the right deal for us going forward. This is a company with a huge resource and quality management. | gisjob2
22/12/2016 12:12 | Its interesting Leeson that you mention Afren as it illustrates my point exactly. When Afren went bust it was the equity holders (and unusually the bondholders too) that got burned. Afren's wealth, the oil in the ground, is now being enjoyed by the new owners of the assets. The wealth represented by the assets didn't go up in a puff of smoke but instead the equity holders share of ownership that vanished. Others then took ownership. I'm not pessimistic nor am I about to sell my investment but a realistic scrutiny of the investment case is always, as pointed out by someone earlier, a healthy thing. I have to admit that I don't give all of my investments this level of scrutiny even though I know I should, but like many others I am heavily into this. Plus, mulling over these issues is part of the pleasure of investing. | jacks13
22/12/2016 12:05 | "why did they buy the stock and stil hold if they bought to invest?" Perfectly legitimate to question / debate future funding and at what levels without being questioned as to why people are invested here! BH | bloodhound
22/12/2016 11:52 | its the disapointment of the non big reaction though, that imo is now causing concern.. on that basis then, do you now have concerns over your investment? as far as im concerned, the share price is doing great, just ~32 trading days ago it was ~32p. this monday it was 51.5p, now its ~47.5p isnt that pretty good?????? i have no concerns... plenty of co.s ive invested in had this 'issue' where they struck oil, then had the 'awful' problem of having to raise financing in some wway to then develop the asset, thus to then get the maassive income thereafter.. as an example, afren, their EBOK asset, it came in much bigger after appraisal, thhey then needed to raise capex to develop it, they got to production, it was a flagshiop producing asset which made masssive amounts of yearly income..... this is how the oil business works... if anyone has concerns about hur now having to raise financing to develop lancaster to production, then i ask, why did they buy the stock and stil hold if they bought to invest? this is what oil co.s have to do, find oil, develop it to production.... | leeson31
22/12/2016 11:45 | Surely, if Halifax comes in and at the right depth, then this makes the possibility of as the company says: "The Company believes that if mobile oil can be demonstrated outside of local structural closure at Halifax, then the Lancaster Field could extend further North East along the Rona Ridge." ever more likely. Given the above, raising money at 45p seems a touch on the low side to me, much more likely to be a £+ in my view. BH | bloodhound
22/12/2016 11:44 | Good posts Leeson Lets see where we are post Halifax and lets not forget all this is in an environment of POO recovering which IMO is fundamental. One step at at time............... PD | pounddreamer
22/12/2016 11:40 | The flaw in your argument Leeson is that the share price is 48p and not the hypothetical 65p. And its 48p for a reason. Put simply the reason is that oil in the ground is not the same as money in the bank. A simple 'psychological twist' that many investors, myself included, have fallen for. | jacks13
22/12/2016 11:24 | yes sorry, i meant q2 not h2.... ppl were talking about debt for equity swaps yesterday... this hsnt gone bust.. its not afren or gkp or enq to an extent, but ppl were talking so negatively where i feel it was unjust, at this time..... here's a psychological twist for you, i Bet you, if the share price today was say ~65p, there would absolutely be NO ONE talking about capex and worry and BS...... but because the share price didnt fly off the handle like lancaster did, and actually see the share price reaction to mondays lincoln news at subdued, therefore ppl go on the negative side of things.... thus we have this convo now..... just my opnion... but, im happy with my investment, ive invested in a lot of co.s over the years at different stages of their success/progress, and i see this is very encouraging progressive stage of hur's success.... balanced argument yes, but unjustly talking about D4E swaps.. wtf! lol cheers... | leeson31
