07/8/2008 10:43 | I'll give you a little quote from Momentum Investor and while you read about it think about the smog in China at the Olympics: "However, what really confirms Goodwin as a genuine growth stock is that it has another business involved in supplying key components to make power stations more efficient which is also doing well thanks to huge demand from China" CR | cockneyrebel
06/8/2008 15:14 | On the up, gonna be more and more buyers as the results approach imo - getting closer CR | cockneyrebel
04/8/2008 17:43 | for a long termer you have a very short term watch - I suspect your the scalper you've always been Frauddy, despite yor protestations. CR | cockneyrebel
04/8/2008 16:48 | Crookney, there are winners its true, CTT for example....... | ydderf
04/8/2008 11:23 | Agreed. A few other bear market ideas put forward in Moneyweek - TSCO, ULVR, GSK, Agco (I like this one) and Japan Steel Works (makes nuclear reactor vessels with a competitive edge). Numbers from Syngenta (SYG) were pretty good too though shares highly priced. | dasv
04/8/2008 10:34 | Yep, I wasn't suggesting anyone buy those that I listed, I was just pointing out that even in a 'bear market' there are winners. CR | cockneyrebel
04/8/2008 10:24 | Though have to say picks from CR which are new to me have better looking charts than mine - BEG, BGC, AVV. And I'm not saying buy - no ramp etc. AU. - I think a lot of good news is already priced in but have always liked this company. Have held on and off and done well from it. VCT - yep agree. liarspoker's ABC is coming down to potential buy in levels again though it spiked. | dasv
03/8/2008 22:37 | Cheers guys. Will do. | chrismcglone
03/8/2008 20:12 | also check out PFC, URKA, ALO :) | dasv
03/8/2008 20:04 | that might be true, but there are always winners even in a bear market. Have a look at VCT, BEG, AVV, AU. BGC. GDWN are going in my Stockchallenge this month - don't reckon there's a better bet with the results approaching. CR | cockneyrebel
03/8/2008 19:58 | CR, in general i think the market is in a reasonable position to rise over the next few months. A lot of stuff has been near beaten into submission and looks ripe for a bounce. However, i still think we could be a year or so away from putting in a proper bottom (doesn't sound right that does it) that will establish a base for the next bull market. Simply still too much negative stuff to surface IMO. Warren Buffets prediction that we could finish the decade where we started could be spot on. On the plus side of that however is that we could be due a decent if unspectacular rise over the next 2 years. Here's hoping. | chrismcglone
03/8/2008 16:11 | Hmmm, take a look at the energy support stocks, WG. HNT, WSM, AVV - hardly off their highs - GDWN growing 2-4 times as fast as any of them and on half the PE. Results here get closer and closer - big wake up call for all those that have sat and watched here imo. I'd get a copy of that Momentum Investor and read that if you want convincing - before these have another 200 point rally :-) CR | cockneyrebel
03/8/2008 14:10 | I still think there is carnage to come across the board. This current bear market won't be over until there is at least one final big shakeout. Still not nearly enough pessimism out there for me. This time next year everything will be cheaper and i look forward to buying GDWN and many more for the long term. Only my opinion of course. Don't mind being proven wrong as i am sitting on some big drops already. | chrismcglone
01/8/2008 16:00 | yep, GRG were down that yesterday too. Difference is over one year GDWN are up 50% still - whereas over one year GRG is down 30%. That and the fact profits in GDWN are up 300% iin 4 years whereas GRG can only manage 20% in that time! And if you'd bought GDWN a few weeks ago instead of GRG you'd be in profit rather than a loss. CR | cockneyrebel
01/8/2008 15:52 | crookney, goodwin down 7% GRG up 7% today, funny old game isn't it? | ydderf
01/8/2008 08:17 | sorry but if you want bto make money in GDWN you've got to buy when there's a few whoosey sellers of a few hundred about, knocking the price - cos on news you'll never get in - moves up 200p in a flash as you've seen this week. Someone got 7K this week @ £11. When the market opens a bit weak that's the time to buy instead of chasing it when it's up £2 on a tip! CR | cockneyrebel
31/7/2008 13:19 | nice bit more added to the rise yesterday. just 3 weeks to the results - reckon we'll keep seeing tick ups till we get there. I see WSM, ROR and lots of others in the sector are bouncing - and their PE's are double that of GDWN and half the growth rate! CR | cockneyrebel
28/7/2008 19:18 | wow a lot of posts here now, a few day traders getting into gdwn on the tip but medium term worth at least £16, no advice intended, just a bit of patience required here, now just have to wait for investors who buy pre-results | pav 1
28/7/2008 18:52 | aftertimer! | kneecaps2
28/7/2008 16:55 | Can you trade these shares with IG? I trade not very successfully with finspreads. This lunchtime I wanted to short GDWN after that sharp rise but f/spreads don't accept this co. It's frustrating to see I was right! This has happened with several other shares like bdev etc. Can you recommend IG? | moormoney
28/7/2008 16:18 | no problem. | cockneyrebel
28/7/2008 14:42 | Thanks for your help CR. | gswredland
28/7/2008 14:41 | Yep - and Yuan has only one place to go and that's up against USD. | dasv
28/7/2008 14:36 | They say there's big demand for their high temperature materials in the Chinese Power Stations to make them more efficient and cleaner. I had the Oil Check Valves as being a big growth product out there but obviously these are big too. The Yuan has risen 10% v the £ over the past year too so for those selling into China they get a currency boost. CR | cockneyrebel |
