None of the candidate vaccines in advanced clinical trials so far has demonstrated a "clear signal" of efficacy at the level of at least 50% sought by the WHO, spokeswoman Margaret Harris said.

What a surprise!!

Why is it that I am the only person who seems to realise the importance of voluntary airport testing for outbound passengers, given that many countries need a negative result to go? It's not rocket science for those with any brain cells.

Virgin Atlantic to cut another 1,000 jobs.

The carrier plans to cut more jobs after seeing demand recover more slowly than initially anticipated, Sky News learns.

The latest round of cuts would mean that Virgin Atlantic's workforce has almost halved from its pre-pandemic level.

Portugal and Greece have retained their places on the Government’s quarantine exemption list despite pressure to remove them after a rise in coronavirus cases.

Transport Secretary Grant Shapps this afternoon (September 3) announced there were no changes to the list tomorrow.

However he warned that the list is under 'constant review' and they 'won’t hesitate to remove countries if needed'.

The decision comes after many holidaymakers booked flights home costing up to £554 to avoid a potential quarantine requirement.

Tour operator TUI has said it would no longer be offering holidays to the resort of Laganas on Zante from Thursday.

Holidaymakers across the UK have been left confused after Wales added Portugal to its quarantines list, but England and Scotland did not.

The Azores and Madeira remain exempt from Wales's quarantine list.

Along with Portugal, Wales has removed Gibraltar, French Polynesia and the Greek islands of Mykonos, Zakynthos, Lesvos, Paros and Antiparos and Crete from the list of exempt countries and territories.

Anyone returning to Wales from those countries after 04:00 on Friday must self-isolate for 14 days.

Budget airlines have long invented absurd fees, but social media lit up this weekend over Wizz Air’s fee for using an ad blocker while buying a ticket on its website.

Hungary’s decision to close its borders to international visitors from Sept. 1 in a bid to halt coronavirus infections has prompted Wizz Air to scale back capacity.

As a result, Wizz will reduce its flying program from its home country. The number of flights will reduce from about 126 to 32 flights per week.

Britain’s second-biggest airline Wizz has warned it may have to “park planes” to preserve cash as the Covid crisis wreaks havoc on the industry during the leaner winter months.

In all honesty I cannot take much more than 10minutes wearing a mask, just for that reason I will not be flying anytime soon. Its a bit of a bummer but that’s it for me for maybe 18 months maybe more who knows.

People are waking up to the fact that although flying was already a big hassle since the extra security measures were introduced post-9/11, it’s now WAY more hassle because of Covid. People want to go abroad to relax and enjoy themselves, not to spend hours on a plane wearing a mask, then trying to comply with resort restrictions, numerous restaurant rules, then worrying about the latest quarantine laws when they get back etc etc. There is no way airlines are going to make profit over the next 6-9 months, and some of them won’t survive.

I can see this going sub £5 before the end of the week. Not a lot to be positive about now the main holiday season is over and kids are back to school. Also looks like Portugal will be put back on the UKs travel restriction.

2 key players pulling everything down today 1) GBP is up vs USD 2) fear of more countries locking down. Most of the ftse100 is down today. I do however feel theres more to fall here with the holiday period up (my opinion). Airlines have more of a challenge on their hands.
