This won't affect EZJ one bit as I suspect VA are going under due to no transatlantic flights being done.

Who has seen the latest Spain numbers?? 5,760 today which is another doubling of the c.3,000 level only a few days ago (which itself had doubled from c.1,500 a few days before that). Rather vindicates the UK government advice from a few days ago! And really bad news for the airline industry because there can surely be no doubt that other countries will be on a similar trajectory just like they all followed Italy in March.

Oxford/AZN are on Phase 2/3 already.

Pharma had a head start as there was a lot ground work with SARS.

Virologists will make a huge leap forward with COVID if they can mitigate the
more serious cases. We already live with a coronovirus in the common cold.

Seasonal flu globally kills well over half a million people a year,
the figure for pneumonia will be far higher.

Autumn-winter looks messy and even with a potential vaccine next year,
recovery will be a multi year process.

“Even the most negative of doom mongers would have to agree that with so much research going on around the World there will be several options available shortly.”

Not so - Chris Witty said just the other day that a vaccine could be many years away. So did the guy that used to chair SAGE. It’s far from clear. As I said, they’ve been looking for a HIV vaccine for 31 years and counting...

When you say shortly what is your timescale? Naive to think this year and airport testing without an expensive follow up at customer cost is a non-starter.

gettingrichslow that is just one of the vaccines being developed.

In the meantime drop a few stones, stop smoking, stay away from BAME areas and shops oh and wash your hands ;-)

From HL website...

EasyJet has expanded its summer schedule after better than expected demand from customers and says it expects to operate about 1,000 flights a day in August.

The budget carrier said popular destinations included Faro and Nice, along with city breaks such as Amsterdam and Paris. EasyJet will have 210 planes flying this month, and expects to operate 40% of its capacity between July and September, higher than the 30% predicted at its first-half results.

Just need one unfortunate case of a super spreader track back to an aeroplane anywhere in the world, and it’s game over.

Look what’s happened yet again on the first cruises since lockdown was relaxed.

Then you have thousands of pilots who have not flown for six months, back in the air, and sure to make mistakes, be it not life threatening, in the vast majority of cases.

Add on stranded Customers as the weaker airlines go bust.

Don’t forget sudden worldwide emergency measures, when the banks go bust, will cause havoc.

Read your own article Tlobs! It says it’s 50/50 whether they even complete the trial. Then it’s got to actually work. Then it’s got to provide lasting antibodies (no good if it’s just for a couple of months). Then it has got to be scaleable. Then it has got to be taken by enough people. And the virus must not have mutated in the meantime. The reality is that it’s unlikely all these things will happen. Which might explain why we still don’t have a vaccine for HIV 31 years on from it appearing?!

EZT has two options, the smart move is to shut down, and re start when the virus is cleared.

OR

Play to shareholders, expand flights and hope for the best.

Unfortunately in business the second move, tends to cost shareholders dear.

Why don’t they tell the truth and publish the actual number of passengers on each flight excluding the NO SHOWS .

Is it not deception ?

Sunshine, I think you’re probably right. Except I’d put it at more like 60/40 chance. What exactly is going to stop a second wave taking hold in Europe by winter. Can you answer that question Tlobs?
