Ryanair is to cut flight capacity by a fifth over the next two months as it warned bookings have "noticeably weakened" after coronavirus case numbers have risen across many European countries.

This has now lost over 63% of its value since late February. But the thing that seems strange to me was that by late February it was already clear that we were entering a massive crisis. So who exactly was buying at that point??

Should of done it earlier, France is out of control, even the immigrants are fleeing to blighty on boats.

Now we will get a spike in infections as the Brits return, many won’t even bother about quarantine

TUI is battling for survival after the cancellation of summer holidays triggered a record loss of £1.3billion in just three months, equivalent to more than £14million a day.

Revenues collapsed by 98.5 per cent to £67million in the three months to the end of June as thousands of flights were grounded and its holiday resorts sat empty.

Bosses yesterday said they were considering a rights issue or selling part of its business, such as the Marella cruise line, to ensure its long-term survival.

The collapse in demand for overseas trips has also forced it to cut the number of holidays it is offering for the coming winter by 40 per cent and the number of summer 2021 holidays by 20 per cent.

Uk Government has placed quarantine on France set to come in at 4am Sunday.

The review of the rules today saw the Netherlands and Malta added to the quarantine list - and Portugal remains on it, along with Spain.

LBC Radio just reported that the decision to add France to quarantine list is likely to be announced in the next couple of hours. Terrible news for airlines, hoteliers etc but utterly inevitable and wholly predictable.

Malta and The Netherlands are set to be removed from England’s travel corridor list because of an upsurge of COVID-19 cases, The Guardian newspaper reported on Thursday afternoon.

UK ministers are still mulling over a decision on France.

The newspaper said the decision appeared to have been taken on Wednesday and was to have been announced on Thursday. However, Prime Minister Boris Johnson intervened to pause plans, with more time now being given to analyse COVID-19 cases in France to see whether it should be removed alongside the other locations.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said his government was prepared to be ruthless with even its closest partners over COVID-19 quarantine rules, after he was asked whether France would be removed from the government’s safe-travel list.

“We’ve got to be absolutely ruthless about this, even with our closest and dearest friends and partners around the world,” Johnson told reporters on a visit to Northern Ireland.

“We will be looking at the data a bit later on this afternoon ... looking at exactly where France and other countries are getting to, and you know we can’t be remotely complacent about our own situation.”
