Game over for Portugal. 646 cases just announced which is another massive jump. Won’t be many on those EasyJet flights soon once the tourists already in Portugal are repatriated. Another loss-making country soon for EasyJet, to add to the growing list.

The average punter that easyjet rely on would be flooding the booking website if the govt gave the slightest indication they are on top of this virus. I fear the message will be getting much worse shortly and even the stupidest punter will begin to recognise the risks. I have no short on this share but I think it is a barometer of public opinion and I am interested to see how this plays out.

If eu do what has been in the latest news saying they will ban brits coming abroad, what will that do to ezj.So many ways airline companies can be kicked, just not worth the worry imo to buy this year at the least.

Fuji, agree it won’t be ‘no flying’. But a lot of those flights being taken pre-pandemic were far from essential. Business flights will therefore reduce as people now realise better that they can do it on Zoom or Teams and save cost and time. Leisure flights will reduce because it’s just no fun sitting on a plane with a mask on, on top of the quarantine risks etc etc. It was bad enough already post-9/11 with all the security measures etc. So where is the profit going to be made with all these expensive planes sitting around? The answer is that it won’t.

gettingrichslow - Agree with you 100%. This means the world has to adapt to a "new normal", including the way people fly and do business. Flying will always be at the forefront of trading nations otherwise economies will die. So "New normal" will be flying with additional precautions and checks, but it will never be "no flying".

Regardless of what’s happening,go back to March and say the same thing then. When things out of your control happen you can’t do anything regardless.if you knew a hurricane was going to hit in the next two days would you make plans for a day out. It’s the same with this covid19 you cannot make plans when the people don’t follow the rules,so imo the government will use measures again after the holiday season [summer]and state they are doing so due to people not sticking to the rules.

Albert, one thing that has become clear to me since this pandemic came along is just how deluded a lot of people seem to be about it. Their inherent optimism seems to completely blind them to reality. This is an absolute gift in investing terms because all one has to do is keep a level head and you will make money big time, because the market is being distorted by all this unrealistic outlook. In March, when I was posting on various discussion boards on here that this virus isn’t going to go away in weeks or months, and may well be with us for years, I could barely find another person who agreed...

Regardless of what's happening around, EZJ will remain the only decent budget airline to thrive. It will even be able to control its ticket prices to get the maximum as no other competition threat will remain.

Restrictions will be added, not lifted. We’re not even into the cold snap yet. When Europe gets cold and wet everyone will be forced indoors, and that’s when the virus will really thrive.

If you don’t act on an expected event you will lose out, which is why you act on it,there will be no high demand for winter sun.i won’t be wrong.

EasyJet to operate 'less than 40%' planned Q4 capacity/

The airline said customer confidence to make travel plans has been negatively affected by measures adopted across Europe, including the UK adding seven Greek islands to the mandatory quarantine list.

It is important for Easyjet to keep their fleet update in place as the A320 Neo is c20% more fuel efficient then the current A320's and any A321XLRs Easyjet maybe bringing in are a further 20% more fuel efficient then the Neo's.
