Clean Diesel Technologies Seeks Licenses for ARIS 2000 Selective Catalytic Reduction; Strong Patent Base Boosts Global Partner Program for Airless Injector

STAMFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)----Clean Diesel Technologies Inc. (CDT) (OTCBB:CDTI) (AIM:CDT) (AIM:CDTS), a developer of chemical and technological solutions to reduce harmful engine emissions, stated today its intention to step up licensing negotiations with global, tier-one automotive suppliers following strengthened patent protection behind one of its primary commercial technologies - the ARIS(R) 2000 injection system for Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) of nitrogen oxides (NOx).

CDT already has a number of active U.S. patents for ARIS(R) 2000's single fluid, flow-cooled injector which removes the need for a separate air supply. Two of those patents have gone to grant in Europe and a notice of intention to grant has been received on a third fundamental patent, providing even stronger IP protection.

Clean Diesel's revolutionary injector not only simplifies SCR installation on heavy-duty vehicles, it also enables the introduction of a liquid reagent, such as the widely available reagent Urea, into the exhaust streams of lighter duty engines not usually equipped with compressed air systems. This key benefit makes SCR, already the favoured NOx reduction technology, even more attractive to both the original equipment (OE) and retrofit diesel engine markets.

Dr. Bernhard Steiner, chief executive officer of Clean Diesel Technologies Inc., commented: "There is immediate market potential for ARIS(R) 2000 in Europe where vehicle manufacturers and aftermarket suppliers are looking for compact, cost-effective NOx-reduction systems to meet emissions regulations such as Euro IV and V. This latest patent allows Clean Diesel to seek new business partners and licensees actively - especially in the light truck, van and car markets where historical air-powered injectors have been a cumbersome compromise. Furthermore, as the USA and Asia follow Europe's legislative lead, we believe SCR and ARIS(R) 2000 will develop into truly global solutions."

CDT is showcasing ARIS(R) 2000 to potential licensees at a trade conference in Brussels, June 14-15, 2005: "Euro IV & V Strategies for Buyers & Suppliers" (www.integer-research.com/Products/Conference/ ?ServiceID=69&ckIndustryID=4). STAMFORD, Conn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)----Clean Diesel Technologies Inc. (CDT) (OTCBB:CDTI) (AIM:CDT) (AIM:CDTS), a developer of chemical and technological solutions to reduce harmful engine emissions, announced its results for the first quarter 2005. CDT reported total revenue for the first quarter 2005 of $192,000 with a net loss of $1,191,000, or $0.07 loss per share. This compares to 2004 first quarter total revenue of $194,000 and a net loss of $808,000, or $0.05 loss per share, for the same quarterly period in 2004.
In the first quarter, Platinum Plus(R) fuel-borne catalyst (FBC) and Purifier System revenue increased due to the completion of the first of two retrofit projects in Pennsylvania. The second larger project is targeted for completion in the second quarter. In addition, purifier systems were installed on off-road and construction applications in the Northeast. FBC shipments to mining operations increased as additional particulate filters were added to comply with MSHA regulations for reducing particulate matter (PM) in underground mines. The FBC helps keep filters from plugging with soot at low temperatures and avoids the large increase in NO2 emissions from traditional heavily catalyzed systems.
Revenue for ARIS(R), CDT's urea-injection system for NOx reduction, decreased in the first quarter, but is expected to pick up in the second quarter based on delivery of booked orders and new awards to ARIS licensees in the U.S. and Japan.
Expenses increased in the first quarter compared to prior year due to increased personnel costs associated with the international operations, increased sales and marketing activity and platinum emission testing.
Testing Confirms Emissions Substantially Lower Than Standards
As announced in January 2005, CDT has been conducting additional testing during the first quarter to address questions from the EPA (U.S. Environmental Protection Agency) on the use of its FBC. Testing results from two independent EPA-accepted laboratories showed less than 1 percent of the platinum emitted is in a potentially allergenic form; this is similar to reported amounts for platinum emissions from autocats and diesel catalysts currently in use worldwide.
The measured emissions of potentially soluble platinum were under one microgram per horsepower hour of work from an engine emitting over 100,000 micrograms per horsepower hour of toxic soot particulates. The ambient levels of soluble platinum from the use of the Platinum Plus FBC are hundreds to thousands of times below the most stringent standards published for safe exposure on a regular basis using an industry-accepted urban canyon model and assuming varying levels of FBC market penetration.
The independent testing results have been submitted to EPA.
Ongoing Developments
CDT is in discussions for several licensing and distribution agreements for its Platinum Plus FBC and ARIS technologies in both the U.S. and Europe and it expects agreements to be announced in the near future.
In the U.S. CDT has initiated an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) development program targeted at integrating the Platinum Plus FBC into advanced engine-exhaust systems designed to meet strict 2007 particulate emission standards. These standards will require the use of diesel-particulate filters on new engines and the FBC will help keep the filters from plugging with soot during low temperature operation and city driving. Use of the FBC is also expected to reduce the platinum loading used on devices and reduce fuel-economy penalty.

I Have lost 75% of my original capital on this star prefomer so may as well hang on till 100% is lost. The problem seems to be very simple.

a) Although the Company have an outstanding product they dont seem be able to generate sales.

b) The cash burn rate is very high and therefore the dilution factor keeps rearing its head.

Can anyone offer any hope????

Clean Diesel Technologies Reports 2004 Fourth-Quarter and Year-End Results
March 29, 2005 01:30:00 AM ET

Clean Diesel Technologies Inc. (CDT) CDTI (AIM:CDT) (AIM:CDTS), a developer of chemical and technological solutions to reduce harmful engine emissions, today announced its results for the fourth quarter and year ended Dec. 31, 2004. CDT reported an increase in Platinum Plus(R) additive and hardware revenue for the fourth quarter of 2004 and year-to-date over prior year periods. Total revenue for the fourth quarter was $194,000 with a net loss of $1,207,000, or $0.07 loss per share. This compares to total revenue of $89,000 and a net loss of $1,089,000, or $0.08 loss per share, for the same quarterly period in 2003. For the year ended Dec. 31, 2004, total revenue was $722,000 with a net loss of $4,143,000 or $0.26 loss per share. In the comparable 2003 period, revenue was $567,000 with a net loss of $3,245,000 or $0.26 loss per share.

The fourth quarter increase in Platinum Plus fuel borne catalyst (FBC) and Platinum Plus Purifier (hardware) revenue is attributable to initial sales of CDT's Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) verified system to several East Coast fleets and continued growth of FBC sales in the U.S. underground mining industry. CDT expects to build on the fourth quarter revenue as its FBC gains increased recognition in the United States, Europe and Asia for improving after-treatment devices such as filters and diesel oxidation catalysts (DOCs) and the retrofit markets expand. Sales of the FBC and hardware to beverage delivery, refuse and off-road vehicles were delayed in the fourth quarter as a result of requirements for automatic and on-board additive dosing technologies development and installation.

Dr. Bernhard Steiner, Clean Diesel Technologies CEO, commented: "The fourth quarter of 2004 saw increased European activity for the company with the establishment of a U.K. representative office, Clean Diesel International LLC, in December and the first European Platinum Plus FBC orders for diesel particulate filters."

Steiner also announced: "Clean Diesel International, in conjunction with its partner Dinex, was listed on the UK Energy Savings Trust Cleanup register for the Platinum Plus FBC in combination with a Silicon Carbide diesel particulate filter (DPF) from Dinex. Also late in 2004 Clean Diesel International's local Danish partner Daugbjerg, received Danish approval for the Platinum Plus FBC/DPF system. As a result Daugbjerg has been awarded two contracts for the FBC/DPF system as part of Copenhagen's DPF retrofit program."

In the United States, CDT has initiated a development program targeted at integrating the Platinum Plus FBC into advanced engines designed to meet strict 2007 particulate emission standards. These standards will require the use of diesel particulate filters on new engines and the FBC should help the filters from plugging during low temperature operation in city driving.

CDT's U.S. licensee for the ARIS(R) urea injection system received additional orders for the patented ARIS injector for mobile NOx reduction including an award from the state of Texas to verify the system with the EPA. Together CDT and Combustion Components Associates are approaching several European exhaust manufacturers about incorporating the ARIS injector into their NOx control systems for new and existing vehicles.

Activity for application of the ARIS system for diesel stationary power generation is expected to expand in Japan due to the recent initiatives under the Kyoto agreement.

Expenses increased in the fourth quarter and the full year primarily due to the increased personnel costs associated with the European operations as well as the hiring of a new CEO. CDT has also increased its sales and marketing activity in the quarter and the year. Incremental financial advisory fees in the third quarter associated with a potential stock registration also impacted the full year expenses.

Full financial information is included in the company's Form 10-K filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission (www.SEC.gov).
