CLEAN DIESEL TECHNOLOGIES SELECTED AS PARTNER
IN TWO DIESEL RETROFIT PROJECTS IN PENNSYLVANIA

State Department of Environmental Protection to Provide Grants to
Waste Management and Coca-Cola Enterprises for Purchase of CDT Retrofit Systems

STAMFORD, CT (May 27, 2004 ) ... Clean Diesel Technologies, Inc. (CDT) (EBB:CDTI
& AIM:CDT/CDTS) announced today that it has been selected as a participant in
two projects awarded funding by the State of Pennsylvania to retrofit
diesel-powered equipment in that state. CDT will supply its EPA-verified
Platinum Plus(R) Purifier system to fleet owners Waste Management, Inc. and
Coca-Cola Enterprises Inc. (CCE) in ground-breaking programs to retrofit over
140 refuse trucks, beverage delivery trucks and landfill equipment at several
sites in Pennsylvania.

The awards were announced Monday May 24, 2004, by Nicholas DiPasquale,
Deputy Secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection,
during the launch of the Philadelphia Diesel Difference Program organized to
promote voluntary diesel retrofit projects in the Philadelphia area.

"Emissions from diesel engines can be reduced by using clean fuels and by
retrofitting engines with exhaust control technologies," DiPasquale said. "
These grants will help companies and organizations purchase technology to lower
emissions, especially particulate matter and hazardous air pollutants, coming
from their fleets. The result is healthier air for all of us."

The grant funds totaling approximately $335,000 will be used by CCE and
Waste Management to purchase the Platinum Plus Purifier diesel oxidation
catalyst as well as the Platinum Plus Fuel-Borne Catalyst (FBC). Used together,
these two technologies reduce emissions both inside the engine and in the
exhaust. CDT will install automatic dosing equipment to assure that the fuel
used by the fleets is properly treated with the FBC. CCE and Waste Management
will provide installation of the Purifiers on their vehicles as part of the
overall program.

"CDT has worked with CCE and Waste Management for over 18 months in
several field trials and engine dynamometer tests to confirm the performance of
the system and to support EPA and California Air Resources Board (CARB)
verifications," said James Valentine, President of CDT. "This award will allow
the first large-scale fleet demonstration of the EPA-verified Platinum Plus
Purifier System, and further confirms it as a cost-effective retrofit solution
for a wide range of diesel-powered equipment. Because diesels tend to last
10-15 years, clean-up of existing equipment is important in reducing emissions,
especially in urban areas," Valentine added.

CLEAN DIESEL JOINS EPA SmartWaySM TRANSPORT PARTNERSHIP

Company Partners with EPA and Over 40 Corporate Truck Fleets

to Improve Fuel Efficiency and Reduce Emissions From Ground-Freight
Transportation

STAMFORD, CT (February 9, 2004) . . . Clean Diesel Technologies, Inc. (CDT)
(EBB:CDTI & AIM:CDT/CDTS) announced today that it has joined the US
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) SmartWaySM Transport partnership, a
national, public-private partnership formed to reduce greenhouse gases and other
emissions from ground-freight transportation. CDT and other industry partners
are being recognized by EPA Administrator Mike Leavitt today during a press
event in Washington, DC. The event marks the formal introduction of the SmartWay
Transport partnership and recognizes the first companies to join this important
private-public effort to promote cleaner, more efficient ground-freight
transportation.

"Clearly there are a lot of synergies between the SmartWay program and other
diesel retrofit initiatives," commented CDT President Jim Valentine. "CDT is
proud to be a member of this growing program and is looking forward to working
with EPA and other SmartWay program partners."

CDT is a small but fast-growing manufacturer of diesel fuel additives and
emission control devices. It not only works with SmartWay partners to improve
their fleet operations but has committed to ship the bulk of its own products
with SmartWay partners as well. Valentine continued, "Working in conjunction
with Coca-Cola Enterprises (CCE), a SmartWay Charter Partner, CDT has recently
demonstrated the ability of its Platinum Plus(R) fuel-borne catalyst (FBC) to
improve fuel economy and to reduce all regulated emissions. Over 450 delivery
vehicles are now operating with this Cleaner Burning DieselTM fuel formulation,
which is made by adding Platinum Plus to normal diesel, ultra-low sulfur diesel
or biodiesel.

"Other commercial applications include refuse trucks, off-road equipment and
mining equipment, and we're in discussions with other SmartWay partners about
applications with their fleets. With over 20 million miles of trouble-free
service, we're excited about what our technology can do for local delivery
fleets and over-the-road carriers,"Valentine added.

Working with CCE under the EPA's SmartWay program also helped CDT generate the
field data needed to verify the emission reductions of its advanced diesel
retrofit controls under the EPA-sponsored Environmental Technology Verification
(ETV) diesel retrofit program. CDT recently verified the Platinum Plus Purifier
system for 40-50 percent particulate reduction under the rigorous ETV testing
protocol. The verification showed the system, which can be used on heavy duty
dieselengines for many applications such as school buses and trucks,
significantly reduced particulate matter and other pollutants. The report can be
found at www.epa.gov/etv . CDT also has a second system being verified under the
ETV program which is targeted at 60-75 percent reduction levels.

Valentine concluded, "Participating early with a SmartWay partner gave us the
thousands of hours of field operation needed to verify the durability of our
emission reduction systems, and gave CCE the opportunity to see performance in
their fleet operating environment. An added benefit is that the engines tested
are the same as those used in school buses, which are the focus of a nationwide
retrofit initiative under EPA's Clean School Bus Retrofit Program."

About SmartWay Transport

SmartWay Transport, a voluntary partnership between various freight industry
sectors and EPA, was created to promote technologies that conserve energy and
reduce emissions affecting human health, especially in densely populated urban
areas. The partnership's emission-reduction goals will represent an estimated
savings of 150 million barrels of oil a year, the equivalent of taking 12
million cars off the road.

Clean Diesel Completes Rigorous Testing of New Diesel Emission Control System Jointly Developed with Mitsui Subsidiary
January 22, 2004 02:30:00 AM ET

Receives Preliminary Posting to EPA Diesel Retrofit Web site

Clean Diesel Technologies Inc. (CDT) (EBB:CDTI)(AIM:CDT)(AIM:CDTS) announced today that it had completed testing of its new fuel-borne catalyst (FBC) and catalyzed wire-mesh filter (CWMF) diesel-emission reduction system under the rigorous Environmental Technology Verification (ETV) protocol established by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to verify retrofit technology. The FBC/CWMF system uses CDT's patented Platinum Plus(R) fuel-borne catalyst and a proprietary catalyzed wire-mesh filter supplied by PUREarth Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of Mitsui & Co. Ltd.

Under the ETV Program, suppliers of commercial diesel retrofit technologies are required to sign a contract with EPA's third-party administrator to conduct a detailed engine test program at an independent EPA-approved lab. Completion of testing by CDT has been noted on the EPA Voluntary Diesel Retrofit Program Web site ( and final emission-reduction results will be posted to the Web site once EPA and the third-party administrator complete their final review of the data.

CDT and PUREarth have been working since December 2002 on several programs to verify the emission-reduction performance of PUREarth's CWMF and CDT's Platinum Plus FBC. As previously announced, two earlier engine test programs conducted at Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) have shown particulate reductions of 65 to 70 percent with hydrocarbons (HC) and carbon monoxide (CO) reductions of over 75 percent. Reductions of greater than 50 percent reduction in particulate matter can qualify as a level two verification under the California Air Resources Board (CARB) Diesel Risk Reduction program targeting retrofit controls to over 1.2 million engines. Verification by EPA is also required for funding under a number of state and federal retrofit programs.

During 2003 several FBC/CWMF systems were placed in commercial service on refuse trucks in California and beverage delivery trucks in Texas using automatically dosed FBC-treated fuel. These applications represent the toughest conditions for a filter due to low exhaust temperatures and higher soot emissions from older, dirtier engines built in 1990-1993. The FBC reduces engine-out soot by 15-25 percent and assists in further oxidizing soot that collects in the specially catalyzed CWMF. This prevents plugging of the filter with soot even at low exhaust temperatures.

Under a previously announced Memorandum of Understanding, initially PUREarth will manufacture the CWMF devices in Japan and CDT will provide application engineering and marketing in the United States, as well as selling and distributing the FBC. CDT is also managing the CARB and EPA verification programs. CDT and PUREarth are continuing discussions with several potential marketing and distribution partners in the United States to address both the retrofit and new vehicle market for diesel particulate reduction. To begin with, the FBC/CWMF system will be targeted at school bus fleets, delivery vehicles and refuse trucks.

CDT previously verified its Platinum Plus Purifier (FBC/DOC) system for 40-50 percent particulate reduction in October 2003 under the ETV program, and the FBC/CWMF system will extend the emission reduction to the next higher level of performance at a lower cost than traditional heavily catalyzed filter systems.

This is one of my smaller holdings, where I have essentially taken a punt, but I must admit I like the story. However, its a little unnerving that nobody else appears to be excited (judging by the minute volume) but todays news is further evidence that this could get quite exciting.
