yes, they are building the infrastructure of the country too - roads and houses to rent, the numbers are huge. Definitely taking advantage the cheap prices. Someone had to pay 540p for 2K at the close - not that much stock about. Cheers Cambium. Cr

Union Pacific Corp.'s (UNP) finance chief said the company will likely raise its shipping rates 5% to 6% this year over 2008 even as the railroad adjusts to reduced freight volume. Lower costs for fuel and increasing competition for available freight loads will hold down rate increases in 2009, said Rob Knight, chief financial officer for the Omaha, Neb.-based railroad

CR Bought back in yesterday on a medium term view having been watching them with interest over the last few weeks. Was a long term holder until last year (along with James Fisher which is still in the doldrums) and they did very well for me. I don't know Daniel Stewart's time scale, but think that £7 could be conservative if the shipping indices are really beginning to turn.

From todays Times.. Tiddler to watch Clarkson rose 36¾p to 498¾p after Daniel Stewart advised its clients to buy the shipbroker. This follows strong gains in shipping indices as demand from Chinese steelmakers starts to recover. The broker, which has a target price of 700p, said the stock offered exceptional value at current levels.

Comment From The TIMES Stampede by banks to beat bonus crackdown Pay rises and targets ditched as new chief stamps his mark on Unilever Business Editor: Trichet needs to follow Britain's lead (interest rates); Another day, another boss, another drive (Paul Polman, Unilever's new CEO); In defence of bonuses of contention - It is hard to see how paying forex dealers for good performance could be deemed a reward for failure or how it could encourage the sort of behaviour that led to the banking crisis Tempus: BG – Hold on; Unilever – Pass; Compass Group – There will be better times to buy A Tiddler to Watch: Clarkson

The Baltic Dry Index had it's biggest jump in over a decade last night - that's why. Shippers are going to fly imo, oil is bottoming (look at the CRUD chart) and shipping indicies are soaring. CR
