Reassuring interim management statement.Meeting their expectations.Hopefully those expectations have not been sighted too low!Anyway, company comments smack of confidence in a difficult environment.

My Finspreads chart is showing a spike up to 764.5 at 14:03. Prices now "indicative" 557.5p on Finspreads' rolling contract. Very curious.

The market doesn't seem too impressed with the figures, which look good to me.

122p eps pre exceptionals looks a very creditable performance, better than a lot of analysts were expecting I bet. Considering the yield is covered around 3 times and they have net cash these look cheap to me, right at the bottom of the shipping cycle too in all liklihood with the BDI rising. 68p divi over 14 months here out. yes, they are building the infrastructure of the country too - roads and houses to rent, the numbers are huge. Definitely taking advantage the cheap prices. Someone had to pay 540p for 2K at the close - not that much stock about. Cheers Cambium. Cr

Union Pacific Corp.'s (UNP) finance chief said the company will likely raise its shipping rates 5% to 6% this year over 2008 even as the railroad adjusts to reduced freight volume. Lower costs for fuel and increasing competition for available freight loads will hold down rate increases in 2009, said Rob Knight, chief financial officer for the Omaha, Neb.-based railroad

CR Bought back in yesterday on a medium term view having been watching them with interest over the last few weeks. Was a long term holder until last year (along with James Fisher which is still in the doldrums) and they did very well for me. I don't know Daniel Stewart's time scale, but think that £7 could be conservative if the shipping indices are really beginning to turn.

From todays Times.. Tiddler to watch Clarkson rose 36¾p to 498¾p after Daniel Stewart advised its clients to buy the shipbroker. This follows strong gains in shipping indices as demand from Chinese steelmakers starts to recover. The broker, which has a target price of 700p, said the stock offered exceptional value at current levels.
