I sold my last shares yesterday. I don't want to hold Anglo Gold shares, they don't fit my needs.

I've held for 17 years and done very well. I bought £10,000 and overall I've got back £58k plus dividends.

Sad to see them go.

Not sure it's third world in general, but some African countries are actively finishing off their decolonisation - Niger, Mali, Burkina Faso. I wouldn't want to have interests there.

Gold off 2.3% odd, but AEM down 6.7%, Barrick down 5.3%, CEY down 5.9%

What did I miss?

Isn't that the main consideration in lumping companies into different valuation categories i.e. why 'third world' jurisdiction miners are cheaper , albeit Resolute wasn't before today.

I had more but only have 350k left now, may keep them after the latest numbers from AngloGold. I don't want to fall in love with gold but unless we get a massive reversal in gold price they all look cheap right now. That is why I have picked on STLR amongst others, an explorer with two major prospects whose share price has not risen at all.

Some of gold miners I have invested in have been taken over like HGM and Shanta (got cash in both cases) and invested in PAF at 16p (only a small position). CEY has been my longest and best holding (started at 35p when there were issues with the Egyptian government, it fell in the 20s) I kept adding in 2013 and ever since traded in and out. My current holding is over 2m. So, I have been incredibly lucky. It all started with my SBT holding being taken over by GVC (now Etain) getting cash and shares, plus divi. This was another lucky break, I'm agnostic about the AngloGold takeover (I was waiting for the CEY Sp to go above £2 to reduce my holding). Have dipped my toes in the US stock FCX, Newmont, and Barrick over the last two years (this was only because I got my divi from CEY in USD). Good luck to all on the board- haven't posted much over the last few years due to derampers.

Thanks for the alert Shay, very good report. I lightened off a little to buy or add into other miners, explorers and a royalty company but I will now look at potentially keeping the balance. On the face it is definitely worth more work.

The deep state are cheating once again in the US elections.ballot boxes in swing states set on fire and now to voting machines caught swapping Trump votes for Biden.❗Voting machine in Kentucky malfunctioned preventing people from voting for Trump!

The machine automatically switched to Harris.

The state attorney general's office confirmed the malfunction, saying it happened after the machine was hit. The problem was fixed.

Maybe it would be better to sell CEY and buy physical (Gold & Silver), take delivery, bury it somewhere and sit on it. No worries about Strikes at mines, political upheaval , riding labour/fuel costs etc etc.

Pure exposure to gold price with none of the negatives of owning miners

ACT, I am not a natural gold bug though I have owned miners for some time. I am increasing my % in gold miners because of the US impending catastrophe {my concern) and as you say this is a term view. Nobody ever picks the date for the big event exactly right.
