14/12/2023 10:13 | Let's see still have a limit order at 1400. Stop at 1275 now. | smurfy2001
14/12/2023 09:46 | True, May hit the high of 13.80 again but can't see it going much higher before retracing again. | jan-mar
14/12/2023 09:32 | Sam, you don't have to type 'your a liar' sic, to call someone a liar. You can say 'i find it hard to believe etc etc' to indirectly say someone is lying. I haven't laughed off last losing x on any particular share, so a lie from you there. I take it because it's what happens sometimes. Unlike you, I don't claim to win every deal, least of all because my rare gambles in small caps are for a bit of excitement from the boring stuff of taking divis and hardly ever selling.Anyhow, you're getting the recs, so bathe in those. But you trying to trade fifty quid here and there - always winning, lol! - will just pass money between those who 'think' the same as you, with costs being taken out, hence the stats that you're likely to lose the lot eventually.Anyhow, I've said enough. It's sunny and getting hot and we're off to the beach. Oh and we get 'free' lobster tomorrow if we want. And some people only paid 500 quid for the 12 days, last minute, to sell the last of the cabins. | pierre oreilly
14/12/2023 09:29 | Yep looking to reduce and keep my main holding intact. Been a good trading share. Although my whole portfolio is flying today. | smurfy2001
14/12/2023 08:37 | The share price is just doing what it has done for the last 3 quarters, walked up until results day. Will be interesting to see what the company spins about the results | jan-mar
14/12/2023 00:16 | New highs over the pond thanks to interest rate freeze and possible cuts next year. | smurfy2001
13/12/2023 20:34 | Pierre please can you point out the part where I call you a liar I asked you once before when you said I called you a liar and I did not get a reply so can only assume that you could not find a part calling you a liar as it was then as it is this time I have not called you a liar. What I do find hard to believe is that some one who can laugh off losing 18k will not pay $14 dollars extra to have lobster on a cruise. Sam | sambuca
13/12/2023 11:33 | I'mm thinking 4 more days until results? Hopefully know soon. | smurfy2001
12/12/2023 19:40 | Pierre Lets use just plain numeracy. It is known that you "invested in SPAC now HELD and MXC which have both gone down about 90% since you said you bought them so lets say you put £1000 in each your £2000 is now £200 that is a loss of £1800 a stop loss at 20% of purchase price means you would now have £1600 in the bank to reinvest not a bunch of shares that will cost 10% of the sale price in dealing costs and will probably never reach your purchase price especially after they have consolidated. Remember it is twice as hard for a share price to go up than down. You mocked my 1st trade in HVO where I made £50 profit + 22000 free shares, How much profit have you made from HVO? Remember the saying there are 3 kinds of lies, lies, damned lies and statistics. I do not use all those constraints I use buy low, protect my capitol and lock in profits. Sam | sambuca
12/12/2023 18:24 | I remember the days of Durlacher, I used to do traded options with them | jan-mar
12/12/2023 14:42 | And just like that we're all millionaires. Can't think what could go wrong.Only stats, those inconvenient little things, say 80% of traders - almost all of whom use trailing stop losses - lose all their gambling money.Would you like to describe some physical constraints to the logical or theoretical or platonic design WH?Like difficulty identifying a 60 bagger which never blips down, liquidity, nms, derivative pricing v share price, margin, nuisance calls etc etc.The 20% of traders who make a profit understand all those physical constraints which separated the actual from the theoretical. Just sayin. | pierre oreilly
12/12/2023 14:34 | Nice juicy spike. Looks like some short covering going on as down to 12.1%. | smurfy2001
12/12/2023 12:54 | Hi white house I'm not famliar with this feature but it sounds like a v. usefool tool for a strategy we all try to follow, but usually manually. From my understanding of what you're saying the automation means you can take your eye of the ball and still not miss near a peak (which by definition has a lower share price either side.) Can you set/ control the range within which you can 'trail', ie you mentioned say, 5pc but presumably you can tweak it to be closer or further off? Above all, which platforms offer this device? I'm with Hargreaves Lansdown (Fund and Share - basic trading account) but they don't seem to have anything like this. Really interesting. | groveman1
12/12/2023 12:21 | The strategy is properly called...a trailing stop loss...As the price moves up your sell price trails up behind and ensures you do not sell early in a run up but get out within say 5pc of the peak. A good example would be a long time ago with Durlacher which some sold all and some half when it doubled from 1 pound to 2. However, it continued on up to a monster 60 pounds and I sold half at 5 off the top, 55, and then the rest at 45 as it sank back. In those days I did not press up on the way up, which I often do now... | the white house
12/12/2023 09:50 | Move your stop lose up | jan-mar
12/12/2023 08:53 | If it can't break and stay above this 13 level, there's every chance it will re-trace to 10.40 area or even 9. | kasamavic
11/12/2023 20:06 | Pierre The fact is the share price has not nearly doubled since I bought them 29th September @ £10.60 with the investment money plus small gain and a few more free SAGA shares after the SAGA price hit my stop £1.34 on the way down from just over £ 1.50. So you mock my small profit and never seem to mention the free shares which 40 free shares at the £13.25 you bought them at is £530 + the £90. Please explain to me how a stop loss gets triggered on the way up when as the name suggest you can only apply stop losses at a price lower than the price when it is set up. Sam | sambuca
11/12/2023 07:11 | We'll Trader, if typical trader returns are ninety quid on a pretty well doubled share price, I'd say you've earned the right to fart wherever you want when on holiday. That's of course assuming the stop loss didn't get triggered on the way up, which they always do, hence their correct descriptive name of 'stop gains' | pierre oreilly
10/12/2023 17:15 | I was there and passed some wind, it was the Chicken Tikka masala l blame. | tradejunkie2
10/12/2023 14:25 | Btw, here's what to expect on p&o. Just been to an amazing classical piano performance. Bloke next to me decided to hum along to the music. In the final 5 mins with the pianist reaching the pinnacle of her performance, some lady ( it has to be said, obese) decided to walk on front of everybody and plonk herself very close to the pianist blocking the view. Chatted to her husband a bit who had saved her seat. Oh well. | pierre oreilly
10/12/2023 14:19 | Here's a good top, I'm getting 4g in the middle of the straights of Gibraltar. Didn't expect that. Finally, it's sunny and hot enough to get the top off. | pierre oreilly
10/12/2023 11:21 | I would like to thank Pierre for reminding me to put my stop in which I have done so if it drops back £12.20 I will have around £90 profit and 40 more free shares to add to my collection, I would hate to think that I could make a good paper profit and see it slowly drain away or not put a stop loss in and see my hard earned lose 80 or 90% of its value as can happen with companies like MXC or HELD.
