Yup. Plenty of uncertainty and volatility abound. This is why I've been trying to keep plenty of powder dry. Looking forward to a bit of shopping :-)

And here comes that leadership challenge (and all those further opportunities....)

Keyhole, DLG or TSCO worth trying with car insurance.

If there is a leadership challenge to the PM, and I'm only mentioning
this re equities, there may be further opportunities in UK domestic companies.

"30 years ago AV. traded at 400p. It has traded lower" There was no AV. 30 years ago.

I bought 5000 CU in 1997 @ £6.87 for £33,900. Then they became CGU in June 98. Then they merged with Norwich Union and became Aviva.

They rose & fell and reached £5.70 in Mar 2015. My total div receipts since 1997 are £29,861.

I've added Pru, SLA and just 5 mins ago a few Aviva. Be nice if they went up but 7.25% here will do if they fall further.

We expect the European insurance sector to outperform the market in 2019. An increase in underlying customer demand with little change in supply should increase insurers’ pricing power, leading to growing earnings. Investors can be assured by a highly prudent solvency regime which keeps balance sheets strong and high-yielding dividends safe. Top Picks – Aviva, Beazley, Just Group, Legal and General . Outperforms – Ageas, Direct Line, Lancashire, Munich Re, Phoenix, RSA. UK life – limited Brexit risk creates buying opportunity. The subsector has underperformed due to the uncertainty caused by Brexit .....

Very good call by skinny here, has to be said.
Called this well in advance.

It's seriously undervalued at current prices. That's not to say it won't go lower, but Aviva is a cash machine at the moment, free cash flow gushing from its coffers and showering us with the glisten of a 7% yield. You'd be silly to sit on the sidelines and watch this bargain disappear.

So the PRU say ''We continue to believe that restructured equity release mortgages are a suitable asset to back annuities as part of an appropriately diversified portfolio.”

The UK property market is about to drop another 25% to 30% in the next 2 to 3 years IMHO

This won't do those that are exposed to the Equity Release mortgage risk “arising from the no negative equity guarantee”.

Hence my call for AV. for 2019 is 300p

This update from the PRA should also be mildly positive for the likes of LGEN and Aviva as well as a big boost for Just Group ...

Just thought it shouldn't go overlooked out of todays other noise.

Just when you thought it was safe to back in the water

The markets got shafted by a vicars daughter

Many folks like a bit of insurance

But with Carney Hammond and May

That doesn't look too good today

I agree. It's not going to be tomorrow's deal, so I suspect we'll see quite some volatility over the forthcoming weeks and months. Ultimately though, I expect there will be an agreed deal. There isn't any political will for a pure/no deal brexit. Until that deal arrives though there's going to be a lot of uncertainty, and I wonder whether we'll see 350 here in the meantime..Great opportunity if you're looking for long term candidates for your portfolio..
