18/1/2019 13:37 | I felt a bit the same, it's on a big discount to book. Unless the accountants and actuaries have totally messed up on the balance sheet, and yes valuing these companies is far from straight forward, then you always felt we must be close to a bottom. It still frustratingly makes no sense at 414. | stewart64
18/1/2019 13:20 | I’m in at 478p , so long. long ..long way to go before I see even Stevens. Funny thing is I never lost sleep even when they were sub 4 ...I feel safe and secure with this company regardless of share price ..... but slightly poorer | whatsup32
18/1/2019 13:17 | Should have stuck to my 3.63 buy target!, not been a bad week so can't complain. Stewart, nicely done on TW. | essentialinvestor
18/1/2019 12:58 | We were mugged when our voices were initially ignored | joe say
18/1/2019 12:26 | Still the dog of my portfolio. Some of my other bad bets like Taylor Wimpey have powered back into orbit in spectacular fashion. Legal and General has made a full recovery too. Domestics have had their best month for years. When the heck is this one going to take off. 2% today still short of what it should be doing. Most of the boats from the December crash have sailed. Maybe Aviva is the last chance to not miss the boat on this recovery. | stewart64
18/1/2019 12:05 | I would say it's more like walking out of the alley, we have already been mugged! | gaffer73
18/1/2019 11:45 | It's always darkest just before ... Etc. Well hopefully ). | essentialinvestor
18/1/2019 11:42 | This is like walking into a dark alley, it’s raining with drunks and hoodies everywhere. Plus we have the worst leaders when we need the absolute best. Gawd help us | whatsup32
18/1/2019 11:37 | I think that people get mixed up between 'best option' and 'least bad'. ;) Aviva holding and positions profitable. | alphorn
18/1/2019 11:30 | ‘Best option’ ..even more worrying:) | whatsup32
18/1/2019 11:21 | Yes, and it's the best option. | gaffer73
18/1/2019 11:19 | Do people understand what a no deal would mean for U.K.? . Worrying | whatsup32
18/1/2019 10:30 | ..given the uncertainties around Brexit (shop sales ,house price , commercial properties down, worker layoffs in auto ) that Sterling would go lower. wonder how inbound tourism is ,Brexit uncertainties would put people off booking flights to U.K. Ryanair profit warning this morning. I would stay clear of Sterling until Brexit issue sorted , which may be sometime way in the future..... | whatsup32
18/1/2019 09:55 | Sterling holding up well because both USD and EUR looking weak. Sterling has been undervalued for years imho. Hoping for a weekly close above 410p here :) | danielbird193
18/1/2019 09:52 | WJ news outlet reportedly said that USA and China were going to remove tariffs. I thought that was why DJ lifted late afternoon. This may be a follow through. Sterling holding up surprisingly well. Why???? | whatsup32
18/1/2019 09:40 | I haven't a clue (like everyone) what's going on today, but looking slightly over bought :-)) | skinny
18/1/2019 09:31 | Good rebound. Towards 450p me thinks | whatsup32
17/1/2019 12:39 | Yeah I meant +3% | gaffer73
16/1/2019 20:34 | Another 3% tomorrow would do too | gaffer73
16/1/2019 20:12 | Meanwhile, in the real world, AV. rises almost 3% on the day (vote of no confidence notwithstanding) and reaches a 12 week high... | danielbird193
16/1/2019 18:55 | Correct keyhole, the only time in my life I agreed with Tony Benn on anything. I was one of today's "youngsters at 23 years old and I can tell you, if you thought we were lied to in 2016, it was nothing compared to the original vote, as you've indicated. Once the 30 year rule allowed papers of the time to be revealed it just proved that even then, the Federal Europe was always the plan. I didn't want to be in it then and I don't now. I want to vote in or out my Politicians which ultimately we won't do under a future EU. I have no problem with a new vote because this time the true cost of being tied to this expensive, beauracratic, corrupt and failing enterprise will come out and I irmly believe the two faced Remain anti democrats will be shown for what they truly are. | warranty
16/1/2019 16:04 | Dr B. - If I recall correctly, Labour (under Harold Wilson) was originally vehemently against joining the Common Market, as it then was. Then, possibly Jacques Delors persuaded him that "once inside the CM, he could get all the socialism he wanted through the back door" That was enough for the Labour Party to make a U-turn on its policy, and only few hardliners like Tony Benn remained as permanent opponents. | keyhole
16/1/2019 12:49 | Corbyn won't win his vote and if he did he seems unaware of the problems it has to cause since any attempt to get a General Election shifts us much closer to the Dec 2020 deadline and imagine if Labour got into power and tried to renegotiate Brexit expecting their plan to be finalised by the end of 2020. | scrwal
16/1/2019 09:29 | May was given a poor hand, but still played it badly. As abive I can’t think of anyone better. We need a mild pragmatic brexiteer PM. Raab? Someone who wasn’t a leading figure in the brexit campaign as all the others are too toxic. Decent recovery here let’s hope it lasts. Saga have atrading statement this morning saying the market is still difficult. Most insurers have been saying that for years though. | dr biotech |
