Financials are never safe in a downturn, the only thing safe is US treasuries. This drop in aviva is nothing, I’ve watched square go from 102 dollars to 56 dollars in a bull market. Just dollar cost average , aviva is a great company.

Surprised it’s dropped this much. Are they not supposed to be cash rich

This was supposed to be a safe long term hold. Even at times of turbulence

owned this on and off over the years, 10k down again on my investment this time, again, never fails to dissapoint, is the ftse actually investable with this self harming brexit lunacy going on. Wish we could get a takeover bid for this poorly managed cxxp.

Dr, I think your right in terms of next week being expected,
would still see some turbulence in the run up to the vote-
which may be pulled last minute as defeat looms large.

Zho, I tried euroclear thanks. Couldn't find any data tho. I'm thinking it may not be published. If there's no regulatory requirement to publish < 0.5% short then why do it...

Engelbert,

The FCA page only shows positions over 0.5%. There is another site - Euroclear I think - which shows smaller positions as well. Try searching on "Euroclear stock on loan"

From my link :-

"The Short Interest Tracker is based on data sourced wholly from the FCA's daily short positions report"

So I guess so.

Skinny... your link shows zero funds short? Seems to concur with my interpretation of the fca data?

I just checked the fca short selling page. There's a downloadable excel of all notified short positions. Nothing listed for AV. But this is new to me so I'd be grateful if anyone could correct me if I'm wrong...

I don’t think there will be a big fallout when the deal gets rejected. Not saying it won’t drop, but I think think the odds on rejection must be 80-90%. It’s where there go from there that matters.

The TA skinny kindly provided made me think twice about buying.
Next Tuesday, Wednesday a time to consider a long position?.

Fall seems relentless (yield now 6.9%). I have bearish positions expiring for full value this month and open bullish positions with a breakeven close to 390p.

Yep. Keep thinking it won't go much lower and it does.Very worrying that the FTSE as a whole looks like it could go much lower and drag it down further - not to mention the panic for the financials when the deal is rejected.Unlikely that that is fully priced in

We're all holding on for dear life here. The underlying company is sound but the market ravages us daily. Most uncomfortable.
