Since when were Aviva answerable to the BoE or anyone else for that matter? The last CEO was at fault because it turned out that under pressure he had no balls! Let's hope the new CEO is different!

1robbob, I have wondered the same, possibly to do with the risk profile of the business written perhaps?

Why investing in your business stupid? If you are relying on income from one / few shares you are probably not diversified enough.

If the dividend is not re-instated then it is quite clear to me that they are taking advantage of the situation and using that money to acquire new buildings / companies at the expense of the us stupid investors.

It is highly likely that there will NOT be a definitive dividend announcement on the 6th August. It may well be that an undertaking has been given to the BoE not to review dividends until Q4, hence Aviva's references to a review in Q4. This is not just Aviva, RSA have said at the time of 'suspending' their dividend that 'the dividend policy may well not be reviewed in time for the Interim Dividend'. My money is on a statement with the Trading Statement towards the Year End ie when the outcome of 2020 is near certain - However the half year figures will give an good indication as to the full year outcome. Don't be disappointed, I think it will be very good news ...eventually!!

Hopefully those of you with better technical knowledge than I could enlighten me? RSA has a target Solvency Ratio range of 130% to 160% whereas Aviva's target range is 160% to 180%. I would appreciate you views as to these targets and their validity.

If an activist or predator wanted to take on av they would have a darn near free shot at goal just now imo.A record of low sp, no dividend paid, poor performing management, no competent strategy in place, Brexit concerns, low cost of borrowing, plenty of buyers for the parts on sale.

I totally agree with Spud. Also; paying all the dividends would still leave the Solvency Ratio well within the self imposed range of 160%-180%.

I hear you spud but Covid hysteria has hit everywhere. I’m sceptical their results will be that affected but it’s easy to bank a bit of resilience in and amongst a public so scared they think a bit of cloth can protect them against a microscopic virus

Certainly reducing the 21p that was postponed but annually maybe it’s 20 rather than 30. Not based on any analysis just reading the tea leaves and ongoing hysteria on covid nonsense plus new ceo / chairman being slightly cautious

Slightly reduced!!...looks like you are suggesting halving. On what basis do you reach that conclusion? Is that a whole years dividend or just a delayed 2019 final div?

My central scenario is they restart divi in q4 but reduce it slightly. Ie 10-15p rather than 21p

That’s my understanding too . No div = no bonus .

my understanding is that any staff bonuses are linked to getting dividends paid

Whats to stop the dividend money being used for staff bonus at end of year,
or for acquisitions?

I think that 20swf dividend makes the Zurich yield circa 5.8%
WHEN AB announces the maintainance of the Aviva dividend @ 30.9p...we can but dream where the share price would be!!!! and she would even be able to consider using the paper for aquisitions, perhaps?

After a 9-month hiatus, bond guru Bill Gross is back with his second investment outlook since retiring from money-management in March 2019 saying that "value stocks, versus growth stocks, should be an investor’s preference in the near-term."
