14/7/2020 10:25 | Doh! Only just realised this morning that Tulloch has gone. Thank heavens! Totally inadequate shareholder communication at best and a lack of corporate direction. Bought back in at 283.4. | ![]() xamf

13/7/2020 12:54 | US 1Q results are expected to be pretty poor on average. but hopefully the market will be looking forward and an improved recovery. However, some sectors will be more in favour than others, and some huge adjustments made some of the others previous business models. AV. should ride-out any adverse reaction to results in US, but I would add on any fall...we are in a relatively safe sector and with new CEO there may be some more positive news in August. | ![]() cyberian

13/7/2020 11:43 | I think there's immense negativity factored into the markets and prospects, certain sectors never been busier. Movement and use of public services like hospitality sector I think due big upturn based on my own opinion and participation... Sunshine does help beer gardens and pubs a great deal however at present. All pubs I went in and sat out of yesterday had strict and well adhered to policies and was well frequented. With abit of awareness but unless you go up and snog someone you don't know then with low numbers of virus carriers I think we have this beaten...2020 can be written off as a strange year move in with better cleanliness procedures and 2021 can be more normal. | ![]() moontheloon

13/7/2020 10:43 | For the first time in ages, it feels genuinely that the cogs of life are starting again albeit in a safer, more social dfistanced way. Friend flies in from Italy, German visitor due as well, Center Parcs for example reopening. Anyone else feel same? | ![]() adelwire2
11/7/2020 17:26 | Interesting article whatsup32. I am not sure how the technology of Machine Cover will help to price pandemic cover although I can see how it may quantify claims and trigger levels. And being backed by Hiscox is not exactly a recommendation at present :). As an old school underwriter I have some difficulty with insurers expanding their risk appetite for pandemics, but I can see the business attraction if only a sound basis can be found for pricing. However I would assume prices will be high (prohibitively so in some cases) and carry material limits on liability. If not I would be asking my group actuary hard questions. Obviously it becomes easier if reinsurers increase their capacity. The one area which may be key to developing an effective market for pandemic cover could be catastrophe bonds. This is not my area of expertise but I know that pandemic bonds have been fairly small scale in the past. But if that market takes off it would let insurers (and reinsurers) hedge their risk, which greatly simplifies pricing. Perhaps cjac39 has some knowledge of these bonds? | ![]() wba1

10/7/2020 09:30 | I'd expect her to come up with some sort of plan next month. She has already espoused the "not a day to lose" guff, so in my mind she will have at least the bare bones of a strategy by then. Aviva is a complex beast - any simplification plan would be welcome. | ![]() dr biotech
09/7/2020 19:40 | Who knows She has inside knowledge already so you would think needs less time However public companies are renowned for following the same playbook: 100 days to come up with plan; 2 years of chopping or buying ; 2 years of hoping its worked or otherwise milking the package and getting binned Public companies are so poorly run | ![]() cjac39
09/7/2020 19:29 | Are we expecting anything significant from AB with the Interim results at the begining of August? Or it it more likely some time during Q4 together with the much awaited Dividend announcement? | ![]() 1robbob |
