If buywell is right AV. IMO says hello to 150p

buywell should charge for this you know.

People who refer to themselves in the third person should probably be paying others for the sheer tedium of reading what they have to say.

No offence intended, but I find you useful mainly as a counter-indicator.

Due to SARS-COV-2
Banks are now experiencing more bad debts and write downs will be likely for the next 2 years at least IMO

IMO other financials will experience the same issue

I bet every one of AV board members get voted back in at least 95% of the vote. Folks complain but do very little ?

Aviva should not be mentioned in the same breath as PRU.

PRU is Premier League, Aviva not so much - that's being kind.

There seems to be a lack of knowledge on this board as regards to the difference in strategy between Aviva and Prudential.

Prudential have decided that their future as a global company did not encompass the UK so they have separated out those interests through M&G in October 2019 giving their shareholders a choice.

Prudential is now concentrated on Asia with a fast growing middle class plus an initial entry into hugely populated Afica. They also own Jackson a large annuity provider/life insurer in the States which could be sold or expanded.

If you want a flavour of what the company is trying to achieve read what Mlke Wells has to say about their reaction to Covid-19 on the Pru website.

To their credit they are competing on the world stage with huge global companies for example Ping.an

Aviva and L&G are going to be in a lower league.

"Now, with the share price having been hit hard by Covid-19, there could be an opportunity for patient investors. On a ludicrously low P/E of four, the shares are dirt cheap."

Bounced off/support at 229/230 twice in last 2 weeks.
Am hoping to top up again at about that level...
DOW futures 200+ down. Might put a drag on FTSE at 2:30 opening

Watch & wait for me

You're right. M&G merged with Pru's investment arm in 2017 before it was later spun off. Unfortunately I've always backed the Aviva horse vs Prudential and know little about the latter, except their performance has been way better.

Thanks cjac39 / dr_biotech, makes sense why I saw Pru's name attached to M&G when I was looking them up. Hadn't discovered they were part of Pru, and interesting view that they will most likely get snapped up before long. They could be an interesting one to have a holding in for post COVID...

As for Aviva replacing MT and therefore having to admit they were wrong, having worked for Aviva head office for circa 9 years, one thing i learned from senior management there is that they never admit they were wrong. I'd speculate that they may EVEN be driven to hold onto MT just to not have to admit they were mistaken in their selection. neo.

i do think m&g is interesting. its a junior version of avivas uk life and asset mgmt biz and i would be surprised if it exists as an independent company for too long. its dominated by the value of annuity book + wp fund which i reckon less debt is about the m cap so u get a decent sized asset mgr thrown in for free. once dust settles on reassure acqn it wouldnt surprise me if phnx has a tilt at m and g if they can find a home for the asset manager.

Just to be clear WhatsUp,I’m not saying your making things up or ramping and the Times is more credible than other sources. it’s just for the board to replace MT they’d have to admit their error and I’ve yet to see any signs of them doing that. As WBA says they seem to have fallen inline with MTs ideas, rather than pushed for anything more radical.

M&G were split from prudential in 2017. It’s perhaps what AV need to do with their investment arm.

cjac39 - I was reading your previous post that in addition to Aviva, you also like M&G so I went to check them out. Seems like they founded in 2017 and were only trading late last year. Can you tell me anything about them? Do you see a lot of upside / growth as a longer-term co. to invest in? I notice they are c50% down to their starting point (due to current market of course).
Thanks,
neophytos.
