Can I just add one thing, I think we are all on here as we see this as a great share to be invested in long term. My view is that over the next couple of months I believe I can get them cheaper. But that's just my view and no one knows for sure, me included!

I like American market which more dynamic than UK ie going up or down super fast. UK market takes ages to move up or down.

smurfy....same here. Came back to market with some spare cash 12th March
About 50% cash now and rest in AV, BT, LGEN & HSBC
Sold my RDSB & IMB for 25% & 27% return respectivly. Will reinvest RDSB if sub £10
Also traded some LGEN & GLEN for a quick 26%
Back in LGEN @ 194 average & may buy GLEN if goes sub 130

Good luck all......

Given the world wide stimulus currently in progress I'd personally rather rather be in than out. I'm 50% invested with a new portfolio but can add to positions if the market makes new lows.

None of us know the future, macro the main headwind. The flip side being unprecedented CB liquidity.
Very rudimentary take admittedly.

Nope I'm sat on 90% cash waiting to invest. I have never had a position here, but have identified it as one I want. But I believe the market is going low & am happy to wait for a better entry point.

Are you so upset that with your meaningless charts that you were so busy looking at history rather than thinking of the future !

The market did retest the lows in 2008. Maybe Educate yourself rather than getting yourself upset.

Your premise is that this is a bear market rally... if you look at the low and where we are now, doesnt that constitute a bull market?

Just discussion, he maybe right as the banks and governments are just flooding the whole economies round the world with so much money, nothing like that has ever been done on this scale so it might just stave off a retest of the recent lows.

So how do you back up your assertion that there won't be a retest of the lows? In EVERY real market crash in history, the market low has been retested. Why is it different this time? There's a lot of denial going on, which, I might add, is all part of what makes up a bear market rally!

It is perfectly possible that Aviva has new lows, I stand by my assertion that the market will not. As much as I want it to. Which is exactly why it won't happen, because the March plummet was so sudden and violent that it convinced everyone that the financial markets were ruined forever. By the time people realised that they weren't, it had already significantly recovered. The result was that a lot of people quickly moved cash into their accounts to take advantage of supra normal returns and are now waiting for the sudden plummet to come back, but sudden plummets do not happen when they are expected or wanted, and they are only ever visible in hindsight. Bottom chasing is a frustrating game. More tea vicar!

You could well be right, or wrong. However, history can enlighten our insights but the likelihood that things are different this time are always a possibility. I hope we all make good decisions and prosper.

Rivalry is due to shorts vs longs. Shorters want it lower longs higher. Simples.

andyj you simply cannot state that we will not see the lows of March. You haven't got a clue where this market is going, not a clue.

The approach of drip feeding is a fine approach, but please do not state as fact that we will not see new lows. You have not a clue what that straw headed moron in America will do next to send very fragile markets tumbling.

Aviva in isolation could test new lows even if the rest of the market holds steady, that is the nature of this massively disappointing / nonperforming beast.

I have never really understood the rivalry between investors. You will not see a return to the market lows of March. That does not mean there will not be volatility, but I suggest you drip that cash into the market as I am doing or you will regret it and be left with a slowly depreciating pile of money. And a lot of regret.
