BH like everyone else has an opinion and no doubt agenda... yes deservedly so but they can talk the market down to a level they want so they win!!

The rich get richer and the rest of us just piggyback on it where we can.

Something telling after the resent AGM update from Berkshire Hathaway.
They did not announce any big investments, and thats a bad sign.
The thinking in the market is - we are going much lower, below 23 MAR levels.
No reason for markets to be up at these levels. Feedback from BH managers is dire. The effect on businesses is going to be dire.

Agreed picked up some at 229 after selling at 255 the other day. Do think there must be value in the 220s but probably see this going down until the next announcement. Good luck all

The problem we all have currently besides Covid-19 is worsening China USA relations.

This is IMO an ongoing problem and buywell can't see it going away in the present deterioration of the Global Economy.

Politicians everywhere are worried now and looking to score brownie points to shore up their positions as things go from bad to worse.

States in the USA are coming out of lockdown some of them before they should

Airlines and people still travelling from state to state , so it looks like a recipe for disaster is brewing and the first second wave could well be America's fate .

The state governors will get blamed , but the damage will be done and the next market downleg could well make the first one look just like a practice run from where the overbought position now exists due to many thinking it would be a V recovery.

buywell has said 15000 DOW is coming and still does

If buywell is right AV. IMO says hello to 150p

buywell should charge for this you know.

IMO dyor

Aviva was mainly a dividend stock for private investors and that income would have helped counter the poor share price due to the virus outbreak and until an announcement that the dividend payments are resumed those who are already heavily invested will try to sell at every given opportunity and the share price will carry on falling.
-
Off course new investors won't care less about dividends as they will just make gains as the market stabalise and sell at a tidy profit, but those already invested feel they are owed the dividend payment as announced.

jubberjim, He has left every where where he has been under a cloud, whilst I agree he couldn't be worse than Tulloch I am not convinced the insti's would like him as CEO

I have an idea
Tulloch is completely adrift in the mire at the moment
as are we countless investors
If the BOD have any gumption and are looking to appoint a new chief
I would like to suggest Tijane Niam
I would think he is available and maybe just maybe he could unlock the value in this underperforming share
The withdrawal of the dividend after it being declared enticed a lot of investors to add to their holdings and the resultant capitulation has done the small investors who rely on the dividend a grave disservice
No two ways about it Tulloch should go and the BOD should consider their positions

Warren Buffett was always a fan of insurers in his heyday. At this price I wonder he is not casting his eye over Aviva.

To misquote Buffett: always safer to buy a company that can be and is being run by an idiot, sooner or later an idiot will NOT be running the company! :))

But do you really thing the general market is going to rise from here? Because aviva will fall with the general market even though this has underperformed. If you think is many do that the FTSE will test 5000 again then Aviva has a minimum 10% fall to come. Which ties in nicely with a retest at 200p.

I have a rather large holding here at £3.97 so not winding people up, sadly in cases like this where the share price keeps falling there is usually something triggering it that we private investors don't see or get told about until it's too late and all the insti's that want to exit have done so, can see this going down until an update, if good should halt the slide for now, if bad we will crash, no doubts about that.

Less than 1% of my sipp now, thank the lord. My scariest moment was a margin call back when Moss cut the divi. Best thing IG did was not close me out. They rang and asked for a 5 figure sum instead.Actually saved me a fortune in the long run.

When will I learn my lesson to stay away from Aviva.

The most pointless and frustrating share I have owned. Pure value erosion.

Have followed, and added at 228.8p, as can see that changes in the Board will only be positive, and likely to happen sooner than later. The Chairman needs to stamp his authority PDQ as the Institutions must be on the case for some radical changes, and a more positive direction. The possible break-up comment in the Sunday Times yesterday is surely clear evidence that there is a lot of value within the Group, and it needs to be more dynamic. The suspended dividend monies are an added level of financial resources available for a more re-invigorated board....interesting to see what develops over coming weeks.
