From GE&CR January Newsletter

Avanti announced two more contracts during January worth over £0.5 million for the sale of capacity on its newly launched satellite Hylas 1. These contracts with the Digital Rural Testbed andNXY, (Funded by the European Space Agency), that the relentless increase in demand for bandwidth around the World creates new urgent reasons to integrate satellite capacity into terrestrial networks, especially where video delivery is involved and these contracts provide excellent support for this development.
In February the company's shares slumped on the back of a bear raid supported by the dissemination of factually inaccurate material. The management responded by pointing this out and then buying more than £450,000 worth of shares in the company. Our view remains unchanged by this campaign which is not based on fact. As such we maintain our base case valuation of 1,079p per share and believe that the impediments to reaching our upside case of 2,194p are falling away. As visibility on sales rates, prices and further satellite launches develops, we anticipate being able to raise our valuation further and argue that the current share price represents an excellent buying opportunity. We reiterate our stance of Strong Buy

Berny,

If one accepts that the RNS of the 14th of February was open true and honest then looking forward and taking a judgement on whether the idea of satellite internet connections for remote locations around this country Europe and beyond will have a demand and accept the companies and analysts figures as to whether they can make a profit one has the answer.

I would rather it hadn't been shorted Berny but as it has for some weeks apparently by a hedge fund and recently joined by EK then I though why not add at it has dropped so much.

As for EK's behaviour having more influence than the directors buys it would seem for the time being that is case. Don't forget because his reputation has been "polished" ironically by t1ps to name one then he does have quite a following so surely understandable in the short term (excuse the pun) that it would have a negative affect.

I think all "smells alright" but you may prove to be right Berny.

That's quite funny. Everyone seems to be slating EK because of a different view, but at the same time congratulating themselves that they have managed to buy more so cheaply. I doubt he has shorted as much as the directors have been buying, and your comments seem to indicate that EK's behaviour has more influence over the price than the directors purchasing. Something does not smell right.

By not being able to answer why TW's is wrong you continue to show you don't know what you are talking about. Try and do some research so your views will be based on thought out information instead of complete tosh.

Furthermore I have not seen anywhere that directors have been gloating but if they are you have only the shorters to blame or thank for giving them the opportunity.

Happily it has given me chance to add cheaper than I thought I could back in December, so thanks, gloating no but smiling :-)))

well yorgi, I'm in NC so will have to sneak a look on the internet!

It's almost reassuring to see AVN settle a little around 500p, I am moving funds from some other stocks to top up, just need a few more days.

I agree Husbod.......but shooting the lot might be going a tad far :-) Might I said :-)

it's a shame these directors were not buying at 700p when they seemed quite happy to let TB/TW et al ramp the stock to the unwashed

then they gloat about having the cash to pony up at 500p, how about looking after your investors in the first place by not allowing unsubstantiated ramping ?

it's a two way street

Just find him and his ilk irritating, mainly, I suppose, as I have this rather naive view that the stockmarket should first and foremost be a place where you can make money by supporting good British Companies rather than a straightforward gambling den.

Taken to extremes good British Companies can actually be damaged by these "professional" shorters and personally I would round them all up with Col Gaddafi and shoot the lot. But that's just my opinion and probably the only thing that the EU and I have in common.

Think SC is probably getting a little nervous over these directors buys. Those in the know versus those who don't know.

I'm sure they will Chrissey, I would expect it to be a great game, I'm looking forward to it :-)

I agree with you partially John, but I do feel the place for SC to put his case is through t1ps. They promote him and try to get more subscribers by "selling EK' as being one of their tipsters, short specialist. So they should allow him to publish it there alongside TW's argument pulling it apart as being flawed and inaccurate.

Simon Cawkell,
Congratulations on alienating most posters on this thread.
I believe that everyone should be able to post their own points of view but why will you not respond to TW and the other posters who have politely pointed out the errors in your original ramblings.
Is it too much to ask you to respond and then everyone will know both sides of the story. If you cannot justify your comments please say so and let us all then move on accordingly.

I think TW just putting his name to a point of view is good enough to make the case that that point of view is wrong. LOL

damn, SC won't be collecting on the soccer, this is a nailed on 3:1 win for Chelsea, Torres to score twice, including the first goal.

I got 50 quid on at 25/1 on this bet, if I collect, i will put the proceeds into AVN, that is what I would call averaging down.

I thought Clintons cigar tricks were more interesting anyway!

Omnitrix,

Are you having trouble in pointing out where TW is wrong to make AVN a buy ?
