FULL YEAR GUIDANCE CONFIRMED

Trading Update

Rolls-Royce reconfirms its financial guidance for 2018 profit and free cash flow. Specifically, we expect both group and core profit and cash flow for 2018 to be in the upper half of our full year guidance range, as shown below:

RR have recently regraded all the managers and 20% of them are getting pay rise and improved benefits, what happens to the rest I don't know, still employed I suppose,

more turbine corrosion problems reported.
this time the Trent 700.
one of the disadvantages of a large installed base.

Disappointing, these problems in hostile environments have been solved in the past.
Turbine blade cooling/corrosion is complex, hope they have not thrown the 'baby out with the bathwater' and retired those with the know how and experience too early.

Bright young things have invariably not been round the block often enough to avoid such problems.

The top lot have just re organised the rationalisation, turkeys and Christmas.

Engineers do not make good managers as a general rule and RR have too many in management roles.

“We would extrapolate that the financial impact on Rolls will be compensation payments to Airbus and the airlines, and a build-up of inventory into the year-end,” wrote Robert Stallard, analyst at Vertical Research Partners.

“The P&L [profit and loss] impact could ironically be positive, as the Trent 7000 OE [original equipment] deliveries will be loss making, with the returns coming from the after-market.”

A have a very large long-term holding in RR. All these issues are really noise. Great if you can take opportunity to add. If the share drops much lower I will add at the levels I bought previously.

a rare success today.
I bought 2 lots, the first at 792, the second at 753.
very proud of the second one.
(helps ease the pain of holding WPP)

I thought that a delay in delivery was not a serious setback in a long term business.
RR. are becoming volatile.
Things looked rosy a few months ago, around £11 after an upbeat statement from CEO.
