The share price is now being held at the Daily SMA 50.

There are a few resistance levels at the current share price position.

See the above post ref 1635. It's currently trying to break back above that last swing low.

Higher volume than yesterday with buyers coming in at the low (Daily SMA100) with day traders profit taking curtailing the rise.

1600 is current support level.

Of some concern is the close below the last swing low in February which closed at approx 1635.

Leave my Black Swans out of it.

"the previous unquestionable" was a momentary aberration brought on by irrational under exuberance.

A chart of housing starts adjusted for population growth in the USA shows that despite 2 years of growth the US is way behind trend. Suggests that there is a whole load more growth to come.

"Global stock markets have come under pressure amid fears that shares - boosted by the election of Donald Trump - may be at their most overvalued in 17 years.London's FTSE 100 Index was more than 60 points lower in early trading, adding to losses in the previous session.Asian stocks had fallen overnight with Japan's Nikkei down 2% and Hong Kong's Hang Seng more than 1% lower. It followed a drop of more than 1% for New York's S&P 500, Wall Street's biggest sell-off since before Mr Trump's election in November. The losses were prompted by investors dumping risky assets and shifting over to safe havens such as gold and bonds - parcels of government debt.It follows a poll by Bank of America Merrill Lynch that found 34% of investors believed shares were the most overvalued of all asset types. That was the highest proportion in 17 years, with US stocks identified as the most expensive."

Afternoon bracke
I hope 100 day SMA are a thing of the past,as the proximity of the 50 day and 76% fib where too much for me to resist.
Small long at 1650.
As always living in hope

If you look at a Daily chart with SMA 50 you will see that it has supported the share price a few times this year.

Currently the SMA 50 is at 1656 so support is likely close to that level. If; heaven forfend; it should decide to visit the SMA 100 it is at 1572. It last did so in November 2016. No doubt if it did AHT and others would be buying like there was no tomorrow.

I would imagine any spare cash will find its way into cap-ex to build a wall and of course a big blow out at the AGM.

Not really sure about the cancellation of treasury shares.
They were purchased in the market a lot cheaper than they are quoted today, so if they were sold back to the market does that add to profit or share premium account?

Has the number of shares used in EPS / Dividends changed? The Total voting rights number was already 499 million so it looks like they were being ignored anyway.
So no gain on previous position relative to the market.

AHT could have generated a huge amount of cash selling them back to the market - yes EPS may have gone down - but what if they used the cash to pay an extra 30p /share dividend for 5 years and had the yield up to 4%, what of the share price then?

The cancellation of Treasury Shares have got to be a positive.

I wonder what they do with the unused £152 million set aside for buyback.
