21/3/2017 13:21 | Not really sure about the cancellation of treasury shares. They were purchased in the market a lot cheaper than they are quoted today, so if they were sold back to the market does that add to profit or share premium account? Has the number of shares used in EPS / Dividends changed? The Total voting rights number was already 499 million so it looks like they were being ignored anyway. So no gain on previous position relative to the market. AHT could have generated a huge amount of cash selling them back to the market - yes EPS may have gone down - but what if they used the cash to pay an extra 30p /share dividend for 5 years and had the yield up to 4%, what of the share price then? .................... | fenners66
21/3/2017 12:59 | It went on the Christmas Party....you wern't invited? | bracke
21/3/2017 12:27 | The cancellation of Treasury Shares have got to be a positive. I wonder what they do with the unused £152 million set aside for buyback. | dcarn
20/3/2017 18:14 | so thats 3 of us so far. I'll get on pushing it later in the week. Clarky - you must be up for it. | rescuer
20/3/2017 07:59 | Profit before tax this year of £800m?£1 | mjcferguson
19/3/2017 18:14 | Good day bracke, was only joshing, this is AHT after all :) | discodave4
19/3/2017 16:12 | Good day Disco Maybe a retrace/pullback and then another run at 1700. As things stand I can't see any reason for a large drop other than if the overall market takes fright. I posted a few days ago that if it received a shove down 1640 was probable. If it drops below 1620 that would be very concerning. | bracke
19/3/2017 16:00 | Thanks bracke..........so 1700 it is then! :)DD | discodave4
19/3/2017 11:55 | Friday's selling appears to have decided that 1700 will have to wait and a lower high is probable. The volume on Friday suggests that it was more than a simple retrace. | bracke
17/3/2017 10:37 | Hi 2flatpack Short? No fear, I am just not that sort of investor! :-) Edit: I should add I have nothing against those that do, it makes for a more interesting and efficient market! . | ianwwwhite
17/3/2017 09:12 | What SHORT???? | 2flatpack
17/3/2017 09:07 | DD Sorry! We may have to switch to plan B.. . | ianwwwhite
17/3/2017 07:05 | Would be nice if AHT could end the week above 1700, making this support, rather than resistance. All we need is an Ashtead Friday, is that too much to ask? . | ianwwwhite
17/3/2017 00:25 | Aye, I'd be interested Glenn. | 1leigh
16/3/2017 12:42 | Maybe not. | bracke
16/3/2017 11:00 | It got the shove. Now let's see it hold. | bracke
15/3/2017 20:31 | You beat me to it Ian.Dollar taking a hit though, but as you say URI & Dow up.........go figure!.DD | discodave4
15/3/2017 20:00 | Rate rise and forward statement much as leaked/expected, but the U.S. market seem to like it, DJI +134, and URI +3.9% currently, augurs well for tomorrow. | ianwwwhite
15/3/2017 14:39 | Good day ian I suspect that a rate increase is already discounted. The market will be looking for information about additional increases. There is also Mr Trump's promise of tax cuts but these appear to have been delayed until August. In the meantime we have an election in Holland with others to come in France and Germany. So we wait. | bracke
15/3/2017 13:25 | Good afternoon bracke, Thanks for your comments, it seems that AHT is 'havering' at present, whether pending the U.S. Rate decision or otherwise who knows. I understand that the FOMC announcement is at 2pm, (6pm our time by my calculation), but I think the context/accompanying comments may be equally inportant in setting direction. Might turn out to be 'much ado about nothing', I guess Janet will not wish to make waves at this stage in Trumps tenure... | ianwwwhite
15/3/2017 11:22 | I've been perusing the chart. The share price has been unable to break free from 1700. It needs a shove one way or the other. If it is shoved up then 1780, if it is shoved down then 1640. | bracke
14/3/2017 18:49 | Hi fenners So what about Rescuers suggestion of another AHT investors get together? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sorry to say that due to personal commitments, I can not unfortunately attend. If you do get together, I look forward to hearing all about it. Some intriguing tales came back from the last gathering! :-) | ianwwwhite
14/3/2017 12:07 | Good afternoon Bracke | fenners66
14/3/2017 11:32 | Good day fenners And it's pushed the share price over 1700. | bracke |
