03/5/2017 17:04 | And another chunk of selling volume to-day. The Fed policy statement and interest rate decision at 18.00 hrs may affect the situation. | bracke
03/5/2017 16:59 | No I'm not invested in AHT. I have a long history with the SP! I'm better at analysing it than investing or trading it. Yes I know that reads as odd but it's a long story. There does not have to be direct negative or positive news to move a share price Less direct events can influence as can simple profit taking. Buying and selling shares whether you use fundamentals or charts isn't a nice easy decision,if it was everybody would be doing it. It takes years of observing and learning....and making mistakes. The fall in the AHT share price does not appear to be due to a company problem more down to other events resulting in profit taking. | bracke
03/5/2017 16:34 | fine thanks for responding but presumably you are invested- so when do you decide to sell- iam trying to fathomhow the share price behaves when there doenst seem to be any negative newa about the company un;ess i have missed something- i do appreciate your insight! | ali47fish
03/5/2017 16:19 | Good day ali In a nutshell because there are more sells than buys. Whether to sell or hold is your decision. I simply provide my chart based analysis. My post 53684 states the situation as I see it. | bracke
03/5/2017 15:35 | bracke in a nutchell why is the share price falling- is it time to take profit or to ride the dip- only one boker said sell | ali47fish
03/5/2017 11:05 | Thanks for the shorting information Disco. Some serious selling again to-day. Is it major shareholders with 5% or less selling out? The brakes need to go on and buyers come in to regain 1580. If not the share price is likely to retest the previous low at 1525. A couple of weeks ago I mentioned the Daily SMA 200 and that the share price had not 'paid a visit' to that level since June 2016. Considering how far above that level the share price has been perhaps another visit is due. If a test of 1525 does fail to hold the Daily SMA 200 is at 1460. | bracke
03/5/2017 10:44 | Sterling has got stronger hence the AHT share price is down. | hjs

02/5/2017 21:20 | According to shorttracker 1.69% shorted, most recent (27th April) GLG Partners increased their short by 0.14% to 0.55%.So not a significant amount shorted IMO, highest the last four years or so was over 6% in early 2016.DD | discodave4
02/5/2017 17:48 | I doubt that you need me to post that there is definite selling pressure. Friday's 2.5 million volume barely kept the share price above the previous day's close. To-day the same level of volume and the share price suggests that it was all selling. For whatever reason the 'shine' appears to have gone from the share price I presume most of it is due to profit taking I don't know what the level of shorting is. The question now is at what level will buyers emerge and how long will they hold. I will be particularly observing the price action if it drops to 1580. | bracke
27/4/2017 14:54 | ali47fishPlease can you post up the link, thanks.brackeAs per usual - thanks!DD | discodave4
27/4/2017 11:28 | High volume yesterday is interesting. An attempt to break above resistance at 1660 and fill the gap. It managed to just about close above 1660 but lack of positive market reaction to Mr Trumps tax plans has resulted in sellers return to-day. If yesterday proves to be another lower high....you know the rest. | bracke
27/4/2017 10:35 | why do you thing questor suggests we should sell? anyone please? | ali47fish
25/4/2017 18:14 | The share price held above the Daily SMA 100 but not yet reached the Daily SMA 50. The average daily volume is 1.86 million. Yesterday and to-day volumes were below average.Buyers were in control. Provided the DOW doesn't drop off later the share price may go for the gap fill tomorrow at 1680 assuming 1660 does not offer too much resistance. | bracke
25/4/2017 15:37 | Good day fenners I agree with your comments about restructuring and exceptionals. It's as if the cost of them does not affect the bottom line, which of course it does. A myriad of errors, mistakes and similar can be hidden away. Perhaps they should also separate exceptional profits! | bracke
25/4/2017 15:02 | US new home sales 621,000 up 5.8% | fenners66
25/4/2017 14:59 | Thanks Bracke Shares of Caterpillar Inc. CAT, +6.71% rose 6% in premarket trade Tuesday after the company beat first-quarter earnings expectations and issued an upbeat outlook. It reported net income of $192 million, or 32 cents per share, down from $271 million, or 46 cents per share, in the year-earlier period. Excluding restructuring costs, it reported earnings per share of $1.28. The FactSet consensus was for earnings per share of 63 cents. Revenue was $9.82 billion, up from $9.46 billion in the year-earlier period and above the FactSet consensus of $9.26 billion. Caterpillar raised its 2017 revenue outlook to $38 billion to $41 billion, above the FactSet consensus of $37.9 billion. It expects profit per share of $2.10 at the midpoint of sales or $3.75 excluding restructuring costs, compared to the FactSet consensus of $3.25. It expects higher restructuring costs for the year, amounting to $1.25 billion. "excluding restructuring costs" of $1.25 billion Funny just had the discussion (I was ranting) about US companies and there addiction to exceptional costs this morning! Rules are rules do not dump costs into restructuring and exceptionals ; again ! Ok well not next year then. If there are ANY exceptionals next year , or the year after (or as well) or in the year after that (or as well) they HAVE to be exceptional right! Look ok so we screwed up the business for years and we had to make a few changes, we found a bunch of biscuits in the secretaries cupboard that have gone soft so we will have to write them off ---- $1.25bn But luckily the cost of everything we were getting wrong last few years can be dealt with as an exceptional and we really have got a super business -honest. Anyway the market never looks any further than skin deep! | fenners66
25/4/2017 11:18 | The share price has just about broken above the Daily SMA 100 which now needs to act as support. Then move on to the Daily SMA 50. There is a gap at 1680 to fill. EDIT I should also mention the opening gap from the 21st to the 24th which is from 1584. | bracke
24/4/2017 22:15 | Thanks bracke. | discodave4
24/4/2017 17:00 | Volume moderate and the share price opened and closed at the top end of the range. Buyers in control to-day. | bracke |
