The USA with just 4.5% of the worlds population and producing only 2% of daily world oil production, consumes 25% of the worlds daily oil production !

THINK ! - about the future implications of this, for the USA, the rest of the world and the future demand/supply situation for crude oil ?

In March 1997 the world consumed an average 63m barrels of oil per day. However at the same time the rate of discovery of new oil reserves averaged only 19m barrels per day.

.In July 2006 the world consumed an average 85m barrels of oil per day. However at the same time the rate of discovery of new oil reserves averaged only 15m barrels per day.

The gap between consumption and discovery will continue to grow while at the same time the Supermajors struggle to increase production from their depleting oil fields.
