Surprised BP down 2. Brent $89 The only thing I can think of is profit taking. Results should be good. I can see all Sundrie crying out for a windfall tax. At the moment, BP is a cash machine. If you're a long-term holder, what's not to like.

Place your bets for the share price tomorrow. I am plumping for 510 to be reached as lots of issues re Israel / Iran / Syria this last 24 hrs. The $ has gained on the news and with OPEC behaving re quota adherence then BP / Shell are in a bit of a sweet spot, as to how long time will tell. BP imo is the better play with more upside..... as long as Shell don't make 'upping sticks' noises.

Good read ... thanks Meb123

"Brokers AJ Bell suggest five companies with a combined valued of £230 billion that could be next to quit London, since they have large US arms. They are Shell, Pearson, National Grid, Diploma and Bunzl."

I always thought Shell would be 'upping sticks' to the US (primary listing) in the next few years. Might get some resistance if BP was to tread the same path..... worth it though imo.

If it's manipulation I am not sure who are the perpetrators. So yesterday it went down a fair bit due to oil tanking a bit . However it has since recovered . However BO doesn't recover by the same amount . Defies logic all things being equal. I can only put it down to lack of faith in the shares . Ie the market doesn't believe the recent gains can hold and is keeping an eye on the potential for oil to fall significantly. All frustrating I'm afraid.

Perhaps they are manipulating the price, so we get more bang for your buck on the bye backs.

Not helped by reducing capital gains and dividend allowances. They should be incentivising people to invest rather than reducing incentives

There won't be any catch up unless it moves its listing to the US . I read somewhere that over 5 years the Ftse100 has only gone up by less than 10% compared to over 50% for S&P . This tells us what a sorry state of affairs the uk stock market is in .

GWatson did you hit your 489 buy?
Fwiw I reckon 550 is nailed on this next 2 or 3 months also - that upgrade back to A1 is very good news and very welcomed - I’d forgotten all about that

Just got back in here having sold recently at sub 500.

Could have got a bit more by waiting a little and no doubt may be able to buy for a bit less too but I am happy to be holding again as I do think 500 could become a support level as the year progresses.

Good luck all 👍🏻

Since the shares took a downturn on Q3 results due to weak gas trading and a write down of their US wind assets, BP have bought back 416.8m of their shares for $1.97bn at an average of £4.73. That's good value in my book.

$85.00 a barrel/Brent, there racking it in. Results should be good. As you say, hellscream is good for buybacks.
