When asked what inspired the author to write this book, GBG
said, "My two sons, Cedric and Jayson, family, friends and faith
are very important to me. While trying to navigate through God's
purpose for my life, the title, 'Triumphs in the Midst of Life's
Storms,' was placed in my spirit. I began to write about life's
journey thru the eyes of family, friends and people who crossed my
path while working in management at the Department of the Treasury
and the need for hope in a world that has become full of chaos and
confusion. I began to realize that the Heavenly Father and His word
was being replaced by politicians, politics and personal agendas. I
live my life by these mantras placed in my spirit: Behind every
successful person is a story, get to know the story behind the
story; JOY (Jesus Over Yourself) and finally LOL (Leaning on LORD).
I am currently working on two other books titled, 'Facing Your
Goliaths' and 'Harvesting Success.'"
At a young age, GBG realized she had a passion for writing, a
skill that later on was critical in the various upper management
positions that she held within the Department of Treasury. She was
a certified mediator for the Federal Executive Board and out of
fifty submissions, GBG was named a finalist for the Public Service
Excellence Awards for Quality Improvement. She successfully
completed the Department of Treasury's executive readiness program.
In that leadership training, GBG learned that great leaders must
brainstorm to create an environment that balances home and work
life. One initiative that she executed was creating and
distributing personalized greeting cards, the first time GBG sought
the Holy Spirit's guidance on how she could use her gift of writing
to inspire others and let them know they were valued.
GBG is also passionate about designing and creating themed
parties at her home. She has held annual Super Bowl parties that
included decorating her home with the respective football team
colors/themes. GBG currently owns an event planning company,
Kouture Expressions Unlimited, LLC.
