ATLANTA, July 15, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Massage Envy
Franchising, LLC today noted factual inaccuracies in recently
publicized communications regarding campaign contributions to
Secretary of State and Gubernatorial candidate, Brian Kemp.
"Because our company was mentioned in the letter, we want to
make sure everyone has the facts," said Melanie Hansen, Massage Envy chief compliance
officer and general counsel. "First and foremost, we and our
franchisees fully support the Georgia Board of Massage Therapy
thoroughly investigating every sexual assault
complaint – just as our franchisees are required to
do – and, where they find sexual misconduct, immediately
revoking the therapist's license."
Massage Envy can verify that:
- Patrick Greco no longer owns
Massage Envy franchises and did not own them at the time of the
fundraiser he held for Mr. Kemp.
- To our knowledge, no Georgia Massage Envy franchise locations
are under investigation by the Georgia Board of Massage Therapy. The
Georgia Board generally regulates
individual therapists, not clinics.
- Consistent with the company's Zero Tolerance policy, the
therapists in question were terminated and restricted, meaning they
are not eligible for hire at any Massage Envy location and,
importantly, that franchisees have no favor to gain from the state
Board with respect to these therapists.
"Our Commitment to Safety plan further strengthens our
policies and procedures, and we continue to work
with victim advocates and outside experts like
RAINN, a leading authority on preventing sexual assault
and supporting victims.. Any incident of sexual assault
is tragic, and our hearts go out to the victims of
these horrible crimes. At Massage Envy, there is nothing more
important than safety in the treatment room," Hansen
said.
