Today company mixing the AGM video and an Investor Meet tHe company presentaion (copy available on line) was a muddle, mistake and a mess. More thought should be applied in presenting the company to shareholders and general public.

More than likely Ruffer offloading, they have been big sellers for a while.

Ruffer have been selling alot of positions and switching to USA bonds..

These would probably be about £3.50 if it wasn't for fund selling...

‘Impressive217; Volex can take share, says Downing

Volex (VLX), the manufacturer of electronic connectors, is proving it can take share while also maintaining pricing, says Downing manager Judith MacKenzie.

The Citywire Elite Companies A-rated stock is the third largest holding in MacKenzie’s £35m Downing Strategic Micro-Cap (DSM) investment trust, where it makes up 8.2% of assets.

Mackenzie said that the group reported a ‘strong set of full-year results which demonstrated continued revenue growth across all divisions’.

‘Operating margins recovered as expected and net debt reduced as working capital normalised post-Covid,’ she said.

‘We thought that the consumer results were particularly impressive, with a flat revenue performance in the face of declining volumes – proof that the business can take share and maintain pricing.’

The business has also announced the recent acquisition of Murat Ticaret, a Turkish manufacturer of harnesses for the growing off-highway sector.

MacKenzie said that Murat is similar to Volex’s ‘existing high mix, low volume healthcare cable assembly businesses based in Poland and Slovakia’.

‘It is also significantly vertically integrated, like prior Turkish acquisition DE-KA,’ she added. ‘Both of these factors drive margins which are around double Volex’s and will be highly accretive to the group going forwards.

‘We expect the shares to re-rate on completion of the deal, and going forwards as earnings and margin grow ahead of expectations.’

Interesting development in the city of Lund, Sweden where they are experimenting with recharging the batteries of electric cars as they are in motion using a system similar to scalextric cars. A electric metal strip is inserted into each motor lane ("up and down") and makes contact with a probe lowered from the vehicle in order to conduct electric to recharge the battery.

Might limit the sale of cables to the EV industry if the idea takes off.
