Results and outlook seem decent enough. Placing will keep a lid on the price for a while. Acquisition looks value on Ebitda, less so vs revenue. Should be decent if they can maintain margins

Surprisingly, to me at least, China seems to be, if not leading the charge, (forgive pun) out gunning many legacy carmakers with electric vehicle market penetration now. Not sure how that impacts vlx

Some background pluses: data centre growth fuelled by AI is booming. 14% market expansion expected this year. Tesla sales very strong, expected to be 1.8mln cars, vs 1.2mlm last year (+37%). And at the same time, Tesla charging infrastructure is slowly becoming the de facto infrastructure and standard for the whole EV industry with the widespread use of adapters. All possible tailwinds for Volex. Against this, the easing in supply chain is leading to some inventory de stocking worldwide which could temporarily affect demand from some of their customers.

There's room for another surprise in the June update. Data center growth has been explosive this year, fuelled by AI. And margins in some segments have been very high due to parts shortages. If they've latched on to any of this trend then I can see another upgrade.

I guess as a wider point you have to wonder what is Nats wider motivation. He was born with more money than we’ll ever have, had a bit of a dubious record before here but as mentioned probably wants something more prestigious at some point. There can’t be a sale without his approval given his stake. Not sure Peel Hunt do a lot of M&A though. Time will tell, I’m here for longer term growth rather than a takeover.
