Thanks Jen. Interesting that PA's appointment is described by NR as probationary - on both sides!. PA is certainly big at bigging himself up - I hope he isn't just all-American hot air and can usefully promote Versarien's best interests across the USA. The office premises look good, but the teaser images he tweeted of the applications lab look like my garage.

I will not be wasting time trying to promote FGR. A lot of soul searching and some information that just came into my hands means I can not in all honesty promote something i no longer have Faith in. Please forgive my previous attempts to talk down VRS. My previous actions were not only fuelled by ulterior motives but also jealousy.
I will be getting out of FGR and advising a small group of friends to do so.
No hard feelings

Graphenejen, many thanks for the background to the PA appointment - it could hardly be a more comprehensive response. NR is obviously happy he's got the right guy for the job and we should be happy that PA isn't conflicted or spread too thin. Certainly his CV reads germanely well he seems happy to be in the saddle.

Not checked back in since last night, thanks for responding SuperG.I was aware of the Talga activity, but not the exact figures you provided. I hope that response hasn't spurred WG into action. I'm sure you are more than capable of handling it though

Chumbo: I emailed Neill (before your post) as I too was concerned about Patrick’s ‘multiple hats'. I’m sure he won’t mind me posting his response:

‘I first met Patrick when he worked for XG. XG is based in Lansing Michigan, somewhere I know very well. Patrick is based in Houston. I spent a lot of time with him at the NGA conference and was impressed with him and his work ethic. I like to know our competitors better than our employees. I asked him outright if he wanted to come help us set up the USA outfit but he declined as he had already accepted another offer, the USA is a very different place to work compared to the UK and is very cut throat. Good people are hard to find. It was also a little early for us.

He had an offer from an outfit we know quite well called AGS, who have another company who wanted our help called Qdot, run by a guy called Tim Dupler. We also know their financial backers. Long story short it didn't materialise with AGS and being in the right place at the right time, Patrick agreed to come work for us.

AGS is no more, well not in the way we would know. Patrick is now an employee of Versarien Graphene Inc and is still the chairman of GMSE , but isn't actively involved. He is full time on VRS but still on probation so keeps it open until he knows we are good (having been caught out before) and we know he is the right man for the job.

This was all only sorted last week, contracts, company formed etc so it is understandable there are a few loose ends to tie up, but it all came together really quickly and we have had to all react to the opportunity but in front of us. Patrick had a good career as a Marine Captain and then with BASF before being made redundant. He has had a few very useful intermediate jobs with Huntsman, XG etc.

He was also a racing car driver to a high level and all this checks out with my colleagues.

Like all new employees he will have to prove himself to become part of the inner team with Chris, Matt, Steve, David and myself. I suggest we all give him that chance. He has already brought a lot to the table and has been very busy this weekend.’ Jen
