04/11/2018 08:58 | Canadian graphite miner speaks graphene to the world on YouTube: Ditzy interviewer clearly has no clue, but Bubar seems to know his FLG from his graphite. Actually we may need to pay some heed to these miners of high quality graphite, after all VRS will have to source all these hundreds (then thousands) of tons of raw material from somewhere, so It might as well be the best stuff! | ![]() shavian
04/11/2018 08:44 | I mean, This sounds very much like 'geic' to me imo? Best ellis "The mission of the Cambridge Graphene Centre is to investigate the science and technology of graphene, carbon allotropes, layered crystals and hybrid nanomaterials. 04/11/2018 08:42 | EllissJ Very informative posts Cheers !! There just seems to be so much going on futuristic space age stuff , with this new material and it's potential uses that seem to be ever evolving . Reminds us of the massive potential here . Atb Ff | ![]() forestfred
04/11/2018 08:41 | Re: the Juliet Samuel article in yesterday’s Telegraph. This goes to the heart of why NR refused to rush into the offers made to him by Jinan and others on the PM’s trade mission in January, and why he insisted on going no further than the LOI. This set the scene imo for everything that has happened (or not happened) between VRS and China since then. HMG’s dilemma is wanting to expand trading links with PRC while being uncomfortably aware of their expansionist ambitions by any means including military ones as well as soft power and industrial aid. Hence the realisation by HMG of the importance of VRS’s technology and then the sudden involvement of our two DIT men in making sure that any progress with China does not involve the compromise of absolutely vital British interests in the shape of Versarien’s IP. Hence the delays. Very sensible in my view. Festina Lente should be our motto. Or am I becoming a conspiracy theorist? | ![]() shavian
04/11/2018 08:35 | Very exciting discovery. I see materials used were prepared in situ via micro mechanical preparation. I imagine as it progresses, a tender process for material supply will apply. Aimo. Best ellis "Cambridge researchers discover quintons - a new quasiparticle in layered materials last modified Sep 14, 2018 08:16 AM Understanding quintons could speed up communications and bring new functionalities in quantum technologies Charged elementary particles are responsible for the electronic properties of materials and devices. The world of optics, however, is ruled by quasiparticles known as excitons – collections of few particles that behave like a single being. A team of researchers from the Cavendish Laboratory and the Cambridge Graphene Centre at the University of Cambridge, together with collaborators in the US and Japan, discovered a new type of quasiparticle in an atomically thin layered material: a monolayer of tungsten selenide. These new particles are called ‘quintons&rsqu | ellissj
04/11/2018 08:27 | Of course stephen based at cambridge graphene centre as an 'industrial visitor.' It's mission sounds right at the forefront of graphene/2D materials research. Part of the graphene flagship. Announced discovery of 'quintons' in sept. Just announced as a partner in eu quantum flagship. Could it be argued cambridge is at the forefront of graphene/2D materials research in uk now ? Aimo. Best ellis "The mission of the Cambridge Graphene Centre is to investigate the science and technology of graphene, carbon allotropes, layered crystals and hybrid nanomaterials. This engineering innovation centre allows our partners to meet, and effectively establish joint industrial-academic activities to promote innovative and adventurous research with an emphasis on applications. The facilities and equipment have been selected to promote alignment with industry, by filling two main vacuums. The first is the lack of intermediate scale printing and processing systems where the industrial upscale and optimization of inks based on graphene, related carbon nanomaterials, and novel two dimensional crystals can be tested and optimized. The second vacuum stems from the challenge posed by the unique properties of graphene: the centre facilities aim to fully cover those properties necessary to achieve the goal of "graphene-augmented" smart integrated devices on flexible/transparent substrates, with the necessary energy storage capability to work autonomously and wireless connected.gate the science and technology of graphene, carbon allotropes, layered crystals and hybrid nanomaterials. The strategic focus are activities built around the central challenge of flexible and energy efficient (opto)electronics, for which graphene and related materials are a unique enabling platform. This will be achieved through four main themes. T1: growth, transfer and printing; T2: energy; T3: connectivity; T4: detectors. The core funding to establish the Centre comes from two programme grants and one equipment grant under the "EPSRC Graphene Engineering" call, from the Graphene Flagship, the Quantum Flagship, and the ERC Synergy Grant Hetero2D. Within the ERC framework, the Cambridge Graphene Centre is part of a Synergy group with the Graphene National Institute in Manchester, and the University of Lancaster, targeting heterostructures and superstructures based on two-dimensional atomic crystals and their hybrids with metallic and semiconducting quantum dots. This new concept of "materials on demand" will enable a large number of different artificial three-dimensional materials, with tailored properties, to be used in new multifunctional devices." | ellissj
04/11/2018 08:15 | Just looking back at rns of stephen hodge appn as vrs head of research. Neill believes it keeps vrs at 'very cutting edge.' Best ellis "Neill Ricketts, CEO of Versarien, commented: "I am delighted that Stephen has been appointed to the newly created role of Head of Research. He has been working at the forefront of graphene and other 2d materials development for some time and his leadership of our R&D function will ensure that Versarien remains at the very cutting edge of the development of 2d materials and their applications." "His research interests cover the large scale development of nanomaterial-based dispersions, inks, coatings and functional 2d and 3d architectures for their incorporation into flexible electronics, sensor applications and energy storage/generation devices." | ellissj

03/11/2018 23:31 | Perhaps the market cap of VRS has something to do with it being a good developing British company. Support from the university that discovered graphene along with other universities, top academics and the government give strength to the company foundations. Add in a very committed and competent management team and workforce gives more value. Along with two established businesses and other 2D products Versarien is not a one trick pony.Like Tini I won't invest in a company that has Australian links due to past losses, I am sure there are many others with the same issues so perhaps FGR valuation suffers because it is an Aus company.XG have blown loads of money getting nowhere, it has taken them 3 years to get Ford to incorporate their product into acoustic deadening. If they really have FLG then I am sure they can manage to find better uses. If no better use could be found then you have to question their quality in my opinion, graphene has so much more to offer. Most of us posting on here hope VRS go on to be be a great British company. We believe it has products that can change many things in the world for the better for the benefit of most, if not all people.I find it sad that a few try and knock the company back, surely you should be backing huge British potential not attacking it. | wr63

03/11/2018 21:17 | Good morning Superg1, can you please point to any of my posts where I have called Talga Resources a Fraud ? Are you aware comments like this are defamation? Please Edit you posts above or substantiate your claim. Some light reading on what is defamation according to the UK law SG1 post________________ On the Talga fraud but it was Spid calling them a fraud. I hadn’t looked that deeply I’d seen enough lies to walk on. Now I know Grigor was pumping Talga it now all makes sense why spid now pumps FGR. Talga best in the world replaced by FGR best in the world. Same frigging guy doing it (Grigor) so news and fuel on the fire for me. | ![]() spid81
