So back to the point.

This is not a random intended acquisition, it fits something in the already developed battery area VRS are already in.

I like reminders as I did an "oh yeah" moment when I read this bit.

"Significant advances have been made through incorporating the Company's high quality graphene into these devices and the Company looks forward to commercial products becoming available in due course."

Now soon back and some may recall a news intent we found that obvious wasn't considered material at the time, so posters here were ell area VRS were working on batteries and funding had been obtained.

VRS graphene ink Nov 2017

One of the applications he particularly believes in is the ink’s integration into batteries. Thanks to this, enhanced batteries with higher storage density and recyclability may be produced. This integration process is in fact already on track: Although Prof. Ferrari says it’s too soon to give out more information, he has already obtained further funding to bring HIGRAPHINK’s production technique to batteries.

‘We managed to develop a new technique to create large quantities of high-quality ink. This means that there is potential for demanding sectors in applications ranging from batteries to supercapacitors, displays, flexible electronics, optoelectronics, composites, coating or even medical devices. We are not restricted to one particular area,’ says Prof. Ferrari.

The bears started to short VRS at 60-70p and a lead one of those was sent the document with the detail above in it.

They ignored it. Just 2nd we got the battery update and now this.

I know from other Aim companies investors like such companies as they see high growth potential.

I can ignore the prior stuff re WMG as it's all nicely mentioned in the battery update news on 2nd July.

NOTE WMG and their "PARTNER COMPANIES"

Versarien plc (AIM: VRS), the advanced materials engineering group, is pleased to provide an update on its activities in relation to graphene enhanced power storage devices such as batteries and supercapacitors. The primary goal of incorporating graphene into these devices is to significantly increase power storage capacity and reduce charging times.

Versarien has been working with WMG (Warwick Manufacturing Group) and their partner companies and scientists at the universities of Warwick and Cambridge to collaborate on the production of power storage devices such as batteries and supercapacitors using Versarien's proprietary Nanene graphene nano platelets. Significant advances have been made through incorporating the Company's high quality graphene into these devices and the Company looks forward to commercial products becoming available in due course.

The relationship with WMG has now been supplemented by a number of other agreements that provide Versarien with access to both leading technology providers and manufacturing expertise, both in the UK and overseas, including China.

Other bits mentioned include Zap and go and

The Company, through its subsidiary Cambridge Graphene Ltd, is pleased to be part of the Flexibat consortium that has recently been awarded £1.2 million of grant funding from Innovate UK as part of a £1.5 million project to develop and bring to market graphene enhanced, thin, flexible printed batteries for electronic wearable and IoT (Internet of Things) devices. From the £1.2m of grant funding, Cambridge Graphene will directly receive approximately £145,000 and indirectly benefit from the funding provided to the other consortium members.

In addition to these relationships, the Company is pleased to report that it has received its first small initial order for Nanene graphene nano platelets from a Chinese automotive battery manufacturer for their technical evaluation.

Neill Ricketts, CEO of Versarien, commented: "Improved battery technology is a key area where the addition of high quality graphene can provide significant benefits. Alongside our work and collaborations in the areas of graphene enhanced composites and plastics, battery technology is a key focus for Versarien.

Then add in that we keep getting told that we are way behind the curve by the time news comes out.

So imo Ganomat has something very useful that fits in with the previous update.

We will hear about it tomorrow and at the AGM.

I'm finding some posts a bit odd but then some time back I thought I was logical and that started a long exchange.

Why do I say that?

Well there have been a lot of posts on here including battery tech VRS related. I will mention then in another post shortly.

VRS are collaborating with WMG on batteries and have done for some time. WMG obviously hit a barrier but then mentioned graphene 'girders' being the breakthrough which happened to be few layer GNPs.

We also know that WMG are in Cambridge graphene centre and they have a battery room there.

We had Professor Ferrari at Cambridge going on about funding gained and moving forward re batteries. VRS said they have made advances with super-capacitors and more recently A Chinese company has some Nanene to test in batteries.

VRS have staff in the UOM, GEIC and WMG including and array of link ups with experts and other such centres.

So my way of thinking is that in Gnanomat NR and the team have spotted something. Perhaps something that the collection of those working on it are looking for. Therefore NR having spotted the missing piece has gone after it because he knows it has high value. Gnanomat may not know about the other pieces of the jigsaw. Gnanomat has already had funding via the graphene flagship EU funding. It opens the door to funding in a relevant sector that will be in the right area to get further funding.

So why would Gnanomat go with VRS. Well NR keeps saying one thing that attracts the big companies is the link up with the UMO, NGI Cambridge and so on. VRS now also have the government link up, so it must seem highly attractive to Gnanomat.

No way imo would NR and co go and pick some random company in batteries and go for it. It could be that Gnano did see they have filled a gap and approached VRS.

VRS did not chase 2-Dtech and Cambridge graphene, they came knocking on the door of VRS.

Taurus........not one of the best posts but have you met NR and any member of his team and more to the point have you seen the stuff being manufactured and how much research have you done.

For most of the posters not only have we been in since almost the beginning - and that was based on the word GRAPHENE we have slowly seen how the company has evolved. Fast forward to today and here is an acquisition in the fast moving world maket of graphene where many of us now understand (perhaps not as a Uni Prof might) but enough to know that our investment is in very good hands.

If VRS were to go bust then everybody else in this industry would as what you are saying is that no one in the world wants the stuff?

So TAURUS the Bear..do you want to carry on your debate with this BB?

What am I not getting here?

VRS raise money to buy a company that has done all of the groundwork, on the cusp of production and needed to take the next step but didn't have access to the funds, it happens to companies all of the time.

Why would the price fall tomorrow when fundamentally the only thing that has changed is an investment in a company ready to go (far more advanced than 2D Tech was)?

IF there is a share price drop then people will be fortunate to buy any, surely with what some say is a bargain purchase of a highly developed company then that will add value to the SP?

That is without all of the other possibilities it opens up regarding Nanene production in a European base as well as the Graphinks. Imagine all of those prospective leads it opens up too as Gnano haven't got where they are by sitting on their laurels.

The purchase adds value to VRS not reduces it!

Shareholder Issues RNS, No: 002
For Immediate Release
23/09/2018, 10:30

I am delighted with the latest rns announcing that Versarien Plc is about to conclude the ownership of a majority stake in Gnanomat SL. It is evident, judging by the speed with which the offer of new shares to fund this majority stake was taken up via PrimaryBid, that the vast majority of shareholders are extremely happy with the direction in which Neill Ricketts, Versarien CEO, is steering the company. In my opinion, this deal has huge potential for the company.

I look forward with eager anticipation to the scale up of the Gnanomat pilot plant that will be achieved with funding from Versarien. This surely will give Versarien unprecedented direct access to the complete supply chain of the latest energy storage devices for use in electrical vehicles and portable electronics products. The additional benefit of becoming ‘a centre of excellence for energy in Europe with access to a proportion of the c€1bn of research funding post Brexit, and access to Spanish graphene research institutions’ cannot be underestimated.

Vasilis (#35415) sums up the mood well when he says ‘I'm more surprised that Neill has pulled this off than anything else.’ I concur with his observation that the stages to building Versarien to an 'industrial level' production are starting to take shape.

I am also gratefull and impressed with the Versarien CEO’s willingness to engage with shareholders, and was highly encouraged to read his tweet in which he said ’we are in the process of buying a great company with truly disruptive technology in batteries and super-caps. It gives us battery experts, greater access to @GrapheneCA, new links to foreign unis, I am very, very excited’.

Versarien, together with Gnanomat will create a ‘virtous circle’; graphene sourced from Versarien will help Gnanomat to bring to market new battery products, resulting in profits for Versairen. In addition, access to EU funding through Gnanomat will the icing on the cake. ‘This is a great win win situation for all concerned.’ [phoenixs (#35521)]

luckykids (#35524) points out that Versarien has probably entered ‘the most competitive technology market in the world at the moment’ at a cost of £2.9 million, and poses the question ‘are we going to succeed?’. I have little doubt that Versarien has done extensive due diligence and are following a strategy that will position the company as one of the leaders in the arena of graphene and new battery technology.

The CEO, who happens to be the largest shareholder, has also clearly addressed concerns regarding share dilution when he said ‘We didn't need the money for the existing business, it is a great opportunity imho and gives us a massive advantage in battery tech, it is very, very low dilution.’ Surprisingly, Tim Kempster‏, a long standing critic of Versarien was impressed by this rns; ‘Congratulatins @neillricketts in advance in raising a good chunk with minimal dilution. Credit where it's due that's an impressive bit of work.’

In summary, I will simply quote the words of Small_Holding (iii discussion board) when he says ‘having successfully concluded an oversubscribed fund raise, announced one of their best potential deals ever, with frustrated buyers who have missed out on this opportunity to buy, the day before a long awaited AGM where Neill has already said he will provide an update on the China deal, I expect the share price to rise on Monday not fall.’

VRS1........does it matter if the Spanish acquisition were to fail. It would be written off in the P/L account and the benefits in the meantime would have been really useful. No company cash would have been involved.

Not for one moment do I think that NR, with his engineering brain would think that way as he has proved time and time again how adapt he is along with the team in putting his global plan in place.

I bet Arden Partners were a bit upset - no commissions and fees.......however, PB are still looked at as a bucket shop but as I have said in a recent post they serve their purpose and the the City had best wake up as IT is here to distrupt them.

Can't wait for tomorrow..........

I am expecting nothing less than a blue day tomorrow, I believe this will be assisted by an RNS providing more detail (collaboration partner, justification). Upcoming podcast and the upcoming AGM which will contain updates on the existing collaborations and international expansion.

What an exciting time we have ahead of us. Newsflow drives a share price and we have a conveyor belt full of it.

I too missed out on the PB fundraising - but no sour grapes here. Well done to everyone who was able to take part. Looks like a good deal, and would be great if we get another announcement saying that there's already an order for our new investment.

Whether we do or not, fascinating to see how this unfolds...

I'm not a big poster, but when share price started to fall and I noticed negative comments on ADVFN by a few doomsters, I felt the need to post some very positive words. Odd thing is this is all within the past 5 trading days. I feel for those who fell for rubbish from the doomsters and sold. The doomsters may have pulled off a coup and made fortunes.

The Spanish purchase could/maybe/ possibly be the greatest purchase of the century - only time will tell.

IMO, we finally have a government who has recognises that VRS is a special company. My guess is that they have brought VRS and Dyson together already. Time will tell. Grabsters comments as well as many others really do reaffirm the possibilities of the Spanish deal when compared to money speant by Dyson and Tesla. In a recent podcast, NR said if we crack batteries, then this is the key to the world (or something like that).

I can't believe that VRS is only paying 3 million. Either it works or it doesn't and we know graphene works in batteries, so this is an amazing deal. I can't wait for Monday morning. To all those more technical then me - please be nice - I'm a simple guy who believes in VRS.

thecrunk,

I first visited VRS in 2015. I was told of the vision-in a low key way but felt it was too early stage for me.I didn't buy any shares until last year as it started to become clear the masterplan was coming together.

At the meeting in 2015 we did discuss the fact "you get one chance on AIM".

NR knew once he raised his head above the parapet he had to be pretty sure he was on a home run.

His confidence, I believe, comes from what he knows is currently going on within the business.

Yes a lot of cash being spent on battery tech at the mo - Most of it it will be wasted as Dyson just found out - But if graphene has a part to play in the "Final Solution" ( near/mid term that is) then who knows more about graphene than VRS? - £3mill or whatever a punt maybe, but at only 1% dilution who knows how far it could go - Perhaps we can sell it on at a handsome profit? - there certainly seems to be a market for this tech & their patents might just be valuable as a small part of the battery solution rather than the whole

Must be a headache for Musk and CO & all these mega battery factories in construction - The tech is advancing daily it seems - I suppose the factories will be tooled to be adaptable - & new battery models produced yearly like the iphone
