02/9/2018 19:02 | Yes, nothing would please me more than to see two retired nurses afforded a (much) more comfortable retirement. If only the NHS pension fund would buy a chunk of VRS ;-) | club sandwich
02/9/2018 18:39 | Yes FB i know to have a decent retirement you have to take onboard some risk as sticking it in a bank at 1.5% isn't an option. But all the best i hope it works out for you both in a spectacular way. | dmorty87
02/9/2018 16:32 | Hattie - Well hopefully there will be two very wealthy retired nurses in the not too distant future, you both deserve it. Palliative care is a particularly tough specialism in what is already a very tough profession, I'm not sure how you do it to be honest. dmorty - Yes it was a bit nerve wracking to begin with but she understands the risks and her portfolio is up 80% now so I have a bit of breathing space if anything bad happens. | foolishben
02/9/2018 16:19 | Hi Ben John Eastwood Hospice in Notts ..a very special place ... my pension here too .. | hattie1
02/9/2018 16:06 | FB your mum has a lot of faith in you,, just don't live up to your name! | dmorty87
02/9/2018 15:46 | Hi Hattie. My mums a recently retired palliative care nurse, where did you work? She was at St Christopher’s for quite a while, before moving into a hospital based community role. I used her pension lump sum to set up a portfolio, which I manage for her. She doesn’t know much about it but but she has 60,000 VRS shares and hopefully a more comfortable retirement than she is expecting. Nurse’s pay is quite awful in comparison to the equivalent corporate roles so I’d love for her to be able to enjoy more of life’s luxuries in the future. Come on Neill, no pressure!!! | foolishben
02/9/2018 14:46 | No difficulty with that. Neill (characteristically) apologised for being less communicative recently. No doubt he'll be back in harness (on social media) in his own time. | compoundup
02/9/2018 14:41 | But every human being needs rest, privacy and a modicum of peace. | festario
02/9/2018 14:26 | I disagree Fest. I posted here some weeks ago how I thought Neill might be too accommodative of trolls at the time of the Manchester Uni student anti-Israeli diatribes.I have since reviewed my opinion for 2 reasons. 1 that he is showing a rare ability to handle the most corrosive of society with ease and 2 that the long reach of his communication to people who can then see what a level-headed bloke he is, is very positive and inexpensive PR for the company. That is a good thing. | compoundup
02/9/2018 14:00 | I just wish Mr Ricketts would choose to block certain types on Twitter, and be more selective with whom he engages.Yes, I know what criticism that would bring, but they can be ignored and blocked too.Constantly being nagged, criticised and questioned brings with it a degree of negativity. A bad vibe if you like.I know he sees it as sport, fencing with the bears, but the time it takes, and the drain on the mood can't be good overall. These characters who tweet him, for good or for for bad reasons, need to realise that they are not entitled to a response. No one is entitled to have a direct line of communication with anyone, constantly. We all need peace and quiet. | festario
02/9/2018 13:40 | such BS industrious1, go back to your cave, please. | mryl
02/9/2018 13:21 | I personally don't think it's a topic for a spat on here (understatement). I've said nothing about it or sent messages as I will see him Wednesday (If he is there). No doubt it will have affected and impacted a number of people within the relevant social circles and they will be there for each other. Unfortunately I have far too much experience of this. Generally the only route I know to some sanity in such times is the passage of time and celebrating the life of those concerned with close friends. So on that point I wish him well. | superg1
02/9/2018 12:29 | Just not so industriast1 we are simply respecting Neill and giving the guy time and space. No point in banging on to him about how sorry we all are. I think if you go into twitter there are many multiple offers of condolence from the #vrsfamily. Not seen a poste from you before on this board...are you a holder! thanx psx | psxtalks2u
02/9/2018 12:25 | presumably if those headphones are going to be released this year they're in manufacturing now? If so, wonder why there has been no announcement of an order for nanene? I can't see the order would be very large - in the kgs range I expect - but would still be good news. maybe they're waiting for a multi-T order to splash with, and who can blame them? | club sandwich
02/9/2018 12:23 | I suggest you read my previous post and dont make assumptions about what any of the long term holders may or may not have done as a former specialist palliative care nurse i for one dont need any advice on bereavement and its effects | hattie1
02/9/2018 11:31 | I will be getting a pair as soon as they are released but I may not be able to appreciate the finer sounds due to ageing hearing loss and tinnitus - but I am sure I will have a smile on my face. | dgduncan
02/9/2018 11:28 | If they do some out I was going to get some for my kids and they will soon tell me whether they are better than the others they have. If they are then the snowball effect kicks in re the grapevine and kudos in that generation. With snapchat and the like news spreads faster than wildfire. | superg1
02/9/2018 11:04 | Club great news as you say last week gets more encouraging and exciting all the time.. | hattie1 |
