Thing is Superg1 I did research and buy prism -- as it went up and nervously traded in and out. Made money but nothing like what I should have done and sold out about 1100 when Bbs ran out of news.

I even sold out my mum's prism to buy £vod! Luckily, finally sold that out at a loss to buy more vrs.

Then bought back into prism for myself for the drop and got stopped out for a small loss, twice, as it plummeted... then twice bitten, once shy and didn't buy back in again!

Maybe it's mifid 2 but there was no reliable info on any bulletin board and I couldn't make much of the updates/ reports.

I don't know about others on this board but would love to know about your research methods superg1. Perhaps you could write a longer blog /posts / thread pointing out to serious lths how you go about doing your deep dives.

Though I know that's a lot to ask & may be giving your commercial secrets away! :-) you say dyor but with four jobs my research is loking what experts like yourself, Paul Scott, naked trader etc say about a stock then reading between the lines & finding out who's trustworthy & in what circs. I rely more on psychology & newsflow in sectors than company numbers. Getting slowly better but need all the help I can get!

From a business perspective which I know a little about the potential mark ups, scalability and returns on product is a bit mind boggling tbh, I’m happy to leave the technicals aside for the more knowledgeable members here (who I’m very thankful for their input) the current share price in hindsight will represent a steal all imho

PRSM

It shows what can happen when investors like it and growth is in play.

Around £40m to £50m revenue rate. Losses about £8m to £10m. Interest and growth described as meteoric. Market cap £1.5 bill

3 directors cash in £20 mill worth of shares after the run of news. I expect cashing some in especially if they have loads but it was large chuck of the holding for one and in theory is they manage that cash well they are made for life.

Strange enough fest, I've been thinking same for last two days. My investing experience is not like others here but I've been looking at posts on Twitter over this time and observing the attitude. Penny stock lot is different, post about buying 100k of 2p stock or even 20p, £2k or £20k max and talk about it like hell. This is not serious money when it comes to investing. Books written by US authors correctly point to minimum of $25K as portfolio account opening amount. As i said before, based on the books I read, i didn't touch penny stocks in the beginning and ITM vrs were the first ones but quickly sold ITM as it was mostly falling or moving sideways. I know few people who started with few grand portfolio and wrongly invested in penny stocks, lost everything and now think investing and trading is not for them. Somehow for 1/2p change I don't feel like holding the stock, may be it's reading effect. No doubt, penny stock posters don't post much here now. Also, don't confuse penny stocks with value investing. They are not same and penny stocks moving into quids are few indeed. Finally, penny stock based successful investors are few also based on my previous line.

Re prism.

There are dozens of hot hyped software companies out there so how do you choose.

Unless you are an expert in the area how can Aim punters that do no research even begin to understand it, they are all pumped with equal vigour.

The if you are in it's impossible to track any other software that may come and completely skittle your company. It's a highly competitive lucrative area with 1000's of companies chasing it.

So for me it's simple, the Buffet rules. If he doesn't understand it he doesn't invest.

I don't think, follow Buffet, I just happen to agree.

So for stock market challenge thingy (never done it before) I quickly looked up such companies (only had 24 hrs).

One pick was Sopheon. It's up over 100%, I didn't buy any, I don't understand it but the fundamentals looked good. I picked 5 on that basis and all are up.

From an Australian bulletin board - one man's view (spid81) of various graphene/graphite players (Versarien only mentioned with regard to involvement with GEIC)

psx

One guy from one of the huge companies that asked XG calls them a fraud.

I asked XG to get material data sheets and asked for any evidence of performance. They said they didn't have any.

So I sent some to them the form if various scientific tests including one from their local Uni which also had email exchanges between them in it. There were no gains in any of the papers and in some tests it showed up to something like an 80% drop in strength compared to the raw material.

XG were one of the first producers and started 10 years and big names piled in. Samsung, Posco, Hanwah and Cabot. That's how I knew big names were active in graphene.

That's why I thought when VRS showed they had graphene that performs proven and tested by the UOM that big names would pile in.

XG are suggested to be one of the reasons many big names thought graphene was just hype and didn't work.

XG had (they may still have them) 55 papers on their site and big claims about what graphene can do.

I couldn't open them each one had to be paid for. Then I noticed the names involved in each paper. Everyone of the papers included XG founders.

Ask at the AGM if VRS were approached about golf balls. Callaway wanted a gimmick to try and break into the premium priced range golf ball area which is dominated by Titleist. So they spend a few pence per ball and ramp the price up on a gimmick.

I know golf gimmicks are rife.

"The new xxx driver will hit it 25 years further"

Golf fitting is about what club suits you. With the advances expensive kit (£100k) is used and you stand hit the ball with each club and it tells you which club is best for you.

EG Nike Fazer was a hot gimmick, but in the tests the ball was all over the place for me. A rather expensive Ping was by far the best, but for someone else it may prove to be the worst. Same re the Fazer irons really shockingly poor.

Odd then then when Rory went with the Nike clubs. Pro's around him thought it was a bad move. His game then deteriorated. Perhaps the pros had tried it and had a similar experience.

So in golf 25 yard further is BS as it all depends what is the best type of club for each individual on the testing kit. Golfers are like AIM experienced guys they know all the hype is `BS. Amateur golf is dying sport many golf clubs have closed, not so long back you couldn't join and were on years long waiting lists.

Social media is talking over, pubs are closing too. 10,500 pubs have closed since 2000. The same goes for other sports like amateur football, except girls football which seems to be on a big surge.

I suspect in 10-20 years time we are going to have an awful lot of unhealthy people around. It's bad enough now.

johnveals - well if they're short they are deep underwater and it's getting worse by the week if not the day. I imagine they're losing a lot of sleep wondering whether to take their loss now and admit defeat or hang on and hope things improve. It's the classic dilemma of when to let go of a rising balloon...

gb - "Neall has hinted China news of some sort is close hense watch peters Twitter"

If there is seriously significant news from China it will presumably have to come via a company announcement rather than one individual's tweet. So I imagine what Peter Jay tweets will be some sort of positive or encouraging indication of progress, rather than anything more - or just some comment expressing his own confidence. But I am among the many waiting to hear whatever it is.

Personally I have no sell price Target as
I intend to work another 3 years. I would not be surprised if the share price is £6 by Easter. With all the News to come. Matt walker said when he came to Versarien that he was here to help create jobs and add value to the British economy. To add jobs we will have to be producing Shed loads of
Material in the U.K. . This has further been endorsed by Versarien joining this Flagship British exporters club along with some other massive U.K.companies. I agree with Fest the majority of private investors that will hold Versarien are already holding. The question will be how long can you hold for.you have to remember that it’s only money when you spend it. Until then it’s just numbers. l believe It was Spike that proved this with the lovely things he has done to help his family already. My advice Hold until you need the money. My intention was to buy a house in the sunshine .i now think that will be achievable very soon.as the share price grows it will give me the confidence to spend other savings more freely as we become less dependant upon them .1 believe Versarien will be a multi Billion pound company within 2/3 years and that’s when I intend to sell perhaps half of my holding.and have a proper spend up. So fellow Versariens I have told you my plans. What plans do you have ? 1 hold 70’000 shares paying 60p for the majority and 88p for A few of them. But always remember It’s only money other things are more important

I have price points at which I intend to sell some shares. I'm not saying what they are, but they're far above where we are now by at least one decimal place (and then a few multiples). That's assuming I'm not forced to sell by changed circumstances, of course. But whatever happens I hope that I can keep at least some for the very long-term, to keep an interest in what I think and hope could be one of the great British success stories of all time (usual caveats apply).

And maybe, just maybe, they'll pay a divi at some stage and I won't have to sell as many...

SG well put.AIM is littered with these penny shares mostly worthless and some of them are pure gamble in terms of striking gold or oil. Then with certain brokers you have extended credit to settle for your shares ideal to get your gambling juices flowing. The herd mentality follow hype and bucket shop brokers on a site like this . Saying that I have a trading pot but will not be replenished if I loose the lot.
VRS is an investment and not a punt and I still believe I can look forward to healthy dividends and accelerated share price so looking forward to catching up with PRSM.

superg......Thanks for your input on SG, I have been tracking a rather acrimonious twitter exchange between Tim Kempster, Viks (Vik Patel), EasyBrent et al and Dr Tina Bass re SG which at times have become quite heated. Just one tweet from Tina to Kempster sums up her stance.....”Looked at XG.Their financials make me feel insecure.$50m burn & burning nearly $2m per 1/4. DOW bailout but only 12mths left IF they can secure the rest of the bailout-not guaranteed. Public offer has poor take up. Who would buy at $8 per share? Is it you? #vrs way better imho”. The storm has also dragged in David Kerr after Kempster stated....... “Very poor response from Tina who has just taken extracts from the risk warnings of the raise. Shall I do the same for the VRS IPO document? Tina can you tell me why XGS have inferior GNP products to #VRS Nanene? Their customers like their products.” David Kerrs reply to that was......”Have you spoken to their customers @timkempster ? Where is your evidence for that statement?”. So far Neill has not responded as yet except to state last night ........”Sorry just been busy, I lost 2 good mates last weekend , one to a car accident and one to suicide. Kind of focusses the mind. I'll answer later when I get my thoughts together.” This followed a final tweet from Viks “I think @neillricketts is "selectively" choosing not to answer my question either as I am generally intrigued to know unless he doesn't have an answer. #VRS”. So sad that Neill has to sign off into the weekend like that in these exciting times!..........Finally superg your contributions are invaluable, indeed you keep me sane!
