The original Nokia link (also in Mike's report) now doesn't work.

Here is some detail which shows Nokia and others help fund the graphene centre

The Government funding for the Centre is complemented by strong industrial support, worth an additional £13 million, from over 20 partners, including Nokia, Dyson, Plastic Logic, Philips and BaE systems. A further £11M of European Research Council funding will support activities with the Graphene Institute in Manchester, and Lancaster University.

Note Plastic Logic, they had the spin out Flexenable who we know are working with VRS ink.

Anyone at the Cambridge investor day will also recognise some other relevant names on the above list.

I'll keep hunting.

On the Finnish company, I'm not sure why that has come up but the easy answer is Nokia.

Nokia were working with Cambridge graphene and continued to do after VRS took the major holding in them.

There is a pdf somewhere that shows some work on VRS graphene ink Rfids, Nokia did the tests on the Rfids. I think it was something like 1000 bend tests and only about 5% performance lost.

I'll hunt for it, its on these threads somewhere. At the Cambridge event on the walk around I asked if Nokia were still engaged and mentioned the document I found, the answer then was yes.

Haz, as you know risk/reward aim shares news driven. Clearly, the emergent 2D industry in the uk/worldwide is becoming organised. Once standards in place and a seller/buyer market formalised, with likely mass commercialisation in place, all will be on a sounder footing. Hopefully vrs sitting pretty. As intimated by others, by then the herd will have arrived. To my mind, there is a great opportunity here - reward, and for UK plc, and naturally within that - risk. As ever that's the gamble. I invested here 2 years ago, on a 5-7 year play. Thus far, v pleased to say the least; rapid progress made and v grateful for it. I remain optimistic for continued success. Aimo. Dyor. Best ellis

Rather uninformative article on a "graphene" 'radiator' jacket:

"The graphene-hybrid material can store and conduct the wearer's body heat and transfer it equally around the body. It can also theoretically store an unlimited amount of heat from an outside source, which means it can work like a radiator if the graphene layer is worn touching the skin"

Can't imagine a great rush to get one.

andy -- Versarien's US man Marko Ruusinen is Finnish.
When he was appointed I raised the fact that he might provide a useful link to Scandinavia.

So far he seems so quiet I wonder if he even works for the company at all any more or has moved on.

More than good progress this week, down to hard work neill and co, as confirmed by d kerr in a twitter exchange ! If i've read neill right, hopeful here of both US and UK testing authorities that can certify graphene to equivalent proposed iso standards (in their absence). A Basic requirement to get new graphene industry up and running ; certified products visible to company buyers and investors alike. Hopefully, some news on the 3 tonne capacity to follow. Aimo. Best ellis.

Traders including shorters I have no problem with. They're an essential part of the markets ecology that keeps it healthy. After all without sellers there can be no buyers and vice versa. What I do take issue with is those who try to knowingly coerse the market with untruths (which is different from highlighting factual I formation for open debate). The latter is blatant fraud and should be regulated

Thanks Ian (&SG) about the reminder re the core China tacticts - concentrate on the initial deal & then replicate globally - nothing short of world domination for graphene production being aimed for here - Wot a goal! - Even in the unlikely event of falling short this will hopefully put us in clover - As for Jak Dorf or whatever he is now calling himself now - maybe he’ll come again as someone/thing else? - Doubt it though - crying into the Kleenex just now methinks

Now imagine being a financial adviser or similar qualifications.

Quite a few in the city aren't there.

Yet many of them commit fraud day in day out and it's there for all to see, it just goes unchallenged or unreported.

What are their qualifications and jobs worth to them. Some very stupidly and openly put those at risk. Complete madness imo, but hey ho nothing is ever done about it.

superg1 - yes I know ;-)
It was purely her reference to valuation - with which I agree - and which others here have said is a daft parameter.

Any pure chart trader I have ever engaged with says they are not interested in what a company does, what sector or what the value is, its all about the charts.

One years ago said that charts were pointless for the AIM and that illiquid shares can not be traded.

I argued that point. He was working off the working concert effect. EG being in shares with plenty of traders who without meaning to work together and mass sell and buy at signal points. Thus in many cases the signal was correct.

That's how charting works, a chicken and egg game. Which came first, the obvious answer is the mass of buys or sells which created the move.

The chart game changes when unknowns are thrown in. EG a fund sticking a load of shares into the market, they go unreported until the entire number has been sold. Cries of WTF is happening on various shares when volumes don't support a move. Then once reported it's unknown if the the fund has reloaded more into the market. Support and resistance points then become irrelevant until the glitch (seller or buyer) stops.

On the AIM illiquid shares if the shares are tight traders are not needed but more and more caught onto it and now there are plenty of them.

A tight share can be moved by one person buying some, the share price moves others the herd reacts and it can move by a material amount very quickly and continue for days and weeks. Equally it can reverse heavily on selling.

Even better there is a site called ADVFN when you can buy/sell then promote the move often with an agenda for gain.

Call it up to get the frenzy going so you can get out, then bring up the charts and encourage others to sell where you may be short or just trying to get it back down for the next buy entry.

Just a quick of thanks you to all those whose posts I have read with great interest
I have gained so much knowledge and help by reading your insightful posts and have found your research more than informative.
In my real life I do try to help people in ways that i can, sometimes this can be somehing as simple as helping them solve a small problem or passing on tools or equipment that I either no longer have a use for or can do without for a time.
I have in my time come across so many people who get to a position in life and then are to quick to pull up the rungs.
I have found people on this board with the obvious few exceptions very helpful and supportive.
Thanks again
John

Rewind to SG’s write up of the first China LOI podcast at the beginning of the year ...
Progress or what !Hong Kong news soon ?

COMMENTS IN THE VOX INTERVIEW ON THE CHINA DEAL

"Government official suggested it would be a £200 billion market in 5 years"

"Backed by Chinese government as a partner"

"Everyone knows we need vast amounts of graphene to meet the demand"

"Met the Chinese president at the NGI (2015) and he said he wanted to collaborate with the UK on graphene"

Met Jinan (the Chinese delegation) in November 2017 they had a requirement they have not been able to fulfil to get into graphene in a big way.

"They needed someone with all the DD, viability, reliability and verification all done"

It started with to a presentation at Bath Uni in November. That led to a dinner and then an invite to go out to China 2 days later.

Hong Kong base will licence it to multiple locations with similar deals. Had meetings on that topic for 2 days on return to the UK.

"Once the business model is proven and the deal is on the table then there isn't really anybody that is not going to be interested in replicating the deal"

"Don't ever get into trying to determine valuation levels. That's a trap."
(Linda Bradford Raschke)

She is a trader not an investor (and a short term chartist to boot!) - but some of her advice is relevant to investors too.

Just a quick explanation to show how 'simple' it is to be guilty of fraud by false representation.

New consumer laws came in (oct 2015 I think) read them and your life will be a lot easier in shops.

I'm just using that example to show how wide ranging it is. It covers causing loss or making a gain.

True story.

I took a computer back to PC world, it was within 6 months it had a hardware issue and kept crashing. As I was past the 28 day rule, they have the option to fix it.

Sent off came back took it home and the same happened again. Off I went to get my refund.

"oh no sir no refund we have 3 chances of fixing it under the new consumer laws"

Me

"who told you that"

"Our manager sir he says the law is 3 chances so we won't refund but we will send it off again".

"Can you get the manager" (we had met before).

The manager made his way but stopped about 20 paces short of me, muttered something to the assistant with him and then I was immediately refunded.

What the poor lass didn't know was on that first answer she gave me she had committed fraud by false representation.

It's that easy as ignorance of the law is no excuse.

ADVFN is full of chancers doing that for financial gain and often doubling up with causing loss for others.

Quite a wide ranging and useful law that the city boys haven't been subject to for decades. Hell fire they even write buy and sell notes with obvious lies in AND stick their names on it.

Bad isn't it that the PC world manager was about to come over to me an knowingly break the law, for gain, by fraud and potentially throw his job out of the window.
