18/8/2018 08:09 | Here’s one for those who have been banging on about VRS being grossly over-valued. From one of the few fund managers I rate highly - Nick Train: Valuations and top-down asset allocations are far too imprecise and are not particularly helpful to investors, according to FE Alpha Manager Nick Train. Train, who oversees both the five FE Crown-rated LF Lindsell Train UK Equity fund and Finsbury Growth & Income Trust, is well known for his quality growth, buy-and-hold, bottom-up philosophy. “Most attempts at valuing a stock market asset result in an illusory sense of exactitude. Valuation is an unbelievably inaccurate science,” said the veteran investor. “I think that it barely deserves the term ‘science’ “But, actually, the assumptions behind valuing anything are so dependent on massive uncertainties that valuation is not useless but it is not nearly as useful as people think.” | ![]() shavian
18/8/2018 07:44 | Thanks, teepee, and discussed before. The same pattern that the Fool uses continuously: criticise a company, suggest another out-of-the-blue (in this case MGAM "...a profitable rival" ) with a one-sentence recommendation, and then try and plug the reader into their subscription deal. Complete waste of space. | ![]() axotyl

17/8/2018 22:47 | Quite right ax, They have missed out and have kept watching the rise probably since Christmas and mainly want to be proved right in their stance | ![]() bootie64
17/8/2018 22:26 | I agree Ax, the more important point is that we wont have to read any more of their diatribe rather than the implications for the share price Though it would be enjoyable reading their private interactions when it comes out who bailed first! | ![]() 1retirement
17/8/2018 21:59 | Even if they did close their short(s) today, do we really believe it affects the SP? Surely they're just petty chancers, and that's putting it kindly? | ![]() axotyl
17/8/2018 21:39 | So who closed their short today, was it TW, maybe Kevin or even EasyB. Very unlikely it was dim Tim, far too stubborn that chap.........which could come back to haunt him. Maybe one of them got whiff of something, didn't like the thought of what was coming and shafted their 'friends' to get out where the losses were manageable (especially after taking a profit on OPTI it would seem). Just some musings and overt thoughts. | ![]() 1retirement
17/8/2018 21:07 | Just checked $TSLA has around 169 million outstanding shares. Not much difference than what is being talked here. It fell 9% today though. | ![]() ashehzi
17/8/2018 21:03 | Kevin also tries his best on @activevalue1 but don't bother - mostly obsession with TSLA, retweets from his cronies, cat videos and bickering with Versariens. | ![]() axotyl
17/8/2018 21:01 | Alchemy I very much doubt even a majority of the 24 Chinese interested parties will come to fruition, simply because the Chinese government won't want them competing against each other. They will pick a few to concentrate on I reckon. Erm I seem to have missed the date of the AGM [edit - I see now, 25th Sept] and it being at the GEIC - [Neill's tweet didn't say AGM but Open Day there?] where was this announced and how do I get a place?? | ![]() runthejoules
17/8/2018 20:51 | Explains why they all sound they same :-) | ![]() tini5
17/8/2018 20:46 | Not very smart thought tini, superg nailed it yet again. | ![]() luckyorange
17/8/2018 20:46 | "At the AGM I expect we shall all want to kiss your feet" Mmm, well, no offence, but I might make my excuses..however grateful I am. | ![]() axotyl
17/8/2018 20:35 | Superg1, for VRS PIs whether that be 300, 3000, 300,000 or 3m you provide as valuable an accreditation service as the NPL/ UoM/ Graphene Council etc provides to industry. At the AGM I expect we shall all want to kiss your feet. The more circulation your objective research receives the better from my selfish point of view but I understand your reluctance to embrace fame on Twitter. Therefore I’m happy that your knowledge is our secret! | hoverflyman
17/8/2018 20:24 | You too. I'm retired, so weekends are of little matter, but to the few on here that still work, have a good one. Roll on 7.00am Monday... | ![]() realcooltrader
17/8/2018 20:21 | Bit of a big clue I suppose 'JAK INVESTMENTS LTD' Fancy making out he was a girl to NR, ah well, at least Neill can put a face to the name now! | ![]() luckyorange
17/8/2018 20:20 | reelcool, sorry should have made clearer, not the AGM date (thank you) but not noticing our leader appears to have (at least) two sets of clothing (twitter pic') Have a good week-end - Spike | ![]() spike_1 |
