Out of interest I've emailed the DIT and asked for a disclosure of how many employees are currently seconded to the private sector.

I've had a response saying my request is being considered under terms of the FOI act and I can expect a reply by September 13th.

An interesting line there

"I have held stakes in companies that were on the verge of worldwide greatness, with a product nobody else appeared to have,"

Take a look at PHE, that's what they claim and the CEO has said recently he expects them to be an FT100 company.

However their news past and present is obviously full of lies, some can't seem to see and understand that.

I may be wrong here but I'm going on the experience of PIs on the AIM.

Such beliefs of greatness and world beaters seem to me to be based on PIs reading and believing what a company, nomad or tip sheet says.

They will say exactly what you have stated.

My advice is carefully check and recheck what a company says. AGM news sounded dodgy so I contacted the partner in the news who were oblivious to the news and didn't make the comments quoted.

I have a long list of examples of AIM and Nomad lies. Believe what they say, do no thorough research and it's a recipe for disaster.

If it's impossible to research or get a good understanding then don't invest imo.

After all Buffet never invests in anything he doesn't understand

Okay, my name should be somewhere on the shareholders list, probably in the newbie section! I've continued to add from day one and now have a 6 figure number with an average somewhere in the '90's. If I get to that age I will still be holding....if VRS are still around. Now about 96% all in....

Volsung eminently sensible approach and comments - which with respect I'm going to ignore ;-)

A senior civil servant from the gov has *never* been seconded to a private company before (maybe in wartime, but not otherwise). Now we have two.

With 14 collabs and the spread of areas of interest the company is essentially derisked for me.

However, I also obviously agree with the comments that of course we need a first significant commercial order to prove up the business model and get us properly on our way.

I'm sure NR and the team are far more aware of that than we are. Just a question of time IMO, though of course that doesn't make the waiting any easier.

We’re all adults here and responsible for our own actions. The only cast iron stock market rule is only invest what you can afford to lose.

Just because VRS is a smaller, higher risk and high growth company, it is not precluded from also being a well run company too. Size is no guarantee of safety - ask investors in GEC, Polly Peck, RBS, Equitable Life, Northern Rock.....

As always, DYOR and then do it again!

Also don't forget you got spooked by the lying fruitcake lady and sold the near 100% ago.

I recall you posted asking for someone to convince you to buy back in again.

Everyone should make their own investment decisions based on their own research.

Why some can't be bothered to do that with in some cases with life changing amounts is beyond my comprehension.

Twitter a few minutes ago
John Smitz: Morning Neill, on various BBs there is a debate about the number of shareholders in #VRS do you know the number (and are able to share it) please?? Thanks and have a great Friday.

Neill: Last time I looked it was about 300 in named and nominee accounts.

Scruts

Just saying I did try to warn re on a few of your bad turns but you knew best. GDL was one of them. I spelt out in detail how they were lying about that well which sent the share price flying.

`Surprisingly quite a few did realise it had to be lies and sold out high up so job done there re the warnings.

Re IMM I did appear there questioning why the share price was falling with results near in and why would they fund raise pre the huge news due. That as it turns out was red flag warning. The M/C was far too high there facing binary bet news.

You may have missed my exchanges on PRG warning re that and facts that didn't stack up. I just hope the legal team think there is enough to go after the nomad there and succeed it would be nice to see some lying nomad blood on the carpet. A few here can then get some of their invested cash back.

I read a lot of posts and take on board what many people say and what they have experienced over the years, yes back swan events can happen. The beauty here is it far from binary. I have seen a few Bios get hit hard on binary bets in recent months.

However week in week out it never ceases to amaze me how PIs in many shares simply can't understand with on a plate facts that a company and Nomad is lying.

EG

AGM out out false news which has been covered. I know it was false as it was also news to the CEO of the partner they quoted in the RNS. He was quite shocked by it.

What did the FCA do with the facts, nothing at all. share price crash insider selling no doubt as the nomad was aware I had comms with their compliance team.

Anyway moving on, like all the things in life what you get out of it depends on how much effort you put in.

Neill gave no date when the next podcast was booked. I believe that this is because he didn't want to give the date of the next RNS. It must be somehow linked to the second secondment as I believe that they would have had separate podcasts otherwise. We have had podcasts only a few days apart in the past.Pure speculation on my part. 100% in by the way. All be it a very small holding but all I can safely afford none the less.Chimp

She’s referring to graphene in porcelain.

Obviously. ;-)

Although that was in jest, I am very enthusiastic about the use of graphene or other 2D materials in porcelain manufacture. The supply of crockery to the catering industry worldwide is big business - in which resistance to cracking/breakages/chips/abrasion is a key factor. Industrial uses of ceramics are also big business (everything from massive insulators to miniscule earpiece components - including sparkplugs, and sanitaryware). Weight is a major factor in every case.

Well i topped up earlier this week but still only holding just over 6000 shares.
Of course I appreciate from reading some of the postings that that is a small amount but that really is all I can invest at present.
The irony is that I bought AGM when first launched and saw an immediate doubling in price only for the price to slide down rather quickly.
This obviously got me interested in Graphene.
I then would occasionally lòok out for British companies working in this area but unfortunately due to family issues I got sidetracked and missed the versarien ship.
Like Haz101 I am a latecomer just trying to make a little money and at the same time back a homegrown company.
If I can one day i can sit my grandkids on my knee and say I invested in that company and look where they are now.
That is the investment that is helping to fund your education.
I will be one happy soul.
I very much live my life with the philosophy that everything is about intent.
If things went wrong here I am certain that it would have nothing do do with intent
That makes me sleep easy beneath this beautiful Wye Valley sky

Grabs tee, you do tend to believe that painful experiences foster enhanced powers to detect BS or other trouble round the corner so it's reassuring to hear the confidence expressed by some more experienced investors. The IOF plunge put me firmly on the naughty step with my other half, rightly so I suppose. I was therefore nervous about telling her about VRS a couple of weeks ago and half expected her to de-wifify me for not discussing our investment. In the event she was quite sanguine and I still retain my gentleman's vegetables. This leads me to believe that it is not the principle of unconsulted investment that is the problem per se, as long as the outcome is fruitful.
