Croatia is wonderful! Sun, sea, pool, lovely apartment, and WiFi! Think I might buy a place here when VRS really takes off...

Fest: can't remember the names, but there are a couple of tip sheets that have been saying this should / will go down, plus those trying their luck with Neill on Twitter, plus our old friend bowlegged.

Best wishes - Spike

I haven't seen any shorters this time round Spike?

I might be speaking too soon, but ....
whenever we have had a large seller, we've had the shorters on here talking the price down in the reasonably certain knowledge that the price should retreat in the face of a large seller.

And in between times they seem to mostly disappear.

Of course this must just be a co-incidence - yeah right!

Best wishes - Spike

Yes Nemo, I cant quite get my head around that...

Agree with comments that all this fast charging is needing storage solutions for grid supply peaks

Yeh Spike - I have seen a digram of very large super storage batteries - the idea is to bury these in existing garage forecourts etc - They can be re-chrged constnatly over 24 hrs if necessary ( more likely from off peak)- This how Electrics vehicles of the future are going to be re-fuelled from existing garages - A simple idea & not too difficult/expensive to implement apparently

Great storage solution for variable green solar/wind power & ideal for Zap & Go Tech?

We`ll save the planet yet!

I believe that even the US Republican Neo-Cons are shifting ground over Climate change - Even they cant ignore the smoke blowing around their West Coast......

As for charging a vehicle in 35 seconds: whilst this will be possible, it is extremely unlikely to be possible from a standard residential electricity supply.

It will most likely need a static battery (VRS ;0) that 'trickle' charges when power is cheap (overnight), that can then release its charge into the vehicle.

Tesla already sell such batteries albeit they are £5k.

Best wishes - Spike

p.s. sg re graphene drone, how on earth do you remember all this stuff! I am in awe.

So - Re Zap & Go - They have developed a new battery that is rechargeable very quickly from its twinned newly developed super capacitor without catching fire? - In turn the Super capacitor can be re-charged very quickly from the grid?

A hybrid Super capacitor/battery system - Is that the Gist?

The Super Capacitor is Carbon Ion based - Is the battery still dependent on Lithium or does that have a graphene/Carbon Ion element to it as well?

Great product but a little confusing re published literature on how it works for some reason

Presumably the capacitor/battery can come as conjoined unit pack (For buses/trains etc) - or as separate items for hand tools etc ( why carry the extra weight of a conjoined quick charging capacitor if you dont have to?)

EDIT

I suppose it would be possible to increase bus range simply by adding additional capacitors adjacent or near to battery? - All down to weight and size I suppose

Indeed neno. I can imagine the roof of such a vehicle could be turned into a solar panel, courtesy of 2D materials etc and in effect become a self charging car. And if the efficiencies gained from 2D materials improve batteries over time, vehicle range could be vastly improved and battery sizes reduced. Blue sky thinking. Aimo. Best ellis

From June 2018, another interesting link with ZapGo Carbon-Ion™ technology

Zap&Go Selected to Join Williams Advanced Engineering as Part of the UK Government’s Faraday Battery Challenge

ZapGo Ltd has been selected to contribute its unique Carbon-Ion™ technology to a consortium led by Williams Advanced Engineering to develop next-generation battery systems for electric vehicles. The project is part of the UK Government’s Faraday Battery Challenge, a £246 million commitment to battery development for the electric vehicle market.

What I find even more interesting is this paragraph

Williams Advanced Engineering is the technology and engineering services business of the Williams Group, which also includes Williams Martini Racing, one of the most successful teams in Formula 1 history and sole battery supplier to all Formula E racing cars.

Zap&Go "We are also developing a driverless vehicle that charges in 35 seconds." I'm trying to get my head round that one. If/when that happens life as we know it changes completely. Almost literally unbelievable.

Yes I get that but the idea isn't new same type of story spun in 2016, same uni, same topic, same airshow.

Glad you pointed that out superg1 (re: HAYD), just shows how easy it is to get sucked into hype if you don't do your own research.

Just a reminder of the last paragraph of the battery update (NON) RNS.......I particularly like the last sentence :-#)

"We are pleased to have entered into these new collaborations and to have received our first Nanane order from a Chinese battery manufacturer. In particular, Zap&Go are at the forefront of developing ultra fast charge carbon-ion cells that can replace slow charging lithium ion batteries in a wide variety of applications from cordless and mobile devices, to infrastructure and transport. We anticipate that the addition of our graphene to their already very innovative products will bring significant enhancements. The market potential for their technology is enormous."

Not sure why this report from Feb 2017 is being newly retweeted by Versarien subsidiary Cambridge Graphene a few moments ago - but includes Stephen Hodge:

I don't like BS guys and I can see Hayd are up to mugging the market again.

That 'aircraft' idea news in 2016 but for some reason Hayd have chosen to spin it again as if it's a new idea.

Yes congratulations to Haydale for raising the profile of graphene and helping show of its capabilities, wherever they got it from or what they did to it.
