Pretty much as predicted. Worthy of a market cap over 2 bill? Slower recovery than expected etc well over priced.

Ok I agree, I shorted them and trying to fathom why it is rising!!FT have it on their site in quite some detail about why Berenberg think they will grow.

Are Berenberg based outside the UK. It beggars belief they are putting this out in the current climate. Open your eyes. Nobody is booking trips via train. Nobody is travelling for business via train. The gov data is telling us they are at only 30% passenger numbers. Where is the revenue coming from? What are we missing here that Berenberg can see? 520p in 2030?

Trainline initiated with a Buy at Berenberg Berenberg analyst Owen Shirley initiated coverage of Trainline with a Buy rating and 520 GBp price target. The analyst views the company as a growth play with online penetration of train ticket buying increasing in the U.K. and EuropeRead more at:https://thefly.com/n.php?id=3157401

justus - totally agree - i don't understand who is buying this company at this valuation. even if you look through the pandemic to better times train travel is unlikely to recover fully until 2022. And even then WFH may mean less commuter journeys permanently. Can't see the corporate update next week being anything but awful...and if so should the Directors be allowed to sell. Maybe Clair Gilmartin knows something positive will be announced - more like positive spin.

I cannot understand the market cap.... TL was making a loss before COVID struck. add the following to your analysis.

Trainline Director Clair Gilmartin sold off 800,000 shares at £4 net proceeds of £3.2M
Abandoning ship?

The 2020 financial statements are dreadful...
Balance sheet propped up by Goodwill from a purchase in 2015 and 2016 and not amortised...It simply has no value.

Take the goodwill out of the balance sheet out an the auditors probably wouldn't be happy to sign it off

Gross profit improved by an amount corresponding to an administration expense increase... careful accounting allocation maybe?

If you claim to be a tech company then the value of the business lies in a multiple of the recurring revenue... that makes this a bust in this climate.
Stand on any platform in the UK for a typical TL sold trip and chances are, you are on your own. I have done a coupe recently.... surreal.

Strange price action. Normally there is some half reasonable argument for the positive movement of a share.....but I can think of any.

However the only thing that matters at the end of the day, is the price action

MM fun and games maybe. Volume is nothing unusual, train passenger volume still at only 30%....CEO will be kicking herself now lol. Hold tight or increase your short position!
