Just on the topic of rubbish investments, I'm clearing out some old papers and ran across my list of candidate investments from 4th Jan 1999, some two months before I bought in. They were:Premier.....at 16pCairn.....at 91pSOCO......at 48p (equivalent to 12p in today's money)British Borneo......at 100pEnterprise.....at 299pMonument......at 35p.....it could have been much worse.....

Well done rob. I sold the majority of mine in 2017, around 140-150p, thinking that I might end up regretting selling at the bottom.

Good news - it wasn't the bottom and it turned out to be a smart move.

Bad news - I bought back most of them in 2018 at around 80-90p thinking I was getting a bargain. Not such a smart move :0(

I have today, after many many years, sold my last small remaining stake in Soco.

I have learned a painful and expensive lesson.

Good luck to those still in, I sincerely hope it turns around for you.

Hopefully the M&A news will continue though TomKe22 and things may still prove rewarding from here. I really can't see SIA staying at these lows but there again I have been wrong here for several years and feel the pain so nobody should take ANY notice of me!

P.S.
When I describe the coming year as a 'stand-still' year I do recognise that the Company is working hard to develop the assets but I don't think the work they carry out will translate into News flow which will materially move the share price

The share price is on a swallow dive to oblivion and has been for a few years now. I deeply regret that I have continued to hold throughout this period.

The market has been and is telling us that there is something wrong with this investment and the holders have declined to listen.

regards
Tom

My reading of the presentation is that 2019 is planned to be another 'stand-still' year. Vietnam production guidance is given at 6500-7000 boepd.

The Seeking Alpha article below (posted earlier in the Thread) valued SIA at c£1.25 per share and raved on about the possibilities and the great Dividend yield. The market has given its verdict and valued it at roughly 50% of that value.

This is not an "end-game" - it would be a kindness to put this thread out of it's misery and start a new one.

The upside? The company was able to persuade a Bank to lend them money so hopefully the company will not go bust. The risks, that they use up to £250m on another acquisition and make a mistake.

Regards
Tom

For the first time in a number of years I didn't manage to get there, what impression did you get ?

What are the 12 months plans/prospects like ?

thanks K

Whoever has talking about SDX has Code the letters mixed up! surely you meant (STX),which is a no brainer since 26p and potentially a double to come after FDA decision 27July!

Here just sit back and wait for change of sentiment and just collect the dividends, should start to motor Q4 and early into 2020

I don't understand why the brokers that cover this company are so negative the majority have this as just a hold the others are split on buy / sell. The consensus is just a hold. Their cash position is strong, they do have an issue with dividend cover though where earnings per share are barely sufficient to cover the cost of a dividend. Their projected revenues for 2019/2020 are getting closer to the years 2014/2015 their net profits projected are $35 mil 2019, $17 mil 2020 (not sure why it is projected to drop in 2020) taking us above 2014 numbers where the share price was trading between 200-400p. All I can think is we've had a huge dilution in shares to get where we are now. Maybe I missing something

Those naughty MM's

Now the USA is tanking with OIL leading the way down $3 in a day

Who would have dreamed such a thing possible ?

What was the Tory Party thinking giving that woman such a job ?

Promoted WAY beyond her capabilities

Crass stupidity on a GRAND scale

Now the Tory Grandees reap the whirlwind and serve them right

THE people come first ... forget that at your peril

IIRC correctly, the 2D is infilling an existing grid, prior to shooting 3D. Perhaps more info in presentation shortly?

They'll presumably do a largish area of 2d to get an initial view - as they can cover a large area much more cheaply. I would expect after that's been analysed areas to be done in 3d over interesting areas before any drilling.

Hopefully the start of better newsflow and a stronger shareprice. One query, sorry to be dim for those oilers with more experience, but why 2D seismic in Vietnam and not 3D? I thought the latter was much more helpful. Is it just cost?
