The patents are so important to PHE. Without them the IP is nothing. With the patents the IP alone is worth hundreds of Millions£ if not Billions£.
When they get the pilot plant up and running this will sell itself.
How it's commercialised will depend on the customer needs and there will be loads of customers for sure.
This is what people can clearly see now.

So if I read it right, they hope to have the pilot system operating Q1 24, and will then continue investigation for an undefined period (but inevitably measured in years) in the hope of more patents?

They'll then start thinking about commercialising the technology, which shouldn't take more than a few more millions and a few more years.

I admire the patience of holders, although I'm not entirely convinced of their sanity...

Smokey 1o3. Havent you seen enough evidence. PHE has been around for many years and the technology it is promoting cannot work commercially, that is a fact, which ever way you look at it. I am sorry if I am unnecessarily negative given the recent news as you put it, and I assume you are referring to the recent patent application. A patent application means nothing if the technology being patented does not work commercially. A patent is not a guarantee of success, it just gives some commercial protection to a product or techology that is unique. The technology PHE is promiting is not unique, its been around for a long time, and anyone with a little knowledge knows it cannot work commercially.
