16/9/2022 20:47 | Vladimir Putin was Friday publicly upbraided over his invasion of Ukraine by India's prime minister, who told him now "is not an era for war."In a rare moment of confrontation for the Russian president, Narendra Modi said he had "spoken to you on the phone" about the need to end the war as the two met in Uzbekistan's capital, Samarkand."I know that today's era is not an era of war, and I have spoken to you on the phone about this," Mr Modi told Mr Putin in televised remarks on the sidelines of the summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) that brought together strongmen leaders from across Asia.Hearing the remarks, Mr Putin pursed his lips, glanced at the Indian prime minister then looked down at his notes.... 16/9/2022 19:50 | The Modeller "But don’t take it from me; read Putins speeches (seriously long and boring) it’s not to do with NATO but Putins own Russian imperialist view of history" Read the national archives releases from early 90s. Sets the context, which you clearly are oblivious of. Nowt to do with Nato - drivel Nowt to do with EEC/EU expansion - drivel You show your ignorance of history. Onto the filter you go because you're adding nothing to the discussion. The Modeller Post 17604 "For the avoidance of doubt: Russia was never ‘forced’ to invade" Absent knowledge of history only a dunce would come up with such a puerile uneducated comment. If your enemy expands right to your border(have you seen the Ukraine/Russia border btw? It's massive and there are few barriers to cross border trade along its whole frontier) then you are posed two questions! 1) Do you accept such. 2) Do you fight to prevent such. So yes, Russia was essentially forced to invade Ukraine, especially given what had happened in 2014...but more importantly what was agreed in 90s. You've fallen hook , line and sinker for the propaganda pushed by Western media. And no, I don't follow Russian media. I'd have been firm from the off. Ukraine - no Nato membership, no EU membership - thereby negating any reason for Russia to invade, in addition to drawing red line in the sand, a final warning , followed by a tactical nuke on a target of comparative importance if Russian went ahead still and invaded. We are led by weak men who appease, and appease, encouraging strong men to take advantage. This is why we are in the position we are. The leader of the free world is a senile demented old fool who has to read of cards to scribble a lasting memory in the Queens book. He cant even take questions after scripted speeches because he is that mentally impaired. Even alpha male leader of our enemies is taking advantage....... And they'd be stupid not to. | geckotheglorious

16/9/2022 18:20 | When a mass grave site has been uncovered in Izium which could hold the bodies of more than 400 people who died during the six months of Russian occupation, your suggestion that the Ukrainian govt wants to create Warsaw Ghettos for Russians is nothing short of obscene. | the modeller
16/9/2022 17:50 | NATO is only an act of aggression if you intend to invade your neighbour; which is what Putin did ever since the Ukrainians stopped bending the knee Don't forget the Budapest security guarantees that Russia gave Plus before the war Putin had a no join NATO deal on the table; plus Ukraine couldn't have joined NATO with a border dispute But don't take it from me; read Putins speeches (seriously long and boring) it's not to do with NATO but Putins own Russian imperialist view of history Still our master strategist now has Finland and Sweden joining NATO, Kaz and others playing up and servitude to the Chinese to look forward to | williamcooper104
16/9/2022 17:31 | Elsewhere, Rosneft led the losses for oil stocks to drop 2.2%, pressured by news that Germany took control of two German subsidiaries that belonged to the Russian giant. The West maintains it is better than Russia due to them having property rights while Russia does not and it is the West that is seizing and nationalising Russian assets in the West. | loganair
16/9/2022 17:17 | The Modeller Post 17591 "You are conflating a series of extraneous points, the fact remains, "Russia is the aggressor in a war against an independent sovereign state”" I'm not conflating anything at all. The fact is "No Eastwards expansion" promise was broken by Nato and the EU Resulting in Russia being forced to invade Ukraine to prevent such. Facts. That you need to consider, but seem to not be willing to do!! | geckotheglorious
16/9/2022 17:12 | Suddenly Ukraine is the beakon of light for the entire planets food requirements. Before the war the only thing we ever knew about Ukraine was Andrey SevChencko - the footballer. | spacedust
16/9/2022 16:15 | Interesting to read todays Daily Telegraph. Germany's top military General has assessed Russias capability in the Ukraine and concluded that they have enough spare capacity to fight on two fronts if required. He estimates 40% of Russias armed forces are held in reserve, and manpower would not be a problem in the event of mobilisation. The Americans are predictably furious having spent months trying to convince the World otherwise, leading some to believe that total victory is possible. It is good to get a more balanced professional approach and hear both sides of the debate. | careful
16/9/2022 16:07 | Of course China has concerns about the war in the Ukraine. It gets 30% of its grain from Ukraine and needs the precious commodities that are essential to making computer chips. Even intel gets 40% of its supply from Ukraine. China is concerned because if Ukraine comes under effective western control it will suffer. This is a commodity war, strategic military war and an economic war. China will be watching nervously. | careful

16/9/2022 13:19 | Looking good for a nice rise. For those that are so against Russia, stop listening to your government and media. This entire situation has been pushed by the US and MI6...and now tyhe GBP is crashing to historic lows and businesses and folks in the UK are going broke. These psychos dont give a damn about the Ukraine and the young men it is losing everyday in the hundreds if not thousands. | nikko67
16/9/2022 13:18 | The Modeller Post 17588 "Russia is the aggressor in a war against an independent sovereign state" Is it though? national Archives releases show that a bargain was struck in 1990s. No Eastwards expansion of Nato (or EEC/EU) Both of whom have expanded Eastwards incessantly. So no, Russia isnt the aggressor at all. Ukraine in Nato or EU? Why? What benefit is it to us unless this is about "resources" Ukraine massive agricultural exporter/fertilisers etc. And what of those dodgy 2014 elections? Seriously just because one doesnt accept the official narrative "Modeller" doesnt mean one is a Commie apologist. Far from it. If Trump was still in office we wouldn't be in this situation. And if you dont accept that you're clearly a Beijing Biden apologist - the weakest most senile president in history quietly burying the USA and the West. (See what I did there - I did the same smear you did to LoganAir) Whilst Logan may, or may not be a Russian sympathiser I most certainly am not. But I know my history and it is clear we are in this mess because NATO and EU consistently kept poking the Bear! | geckotheglorious
16/9/2022 13:09 | Russia is the aggressor in a war against an independent sovereign state. To be clear, this war is not broadly unpopular amongst the Russian people. I am deeply ashamed that there are British people like you who are apologists for Russia. | the modeller
