What I've been hearing is if the armed forces of the Ukraine ever manage to take Donetsk, they are going to make the city into another Warsaw Getto for the pro-Russian civilians and will basically be genocide of 600,000 of these Russians.

If is now imperative that Zelensky is arrested for war crimes and the armed forces of the Ukraine are stopped by the West before millions of Russian speakers are put to death by the armed forces of the Ukraine.

We have applied sanctions on Russia in the hope of crushing its economy.
There is no surprise in that tactic, economic war is just as effective as conventional war.

Now the EU. are trying the tactic of a price cap.
Summarising, they agree to take the oil they need but at a price decided by the EU.
Good luck with that.

So all of a sudden Putin retaliates by shutting off gas supplies.
Why does this make anyone angry, Putin and Russia are suffering from sanctions, it is predictable that he would try the same tactic by using the only economic weapon at his disposal.

Poor old xxxxxy, he was all worked up with his hatred of the EU. but now learns that his enemies enemy is his friend.Confusing for him, he likes a black or white world.

It is difficult to assess how pro Russian Odessa would be.
too much propaganda.

But I was interested in the Ukrainian coup of 2014 which was well covered on TV.

Russia saw the strategic danger in the Crimea and moved in to organise a referendum.

It was well covered on TV and the results were staggering. A massive turnout and an overwhelming 85% in favour of keeping their Russian connection.

It was witnessed by us all and judged to be fair.
That was my impression watching the various news coverage.
how they would have loved to report any dodgy activity.

Since then the propaganda machine called it 'illegal' in the same way that Trump operates.

In the 2010 Ukrainian elections over 70% of Odessans voted for pro Russian candidates as for a place like Donetsk the vote in favour was even higher at circa 95%.

The final picture could be emerging.

Ukraine will be allowed to join the EU but not NATO.

Russia will retain the lands it currently occupies, maybe including Odessa.

A compromise deal between Russia/Ukraine on the defence and trade issues relating to the part of Ukraine the current regime keep.

Removal of sanctions.

Both sides could come out of this well.
Millions that have fled could return to the Ukraine.
