the CityFTSE 100 falls 0.4pc after Liz Truss named PMLucy Burton: Now is not the time for councils to trial four-day weeks at the taxpayers expense  Sign up here for our daily business briefing newsletterRussia won't resume gas supplies to Europe until western sanctions are lifted, the Kremlin has warned.Dmitry Peskov, Kremlin spokesman, blamed the "collective West" for its decision to shut down flows through the crucial Nord Stream pipeline. He told the Interfax news agency: "The problems pumping gas came about because of the sanctions western countries introduced against our country and several companies."There are no other reasons that could have caused this pumping problem."It marks Russia's clearest admission to date that its cuts to energy supplies are a retaliation against western sanctions, rather than a result of technical faults, as it previously claimed.Gazprom's decision late on Friday not to turn the Nord Stream pipeline back on after three days of maintenance sparked a sharp rise in gas prices and has left EU countries scrambling to roll out emergency measures. .. So the West puts a price cap on Russias oil.
They refuse to pay the full market rate.

These fools think they can buck the markets.
So Putin says ok, I will turn off the gas supply and sell it elsewhere.
Russia is making $20bn extra p.c.m. selling gas/oil to willing buyers elsewhere.
So flush with funds they are buying the Chinese currency.

Every time they try to impose sanctions on Russia they shoot themselves in the foot.
We are losing this economic war of sanctions. Our attempts to cripple Russia have failed.
The Chinese Indian Russian alliance is getting stronger.
There is a big game being played here, a new World order.

Ukraine is merely another proxy war, it will be sorted eventually.
Hopefully the mess will not be as bad as that left in Afghanistan Iraq Libya and Syria.

toggle brush, Thanks for posting something Poly related!

I had rather given up on this board. I glanced over it today, and was not much impressed with the recent posts. I guess xxxy's observation that the Ukrainian's find Russian troops 'aggressive' takes the prize for fatuous statements of the bleedin obvious. For him though, the bleedin obvious is quite an advance. Generally he posts repetitive nonsense.

RUSSIAN BANKS LOSE $25BNRussian banks lost a combined 1.5 trillion troubles ($25bn) in the first half of the year as western sanctions shut the country out of large parts of the global financial system.Dmitry Tulin, first deputy chairman of Russia's central bank, said around two-third of the losses came from foreign currency operations as lenders were blocked from trading in dollars, euros and other currencies. He told newspaper RBC that the losses were concentrated among Russia's "systemically important" banks, which are the largest and have higher capital adequacy requirements. But Tulin insisted the central bank didn't expect a repeat of the 2014-17 banking crisis, when the regulator had to bail out several lenders and stripped banking licences from hundreds of poorly capitalised banks. It's the first time Russia has disclosed figures for its banking sector since the invasion of Ukraine.... japan will never join with China for the simple reason the Chinese have never forgiven them for Manchuria in 1930's and are merely biding their time to mete out retribution.

If you knew your history you'd know that!

"I think South Korea will also join with China and Russia, it seems to me reasonable to say that China will offer reunification with North Korea in return"

As long as North Korea runs the United Korea - else no chance of China allowing a pro West Democratic powerhouse on its doorstep.

Some really naive people on this board making ridiculous uneducated postulations.
