04/1/2019 16:24 | What's this? Agreement between D and N - just need to get Jotoha onboard then we are sorted. | nigelpm
04/1/2019 16:09 | Fair enough I do tend to agree with that particular statement nigel as well! | dunderheed
04/1/2019 16:00 | On Balance, who listens to Malcy.... Just ask FRR holders. Paid mouthpiece.... Agreed, however on that particular point I make him spot on. | nigelpm

04/1/2019 15:30 | Should Ophir not open it's data room to all possible buyers? | beergut
04/1/2019 15:25 | Interesting reading differing views. The reality is, nobody knows what the offer price will be, if there is any. The market has decided upon our current price, let us see what unfolds. From the perspective of Booth and the RNS regarding Fortuna and his statement, gaining value, I believe this was the precursor to the events that present themselves now. It was from that RNS that people got an inkling there may be an offer for the company; the subsequent days rise was followed by a statement that said company is considering an offer. If you were considering buying Ophir, you would make damn sure that it would not come to the forefront, in the hope that no other interested parties would be aware so early on. Booth in my view is playing a very smart game, he has let everyone know that at the right price, we are yours. If the talks in Tanzania with the government and Shell/Pavillion are commencing, and it looks likely there will be progress, then Ophir's 20% or 500 Mboe comes into play. Now suitors would either be Medco due solely to Ophir's current production, or Medco because of their intentions to become a big player and Tanzania LNG fits into their goal in achieving this. Do not forget, Medco have purchased not too long ago, a mine for over $ 1 billion, and may have the leverage to fund a large purchase. Now should Medco only be willing to pay for circa 27 k boepd production, then with Tanzania 'now active' there will be a bidder to outbid Medco on this basis. Either way, it's a win win. If there is no bid, then it'll just take longer to realise the value, but for sure there is value even if Fortuna is a gonner. | arteespresso

04/1/2019 13:25 | That's true, it is always a balance of risk v reward. The last up-cycle started pretty decisively when the oil stocks ran down and consumption recovered. Not sure we're quite back there yet, but shares don't seem over-priced.. | wbodger
04/1/2019 12:47 | on balance why take that risk? | ctc1
04/1/2019 12:37 | If you think oil is going to rally why not take the gamble on something more geared? Faroe and Ophir already have offer prices built in their share price | wbodger
04/1/2019 11:58 | nigelpm: thank you well said | ctc1
04/1/2019 11:38 | Think Malcy makes a good point in his blog this morning : If oil is going to rally and stay nearer, say $60 for Brent, then those who are thinking of selling out good oil companies on the cheap such as Faroe and Ophir then you really are throwing your money away. | nigelpm

04/1/2019 07:51 | I'll join you boys if it happens - although I think we'll be dead and gone by then. | nigelpm
04/1/2019 07:40 | Ok, Jotoha2. :-) | ed 123
04/1/2019 07:23 | Ed , look forward to it , if the company remains intact. | jotoha2
04/1/2019 00:45 | Another take on the Medco potential acquisition.https:// | arteespresso
03/1/2019 22:40 | Jotoha2 If Ophir retains its independence I'll be at the AGM (mid-May). Could be a good opportunity to discuss prospects? I'd buy you a drink (if you need a little incentivising!) ;-) I like to hear a range of views. | ed 123
03/1/2019 22:31 | There were two articles on the Medco/Ophir situation in the FT today. Arguably the second article, in weighing the value of Ophir in a takeover, appears to be broadly agreeing with my own suggested takeover price: 55p. Has anyone else read it? Would you agree? | ed 123
03/1/2019 21:57 | Joto, envelope based on what? Has what Nigel said damaged your reputation in any way, and caused you personal/financial loss? Did you have a reputation to damage in the first instance:-). Onto more serious matters rather than the threat of recorded delivery letters and so on. I do remember something at the time with EO. and some shareholders not happy at 70p, given that year highs were around 150p+ from memory, but we are in a completely different situation here. I'd be amazed if Booth let this go for anything south of 70-80p. I would personally be content with a minimum 80p, but I have only recently bought back in. I'd rather we hold out for the right price, even if it means loosing Fortuna as a result.I would expect more than one offer/interest shown - for sure the next week or two are going to be interesting. | arteespresso
03/1/2019 21:23 | Nigela , you better be carefull what you say , ip address can be traced very easily , last warning before the envelope arrives . | jotoha2
03/1/2019 19:00 | I'm hoping Fortuna still in play, then see what happens? | ziblot |
