12/11/2024 17:26 | Down 0.15% here, not too bad. Risers - CNC +12%, TIME +10.48%, JUSC +2.52%. Fallers - -FCH 5.68% by far the worst. I was going fairly well until the last 2 hours & though I might break even. By the way , I too hold CLIG and got it down 1p at 389p, certainly not up. I have 3 reporting tomorrow so looking fwd to that. Good evening all. | scottishfield
12/11/2024 17:08 | MrP , snap; portfolio -1.02% NICL the only standout in my lot. AZN, DPLM and BATS just shading blue , the other twenty four red. VOD very very red followed by RIO. Sunny, fresh day 13C. That north easterly forced most of next doors oak tree leaves all over my garden , spent a few hours collecting them. Nice outside working though, wrapped up well. Had a swift local walk before it got dark. Very quiet about. Had an invite to a christmas dinner from my wife's keep fit club for the second week in december. Bangers and mash tonight with carrots , cabbage and gravy. Bottle of pinotage. | philanderer
12/11/2024 16:52 | Had a bit of a cr*p day all around so this just about takes the biscuit....-1.02% SSE, NG., FSFL and just about every other share I own! | mrphil
12/11/2024 16:49 | A depressing day. -1.77% Only blues were BATS,SN.,EQLS,PETS,3 Rest all red ,the worst of which was ADF. | malcolm caton
12/11/2024 16:43 | -0.87% portfolio, [FTSE All-Share -1.29%] BA., BHP, RIO, GSF, BT.A, BRWM, MNG, worst fallers with miners stumbling again. Out of the 5 blues, only CLIG was a standout. Mainly cloudy, temp continues to creep down, 10C max. | blueliner
12/11/2024 12:41 | Aleman, thanks for the charts, yr 541 post above, yes, it's no wonder the stock market is under pressure and you can trace the roots and the slow creep forward. Thanks | scottishfield
12/11/2024 11:02 | UKX up about 6% in 5 years. I'm up about 16%. RPI is up about 32%. I'm down an RPI-adjusted 12% but I need taxing more to fund everyone else, including an increase over the period of 2m+ people of working age being paid not to work (making today's 50k quarterly rise in official unemployed almost meaningless nonsense). A rise in Claimant Count of 1.1m since 2016 suggests UK has been flirting with mild recession for about 8 years? A 460k fall in vacancies suggest a significant recession of around 27 months. GNP is up 24% in 5 years but RPI is up 32% so falling over 1% per year adjusted for that inflation measure. HHhhhmmmm........ | aleman
12/11/2024 10:44 | Morning everyone . Sunshine and blue skies , on the fresh side :-) Portfolio hammered -0.8% , 27-0 to the reds and I was only flat yesterday. MrP that's a lovely tree. | philanderer
12/11/2024 09:34 | Good morning. Bad start for my lot this morning and sun not coming not from behind clouds yet. After a few (indoor!) showers, my knee is not looking bad and does not hurt much but it continues to weep. I've not had a good look at the bike's gear change yet. I notice my just-washed white car is covered in black ash. A neighbour friend tells me a house to the NW had a fire giving off black smoke yesterday. Ggrrrr... Still looking like a possible touch of light snow for wllm and Gateside on Sunday and that risk of light snow could continue for over a week. Then Tuesday has 4-6 inches of snow on the Pennines, and a bit for us lower down, and then there's lots for England a few days later with up to 8 inches around north of Swindon to South Wales. I stress that these early season forecasts sometimes just end up as rain and are only reasonably accurate within 5 days but it's an unusually interesting model output for the time of year. Edit - hope the noise is nothing and you get home, Dr Bio. | aleman
12/11/2024 09:34 | Not a great start for me. My car is making an odd sound and I'm 100miles from home. Portfolio is 25-0 to the reds. What went up yesterday has fallen back today. Whats changed? | dr biotech
12/11/2024 08:25 | Good Morning. A lovely start this morning, with very welcome clear skies. Glad you saved your tree MrP! I've got a 'skip rescue' that I had over the allotment for a couple of years and is now in a very large pot and needs a new home. | skinny
12/11/2024 08:20 | Morning. A clear and sunny start to the day. But not for portfolio,a very red start with little blue about,Another of my AIM shares has crashed this morning ADF. | malcolm caton
12/11/2024 08:19 | Morning All. Aleman, that must be both annoying and frustrating. Sadly we are just not geared up for cycle use in this country. Changing the law to just make it even more challenging for motorists isn't the answer, and if they do make cycle paths then they really must maintain them properly. Managed to get a few jobs done in the garden yesterday. The Christmas tree we planted shortly after moving in (1998) has grown rather large and has been threatened with removal by MrsP. Our tree surgeon sided with me and said that would be criminal, so we have compromised and lifted the base by around 5 feet to allow us to plant a couple of Hydrangea Paniculata and an Azalea which should all do well in that location. And we were treated to a bit of sunshine too! Not a bad day for my lot yesterday, around +0.60% | mrphil
11/11/2024 20:18 | I'm up +0.348% on the day today (FTSE100 +0.654%). Best rises: LLOY +2.75%, UU. +2.25% and TATE +1.78%. Worst falls: BHP -2.06%, RIO -1.94% and S32 -1.11%. The miners were my undoing. Nice rise from LLOY. Mackerel sky this morning, but a fitful sun. I fot 3 loads of washing done today, but not fully dry. Ah well. DF | deanforester
11/11/2024 18:16 | Finished up 1.2%, 22-2 to the blues. Barc/MNG/KITW/VLX biggest winners, ULTP only notable loser. But of sun this morning but spent most of the day in a windowless lab so never appreciated it. | dr biotech
11/11/2024 17:27 | +0.21% portfolio, [FTSE All-Share +0.70%] BHP, PMGR, RIO, BRWM, VANL, worst fallers. < BA., MNG, PLUS, SREI, ENSI, leading the field. Have to eat my words, wall to wall sunshine after I posted this morning. Max 11C, felt warm though, coffee alfresco :) Wolf Hall, also watched, has it really been all this time since last series. The Guardian is effusive today in its review . | blueliner
11/11/2024 17:19 | Up 0.53% today. Also fell back a bit as day went on. Worst falls - TIME 8.7% & IGP 5.7% smaller holdings but nevertheless. Best risers - JUSC 5.78%, KLR 5.49%, XPS 3.42%, EWI 3,82% The market held overall, perhaps a good sign going forward. | scottishfield
11/11/2024 17:02 | I finished up 0.62%. Some welcome sun this afternoon, but now feeling colder than the 8C indicated. | skinny
11/11/2024 16:58 | Disappointing day was up over 1% at one point then Zoo crashed for an as yet unknown reason,Lucky I sold half last weekor it could have been worse. Ended day +0.5% Worst fallers ZOO,ULTP,PETS,RIO,BH bestrisers RR..MSHL, FEVR,LLOY,PLUS. | malcolm caton
11/11/2024 16:55 | All dribbled away to nothing as the day wore on ending + £19. Retailers SBRY and MKS hammered again due to NIC rates. RIO not much better plus NICL with it's ridiculous spread. Plenty of sunshine 14C , did some more shed painting . Collected lilac leaves which have now started dropping and did some housework. Watched the excellent new series of 'Wolf Hall' episode 1 last night. Chilli Con Carne tonight and a bottle of pinotage. | philanderer
11/11/2024 16:51 | Snow for NE England at 5 1/2 days now. That's almost within range of a reasonable expectation of being correct, though first snows of the year tend to be a little harder to predict. | aleman
11/11/2024 16:15 | I don't think we'll see you next year, philanderer. We're consistently inconsistent. We had strange team selection this weekend to lose to a very soft but probably valid penalty. It keeps feeling like somebody at the club does not want us to get promoted to a more expensive division where we will lose money. I was annoyed Sunday morning by a daft refeeeing decision that saw No.3's team concede from a free kick. Our opponents put a player in an offside position, backing into the keeper only to run away as the ball was kicked but possibly obscuring vision of the kick. Rule 11 cites examples of interfering with play in an offside position but now refs take this list as being definitive as if other types of interefernce are not offside. Clearly the offside player was seeking to gain an advantage by putting the keep off and so interfering with play when offside. The FA is going down a rabbit hole of increasingly particular definitions which players work around instead of just letting the ref interpret the law for whatever happens. Up to now I've been enjoying junoir football because all the VAR rule redefining nonsense was not affecting it. Alas ... Who needs Spitting Image? The real world is crazier. Can Trump be tried and convicted as President? Yes but no but maybe not if unless .... | aleman
11/11/2024 10:24 | Morning everyone. wllm, thanks for updating. Yesterdays hike cancelled , persistent drizzle which was not forecast. Sun doing it's best this morning. QPR with an easy surrender at Leeds , not a shot on target and with 25% posession now propping up the table. | philanderer |
