06/11/2024 10:21 | Morning, Grey and damp again here. Portfolio lkes trump victory, altnough fallen from earlier,+1.1% now was +1.6%/ It seems a bit like our election result.Dont like one party, like the other less. | malcolm caton
06/11/2024 10:14 | Good morning. Awful US politics like awful UK politics. None of the above. Not as murky this morning. I think last nights bonfire has burned it all off. It was a big one but burned out quite quickly with the branches being drier than normal. We had 20 guests who all seemed to enjoy themselves. I've got loads of clothes to wash this morning. | aleman
06/11/2024 09:45 | Appalled to see Trump win, but The People have spoken so I'll leave it at that. Bruciefolio up 1.3% with a positive surprise for another full holding, OXB. Though All- share up 1.5%, so I must be underperforming. | brucie5
06/11/2024 09:41 | Good Morning. Grey and murky again here. Welcome back DF - I see Spirit of Discovery has embarked on a 30 day, round-trip "Tropical Shores of the Caribbean". | skinny
06/11/2024 09:26 | Relieved to see Trump win the US election, Harris/Waltz are far left radicals and the rhetoric from their camp and the MSM in the US I believe damaged them as did using the legal system against your political opponent. Mass immigration also hurt the Democrats, Starmer take note. All my stocks up this morning except PHNX for some reason. Very mild this morning. wllm :) | wllmherk
05/11/2024 21:25 | Change since I last reported, I'm down -2.107% while the FTSE100is down -1.615. On the year I am +8.94%. Worst falls today: AZN -8.40%, GKN -1.59% and UKW -1.04%. Best rises today: BT.A +3.69%, UU. +3.16% and BA. +2.85%. Looks like big pharma took a hit today. US elections taking the attention. Enjoyed the cruise despiite coming home to the anti-cyclonic gloom. I see that I have 494 email messages to get rid of. Tomorrow perhaps. I have all the winners and losers and closing prices for the last two weeks, but the spirit is unwilling and the flesh too week. Manana, perhaps. Mr P., I am fortunate in that everything I have is sheltered in ISAs, which still means that I have effectively 40% discount on any major spending. The trouble is that it comes in faster than I can spend it. DF | deanforester
05/11/2024 19:47 | I finished down 0.06%. A late afternoon curry for us and I've realised for the last year or, they've all taste very metallic - regardless of dish or restaurant - I'm beginning to wonder if its covid related? Goodness knows where the market goes whoever 'wins' in the states. | skinny
05/11/2024 17:40 | Up £65. I suppose two positive days in a row isn't bad in this market, but combined its less than 0.1% Good rise for SUP, another poor day for GSK/LIO which seem to have fallen every day since I bought them. NXR also fell after a decent run. Lost again at mixed doubles, we have been put in a very tough group. Lady we played last night plays in the National Premier league for the county. Apparently it could have been worse as she was a replacement for someone who tried but failed to make it on the WTA tour. We don't have anyone near that standard at our club, as our 2-6, 0-6 result showed. Took a set off their B side though thats not going to prevent our swift relegation. | dr biotech
05/11/2024 17:17 | Under performed the market yesterday, outperform Best value risers,RTO,SNR,ZOO,R Worst value fallers FEVR,AVON.LIO> | malcolm caton
05/11/2024 17:10 | A gain today but hardly life changing at +0.04%. Top risers UU., TEK & INVP | mrphil
05/11/2024 17:06 | Up 0.25% sigh, what a terrible mkt | scottishfield
05/11/2024 17:05 | Portfolio -0.13% and yesterday's small gain gone. All down to AZN -8% . Can't make out if it's because of poor weight loss pill results, being sued for covid illness or a broker downgrade. All three I suppose. Good results from ABF. No sunshine today , overcast but not cold ,14C ... Oak tree leaves starting to rain down now. Had my bonfire this afternoon and very good it was too :-) Sausage, mash, carrots and peas with gravy tonight . Bottle of merlot. | philanderer
05/11/2024 16:56 | The annual NI allowance will help offset some, good for smaller firms but drop in the ocean for medium employers. | mozy123
05/11/2024 16:55 | +0.14% folio, [FTSE All-Share -0.10%] BA., ADVT, INVP, AA4, leading gainers. ENSI -13.6%. Final results, battles rising costs but promising as expected. Stockopedia agrees with me that it may need additional financing hence the plunge. Love these AIM shares. accounts nearly all my losses today. My commiserations Mr Phil. | blueliner
05/11/2024 13:59 | Feel for you Mrphil. The business I work for makes a net profit of about £20k pcm and employees 300 staff mostly on NMW. Very low margin industry. The rise in the NICs bill will increase it from £50k pcm to £70k. The rise in NMW will add about £50k to the £550k gross wage bill. To say I'm concerned about my job security is an understatement. And wait until employees can start getting paid SSP sick from there first day, with no waiting days before payment. If we elect communists we cant expect to have wealth. | mozy123
05/11/2024 12:52 | Bonfire half built and already as big as last year. That one struggled get going so this will feel a hot one if it takes, which it should since it all seems fairly dry. I might have to hold some back so it is not too big. | aleman
05/11/2024 12:31 | FIX is another quite useful thread | scottishfield
05/11/2024 11:59 | Aleman5 Nov '24 - 11:03 - 90395 of 90397 0 1 0 There is the quietish DIVI thread that might interest you. -------------------- Thanks Aleman. I'll check it out. | brucie5
05/11/2024 11:27 | Thanks for all the supportive comments guys. First world problems really, we all have a lot to be thankful for! My lot are just about positive this morning and I had £50 from ERNIE this month! That will go towards a new tyre from a screw I picked up at the weekend! | mrphil
05/11/2024 11:23 | Sorry for your woes MrP. I’m not a fan of paid for research such as Edison. They are more of a PR company than one that is objective. Whilst that can be useful, I’d take 25% off everything they say. Good luck with it though. | dr biotech
05/11/2024 11:03 | I think we generally moan about all politicians and parties here, Brucie, so generally don't descend to political bickering. Good to hear you've had a bit of positive dividend news there. We don't get enough of that. I'd say dividends seem to be holding up a bit better than capital in recent months. Hopefully that will continue. There is the quietish DIVI thread that might interest you. It could do with more posting but some of it is interesting and has useful links. Investment trusts you might investigate for income - AEI, EAT, HFEL, HHI, SDV. | aleman |
