Jewish Passover lasts eight days and starts next monday so nothing will happen during that time I'd have thought. So after that or before next monday all bets are off.

Traders think the Bank of England will cut interest rates just once this year after inflation fell less than expected.

Money markets indicate the Bank of England could wait as late as November before it begins to reduce borrowing costs.

Traders are now pricing in just one interest rate cut this year, compared to expectations of five cuts at the start of 2024.

ONS say London leading rents up. WINK say London rental market has turned price-sensitive in Q1 but still strong in rural areas just outside London. With agreed sales up 23%, it sounds like market is starting to turn as those holding off and renting have started buying instead.

Morning All.

Certainly a better looking start for the shares but a lot of catching up to do after yesterday!

Nice bright start, didn't charge the house storage batteries overnight as I think we are now getting enough brightness to see us through the day without using the grid. They are currently at 77% SOC and we are generating more than we are using so that's good news. The new work system has generated 20.4kWh so far this morning but we will have used most if not all of that.

Had a nice bike ride in the local woods yesterday evening. The Bluebells were lovely but are actually starting to go over which is crazy for mid April. Lots of beautiful bird song, lots I didn't recognise.

Gilts now indicate 5 x 0.25% rate cuts in the next 12 months and then another 3 - maybe 4 - in the following 12 months, before levelling out at 3-3.25%.

Ok, things have deteriorated slightly but the media really do love to have a good panic.

I note some bigger monthly rises still to drop out soon. CPI over the last 10 months is 1.4% so still looking likely for the 12-month figure to hit 2% in 2 months time, though minimum wage increases might counter that.

I'm down -1.934% on the day today (FTSE100 -1.824%).

Worst falls: S32 -4.95%, BHP -4.03% and SMDS -3.96%.

Smallest falls: TATE -0.32%. HLN -0.49% and UU. -0.55%.

Naturally everything fell. Miners suffered most. Nuff sed.

I decided to get the grass cut this morning, after a big rainbow to the SW. Then attacked a dead shrub and the brambles, which were bagged up. Then I bagged up the branch cut down by UK Power Networks, so I have 5 bags for the dump. I think I will sweep the drive first, as there is a lot of minor debris from the storm.

We had a couple of thunderstorms this afternoon and some hail.

Our granddaughter is 21 today and we are going to see her tomorrow for lunch.

Tough morning but a decent afternoon as a few recovered slightly. PLUS were up but the only significant faller was PHNX. Goodness knows why FRES were down. Silver and gold prices held up through the day and are now well up at 2-year highs in the local currency that matters most . -0.9%.

Cracking afternoon outside. The cold wind became a cool breeze and the cloud melted away to leave some strong sun. Kids were kicking off a bit so I gave them a choice of going out and they opted for a the local rec fields. After, we called by the local where I had a couple of nice pints of Roosters Yankee. There was a pizza trailer outside so I got out of making dinner. I'm pleased to say the pizzas and parmesan chips were very nice and mum was happy that I saved some for her. So a poor morning but a great afternoon. I ven feel like I've caught the sun. 11.2C after 4.7C

Just waiting to hear that Israel has gone nuclear. Just on the news , 8 million people with sick notes staying off work. A new record.

Sainsburys this morning quite busy and prices definitely on the up again.

Residents Association AGM tonight so an early dinner of bangers and mash. Wine later.

Missing out on CTO cost me about 0.5% which is annoying. I had seen it as more and more of a high turnover, low profit, vanity project for the BoD but such is life. I sold SDRY last year and that turned out to be the correct decision.

VLX/DOTD/BGO all managed worthy gains. Most other things down, AUSC/MEGP/AV biggest value losers, SPECS largest % faller, they have their results tomorrow and have been a terrible holding for me.

Worst day for some considerable time for my lot, -1.78% LLOY, BP. & SSE plus just about every other share I hold!

The forecast rain never materialised, it's actually been quite a nice bright day, albeit a bit breezy. Might head out into the local woods on the bikes this evening to see the bluebells.
