Morning All.

Had a nice long weekend starting with breakfast on Friday at a quaint eatery in Old Portsmouth with my brother and his wife. It was excellent and we followed it with a breezy walk along the seafront, watching fisheries support vessel SEVERN entering the harbour.

Changed the oil and filter in the Stag and realised it's getting harder each time I do it. The sump plug has a small 10mm square head which can only be moved with mole grips these days, and I am sure the car has got even lower than last time. Had to jack the front up and sit it on axle stands to get enough height to crawl underneath and access the oil filter, but all done and running lovely now. Looking forward to the first run of the season on Drive it Day 21st April.

My lot haven't started too badly this morning but let's see if that lasts!

Two very poor teams and a windy stadium made for an awful game. A 94th minute winner keeps the Terriers in with a chance of escaping relegation but I would not put a penny on that.

It's criminal that The Bantams have only been starting Pointon since our play-off hopes ended and have got 7 points from those 3 games. He played well again in yesterday's win and we now look like a side that should score from breaking rapidly. That has not been the case all year - in fact, for several years. But we are going to rip it all up and start again soon, since half the players are out of contract this summer. The fans' demonstration also resulted in a director of football being appointed, something many have been seeking for a few years. Roll on next season.

In recent times I think you will find that overseas passive tracker funds have done a lot better than the UK market. What the future will bring is anybodies guess, US presidential election, wars and then the UK general election.

Thanks Wllm. My risk free cash ISA is +1.25% - would be in 3rd place. I'm pretty sure it would be beat most of us over 18 and 24months too (certainly me).

Canada sees unemployment rise from 5.0% to 6.1% in less than a year despite GDP better than UK and vacancies above pre-Covid levels. The numbers don't seem to gel by historic standards.

Most stuff down a bit but STCM down a lot. -0.6%. YTD -0.54%.

Every food establishment we have stopped at for lunch or dinner (8 of them) has been quiet apart from one of the Aberdeen parks which was almost full for lunch. It might just be the bad weather but it must be hurting quite a lot of those businesses. You would have no idea it was an Easter start to the school holidays up there.

We had an almost bizarre return home - only 2C and 2 inches or more of settled snow as we drove in heavy drizzle and spray between Perth and Stirling at midday, followed by dry, 16C and sunny just after crossing the border about 2 hours and 120 miles later. It was 18C and partly cloudy at home. (Garden said 17.7C.) The snow-topped hills in Angus and Perthshire were beautiful earlier before we hit the snow line, drizzle and traffic. (Thanks, Gateside.)

Glad to be home with 20C predicted for tomorrow. Enjoy the warmth and have a good weekend.

Hopefully I should be able to get some tennis in tomorrow morning with strong winds not forecast until the afternoon. I'm with you Gateside, raining all day today and bloody cold at 5c. Awoke this morning to sleet. Solar intallers arrived this morning to change the Inverter, changed, but unfortunately, it is still not connecting to our WiFi so we can't see how much we are generating. Good session with the Physio this afternoon, working on my neck and back. Weekly figures:

BA.,stands out again as the only substantial riser, it's my largest holding by value and accrued profit. Held now since 2011.
Miners took a drubbing, the trimming of dividends this last year in this sector didn't affect my tax year end dividend target by too much, only £15 short, but there was no growth.

On the week : +0.08% thanks to March dividends.

Shares of the week : CSN +6.5%, CMCX +6.7%.
Loser of the week : NTQ -10.5%
Folio YTD -1.7%

Watch out for storm Kathleen .

What an awful end to the week, wiping off -0.70% on the week, YTD just positive at +0.30%

Well it was looking like a 3rd up week in a row, but those damn Americans put a stop to that!

Oils did well, miners not bad, many of the others had a poor week and dragged my portfolio down overall.

SHEL has replaced AZN at the top and is now my largest holding.

Looking forward to finally having some mild weather up here.
Just 5 degrees today, but 17 degrees forecast for tomorrow!

Helping my daughter with her maths revision tomorrow, will make sure we have a lot of good breaks :)

YTD has slipped back to -3.9%

Portfolio -1.15% just about all red , top fallers NG., ABF, SBRY, RIO, IMB and VOD..... touch of blue for VSVS, SHEL, GRG and BAG.

-1.45% for the week , making -2.31% YTD


Dry, bright and very windy 16C . Got the mower out as the lawn dried out nicely.

QPR v Sheff Wed tomorrow and a walk in The Chilterns sunday.

I think there's a lasagne in the freezer :-)

1/7 on the quiz.Had a very pleasant funeral today. It stayed fine. Some good chats with the grandchildren of the deceased and amused by her great granddaughter. Good journeys both way, about 1h45m for the 70 miles. Only slow point was the roadworks at the old Airport Balloon junction.DF
